Hidden amongst other treasures in the Richmond Annex neighborhood, a charismatic 2 bedroom/1 bath artist abode awaits you. This eclectic home, nods to both Craftsman sensibility and Mission design.
The house’s master bedroom has a comfy full sized bed and windows framing lush trees.
The second bedroom has a full size bed and French doors that open onto a deck, where you can sip Chamomile tea or enjoy a local California wine while looking at the surrounding hills.
Downstairs, the kitchen, equipped with a gas stove and many amenities to create a feast from the local farmer’s market (Tuesday and Saturday mornings at El Cerrito Plaza -10 min. walk) also has French doors to open to another deck overlooking a profusion of flora and greenery. You may wish to drink your French-pressed coffee and some breakfast treats that we will leave for you outside or you may choose to sit around the kitchen table that seats four.
The dining room has yet another set of French doors so you can always interact with nature. As you step onto this side of the deck, you will be greeted with a shocking fuschia colored bougainvillea. Inside, the dining room table can expand to hold six.
Since we believe in playing, you will find games, books, inspiring art and sculpture by local artisans and a rocking chair to help in your relaxation. There is also a full-size pull out couch for additional sleeping space.
Please note that we will add a $30 cleaning fee for pets.
All amenities and house to yourselves.
Interaction with Guests
We will interact with you as much or as little as you would like.
We love our neighborhood! Our neighbors are friendly-folk who grow gardens and chickens and share resources. We particularly enjoy walking to the parks (we have two) or to the Asian Market for $20 massages, Bobba tea and a plethora of restaurants from all over Asia. Drinking coffee at Peet’s or Starbucks, enjoying local brews at our own Brewery pub, Elevation 66, or heading to our local pool/Zumba class at the El Cerrito community center is also fun. We like to walk to the Cerrito theater, where we lounge on couches snarfing gourmet pizza, and yes, some more beer or wine. We are fortunate to have Trader Joe’s within walking distance, as well as El Cerrito Natural Food Store (and it’s newly built cafe, the Annex). We do have an abundance of shops at El Cerrito Plaza including Barnes and Noble, The Avenue, Pier 1, Gamestop, Rubio’s (Mexican), Cold Stone Creamery, See’s Candy, Lucky’s, Junket (German Delicatessen), Yammy Sushi, and of course, we wouldn’t call ourselves civilized without a good ole’ donut shop.
Our location is stellar. Parking is ample, free without restrictions. We are a 10 min walk to BART; Berkeley is also 10 minutes away by car or BART. Point Isabel dog park is right near us (5 Min.), as is Oakland (10 min.); San Francisco (20 min.) Sausalito (30 min.) Muir Woods (40 min.) Napa and Sonoma wineries (50 min.) The Ohlone greenway bike path is 5 minutes away as are the lovely hiking trails of Tilden Park, which offer panoramic views of the Bay.
Other Things to Note
We feel so lucky to live here and would absolutely love to share our home and knowledge of the Bay Area with you. If you’d like, we’ll even tell you where the best rope swing is! How can you possibly resist visiting us and enjoying our home?
Please be respectful of our neighbors. Quiet hours are from 10PM -8AM. Absolutely no smoking anywhere on the premises.
This is our second stay here and we love everything about it!
we stayed in the house for a week. The location is great next to the highway but on a quite neighborhood.
Limor was a great host making sure we have everything and that our stay is going well.
Host was friendly enough. However, the pictures did not accurately refelct the actual condition of the home. The home was dirty and in need of updating and repair. The hoard in the yard made it for an unsafe and uninviting environment. The host refused to waive the cleaning fee, thankfully Airbnb assisted with the resolution by returning the cleaning fee. My advice is to ask more questions before booking. Had I known this property was actually someone's primary residence, I would have looked for something else.
We truly regret that you did not enjoy your stay. We've had so many guests at this older home who absolutely loved it, as you can see from the myriad reviews. Had I known that you were looking for a new home, I would have been happy to look and see what we might have had available for you. The home is professionally cleaned and having a spider in the house during the Bay Area peak spider season is not something that I can really control, though I would have loved to. I offered you partial cleaning fee refund because we believe in a resolution that works for all. The great thing about Airbnb is that people get to share their homes, their resources. Perhaps that is not something that fits your needs.
Best of luck in your future travels.
Limor and the Folks at Book A Nook
This is a very nice house. We stayed 10 days and found it to be very comfortable, clean and well equipped. What I was pleasantly surprised about was how nice the outdoor decks were. One side of the house has a deck with table and chairs, and the back of the house is completely decked — with two different levels, two tables and chairs —one of which is directly outside the main bedroom. There are very nice views of the surrounding Berkeley Hills area - especially at night when the lights are shining.
Both bedrooms have nice beds, closet space available, and chest of drawers for your clothes. The bedrooms are on the top level of this split level house — the levels being separated by only a few stairs — but it is enough to give the house a bigger feel to it. The main living area has a rocker, love seat (which can expand to provide a comfortable bed — much better than the typical hide-away bed), and some additional seating. Dining room has a table for four — which is expandable to fit eight. Kitchen is very nicely equipped with a full sized refrigerator, nice gas stove and oven, plenty of pots, pans, coffee maker and filters, utensils, and even a Vita Mix.
I would certainly recommend this lovely and comfortable house. Limor is very professional and attentive. The whole process of staying there - from start to finish - was easy and well thought through. Limor has also placed a book about the house with recommendations for restaurants and other attractions that are nearby. The neighborhood is quiet and very safe, convenient and is a nice place to take walks in. So, all in all, this is a great house.
Weird experience. Positive: Very cute house. Host provided warm welcome of flowers and snacks, was responsive when reaching out and accommodated us for an early check-in and late arrival. Negative: $125 high cleaning fee that host attempted to collect even more after we left. After taking extra consideration to clean dishes and pick up the entire house for an easy clean job by cleaners, I received a complaint about my lack of appreciation for the extra gifts and requested an extra $100 due to a broken $4 wine glass, dog pee on kitchen floor, and "extra" dirty house. This was even after explaining the wine glass broke when doing the dishes, no dog pee, just spilled water bowl as we were leaving and the cleaner was already on site. No idea what "extra" dirty even means or how that could happen when we were out at events for most of our stay. I purchased a new set of wine glasses to be sent to her since it caused such a strong reaction, however the inappropriate requests and angry energy made things really weird. I was traveling for 10 hours after departure and apparently didn't communicate soon enough. Couldn't seem to please or impress this host, and it really tarnished the whole experience, we won't book again.
I'm so sad the experience was not good. As you can see by the plethora of positive reviews, we do strive to make sure every guest feels nurtured. This home is large and the cleaning fee is what we get charged by the cleaners. I wish you had communicated with us regarding the broken glass. Even though we extended your check out time since you didn't read that it was at 10 AM, you still left the place a mess. May your next experiences be better for you and your hosts. Blessings, Limor
My mom and I had a weekend stay over and it was just lovely! Highly recommended! It was homely and the kitchen was very well equipped! Just wonderful!
Everything was just as described. My wife fell in love with the place the moment she walked in the door. Close to everything, we will definitely be back.
