Accommodation: 6-bed mixed gender bunk room in the Alberta Arts District--the center of all that's weird and wonderful about Portland.
Come hang out at our guest house and wander Alberta Street...it's a cornucopia of funky and independent shops, galleries, bars & restaurants. We've got world famous pie, 5 kinds of Thai, an amazing tea shop, vegan bakery, co-op and guitar shop within a few blocks. Catch a flick at the Kennedy School or live music at the Alberta Street Pub or Alberta Rose Theater.
Every Last Thursday, we have a freewheeling art festival on the street. Last Thursday is a rich tradition where it's free to vend and attend. You'll see washboard bands, teen violinists, Native American drumming circles, fab art and funky attire right outside our front door!
We are on several major bus lines and one block from a designated biking boulevard. By car we are 10 minutes from the airport, Lloyd Center Mall, Convention Center and Light Rail and less than 15 minutes to downtown Portland.

Rochelle runs a really great space here. My wife and I were really pleased with how efficiently things were run and the ease we has in booking the booking the place and getting checked in. The house in right in the middle if one of the most happening spots in Portland. I would suggest booking with Rochelle, renting bikes from Everybodys Bike rentals down the street and hitting the streets for the best experience if the city. My highest recommendations!
The Hosteling Inn Alberta Arts is really cozy! Near from Downtown Portland (15 minutes by bus) and in the lovely Arberta District with so many cute shops, cafes and restaurants (best icecream in the Salt and Straw), the location is really good! I didn't met Rochelle personally, but everything was well organized. Thanks to let me stay at your place!
When I stayed there they was made me happy.
They are very kind and house is perfect. so I don't have a problem.
Some time I need some things but I don't need call them. Because it has many silp of papers.
The best place of During the trip.
I had a wonderful stay here! You need to be mindful of everyone's sleeping schedule because it is a hostel and many different people can stay at once. You have everything you need for your use in the kitchen and the house is one block from the Co op and the bus stops, in a very neat part of town, there is something to do on every corner. I highly recommend for anyone visiting Portland for a short while on a budget to stay here!
Lovely to extend my stay here :)
An excellent place to stay in a great location. Reasonably comfy bed, very clean bathroom +kitchen. A very homey feel.
The house is an old and beautiful but because of this, you can hear every little noise through out the entire house and as not everyone sleeps at the same time, this might be an issue. That said, the location and affordability combine to attract a delightful crowd. You will definitely make some friends while staying here.
Very clean, comfortable, and cosy. Great value for money.
I arrived in Portland two weeks ago. I still haven't found a home. I've been staying with friends, and friends of friends, which have all been comfortable. But the Alberta Hostel has felt the most like home! I'll be back if I'm between homes again.
Absolutely loved this place! Very cute house in an even cuter neighborhood. Even though I never got to meet Rochelle in person, she was very hospitable and quick with her replies. The Alberta Arts District is a wonderful area to stay in. It's filled with art, cute shops, restaurants and friendly people. This house is also right next to the 8 bus stop which will take you to the west side quite easily. Very convenient. I will definitely be staying here during my next trip to Portland!
