About This Listing
My apartment is in THE ideal location for visiting Rio! It's in the very best part of Copacabana and next to Ipanema. It has a spectacular view! It's ocean front, and on the top floor so you can see all of Copacabana and for miles across the bay!
This is another typical view from our apartment window of Copacabana Bay and SugarLoaf. You can hear the ocean waves, and feel the breezes all day, and all night long! (Photo by Marty & Anthony)
Rent our beautiful, top floor, modern beach-front apt. overlooking all of Copacabana Beach! You will have a SPECTACULAR and unforgettable view for miles. Our view is one of the most iconic views of Rio, and is instantly recognizable all over the planet. You can see ALL of Copacabana Beach and the Bay, Sugarloaf, and all the sunrises, and sunsets. You can see for miles across the bay.
When you stay in our apt. you are on vacation every moment you are in Rio --even when you are indoors. You can see the ocean throughout the apartment, and the cool sea breezes blow all day long.
It's wonderful to have a caipirinha, and watch as the sun sets, and the deep blue twilight envelops the bay. Or enjoy breakfast by the seaside as the sun streams into the apartment!
Even though we are on the top floor, the sound of the waves makes it seems as if the ocean is just out your door. It's wonderful to have the sound of the waves lull you to sleep all night long!
When you stay at our apartment you will have a unique and unforgettable vacation!
But just as importantly, you are in the center of the very best of Rio, so it is like having two vacations in one - a relaxing beach vacation by the sea, and the center of one of the world's most beautiful and exciting cities! So much of Rio's best nightlife and clubs are just around the corner or within walking distance. We are on the border of Ipanema so you can quite easily walk to everything in Ipanema and Copacabana, and it is also an easy and close walk to General Osorio Station in Ipanema, and Copacabana. (Our apartment is between Francisco Sa, and Souza Lima in Posto Seis.
We own the apartment, but live in New York, for 9 months out of the year. You will find our standards for accommodations are also North American, so you will find that the apartment is very well-equipped. Since we live there too, it is not at all like a typical bare-bones Rio apartment rental. If you've rented apartments before in Rio, you will know that we offer the best value you'll find in terms of the ideal location, amenities, and of course, the spectacular view.
The apartment is fully equipped with everything, flat screen TV, DVD player, cable TV,high-speed internet, wireless internet, air conditioning, iPod docking station, alarm clock radio, and a full kitchen including microwave.
You will also find many other thoughtful amenities, like a blender, hairdryer, coffee maker, plenty of dishes and glassware for entertaining. We also have a DVD library of hundreds of movies and television if you want to chill after your adventures! You'll soon find our apartment to be your Brazilian home away from home!
We also have wonderful and charming English-speaking Brazilian apt manager, Diogo, to help you here in Rio, so you have the best of both worlds -- American standards, and local connections!
The apartment can sleep up to 4 people. There is a full-sized bed, 2 single sofa beds. All linens, sheets, towels, etc. are of course, provided. We import all of our 100% cotton sheets, and most of our towels from the U.S.
PLEASE do remember to check the visa requirements for your country. Due to the greatly increased demand for U.S. visas due to the burgeoning popularity of Brazil, wait times for visas can be over 2 weeks. For U.S. residents, Brazil has reciprocal requirements that the U.S. imposes, which can be a bit tricky. The fee for a Visa is $160 for your 10 year entry. It's definitely worth it , but be sure to include this calculation when making your plans. I've had several guests who've gotten to the airport, and were unable to board their plane when it was discovered that they did not have a Visa for Brazil :(
If you stay with us at our apartment, we do our best to ensure that you will have a wonderful, safe, and hassle-free trip to Rio!!
The beach is just out the door, and you will find our apartment is so convenient to everything you will need. Within one block you will find banks, ATMs, supermarkets, juice bars, a delightful European bakeries, Oceanside dining, many bars, pharmacies, newsstands, clothing shops, and a two gyms. The General Osorio Metro station is just 4 minutes walk away, and buses stop behind our building. It is terrifically convenient! It is at the center of all of Copacabana, and Ipanema, and it is easy to walk to most everything in both.
Interaction with Guests
If you are staying at my apartment, I am almost certainly not in Rio! :) However, my apartment manager, Diogo has worked with me for many years, and speaks fluent English, and is easy to reach should you need him.
It's hard to imagine a better location for visiting Rio!! From our location, it is really so easy to enjoy both Ipanema and Copacabana. We have spectacular sunrises and sunsets from our window, but it is so easy to walk a few minutes to watch the sunset over Ipanema. Everything in Ipanema and Copacabana is accessible just by walking. Ipanema is so charming, and Copacabana is 24-7, with lots of nightlife, and so many beach activities. I am here 3 months out of the year, and I rarely need to get into a taxi or metro. One of my favorite things to do is hike to the top of Fort Leme which is at the end of Copacabana. This is a protected and very safe area, and you can walk up to the top for a phenomenal view of Rio, Copacabana, and Sugarloaf -- and you are most likely to have it nearly all to yourself!
It's so easy to walk or run miles in both directions, as well as swim, and surf. Our apt looks down on a paddleboarding school, as well as another for Beach Volleyball. It's so easy to get in terrific shape here, and there are lots of healthy juice bars, and other food choices here, it is the perfect place to get fit and healthy! This neighborhood, is so much fun, and very safe, with so much going on, yet with the constant sound of the waves, and the views for miles, you really get to enjoy nature as well! And you can fill a photo album just by taking pictures from our window -- it is a photographer's paradise!
It's less than 5 minutes walk to the Metro Station General Osorio, and the Metro will take you to the downtown business district, ferry and bus terminals, and to just about everywhere you will want to go. Buses that will also take you nearly everywhere are also at the back entrance of our building at Ave. Copacabana. Of course, taxis are easy to catch and ubiquitous in my neighborhood. But most importantly it is so easy to walk to so many of the things you will want to see, so you will need to spend by far less time getting to places -- you are already there!
Other Things to Note
If you didn't even leave my apartment, amazingly you could have a good trip to Rio, and still see a LOT!! But, of course you will be out and about. Staying here will ensure you really do get the most out of your stay in Rio, both night and day. I work from my computer here for 3 months of the year, and it is wonderful to look up and see the beach, and Sugarloaf, and hear the waves all day. I can even see Copacabana Beach in the mirror as I shave! You will definitely not only experience Rio to the fullest, you will feel a part of our magical city!
Our electrical outlets supply the same current as the U.S. and accommodate plugs for both Brazilian, and all American appliances. We buy virtually all our electrical equipment and appliances in the U.S. and bring them to Rio.
We typically have very quick turnaround times as we are typically fully booked every month of the year! We ask that our current guests follow these simple house rules to help us to prepare the apartment for our next guests:
- Please remember that Check-in time is at 3 pm, and Check -out times is at 11 am. Typically our apartment is booked every day of the month. Should you require a very late check-out, and particularly if you have an overnight flight with an early arrival you may want to book the extra day in advance so you get the most out of every day of your trip. It is critical that any later departures or earlier arrivals be coordinated far in advance of you arrival in Rio! ( I may need to arrange luggage storage with incoming or outgoing guests)
- Please leave the apartment neat and tidy.
- PLEASE REMOVE THE KEY from the KEY RING, and AFTER YOU HAVE LOCKED the door, SLIDE IT UNDER THE DOOR!! . The KEY DOES NOT GO BACK TO THE DOORMAN!
- Please empty trash.
- Please hang any wet towels to dry.
- Please wash dishes, and leave the kitchen very clean if you use it.
- Please notify us of broken or damaged items. It's much easier to replace these things when we know in advance, and then it doesn't inconvenience our next guests.
This was our second time staying at Marty's. His place is wonderful and the view is amazing! Marty goes above and beyond to make sure that your stay is enjoyable. He is extremely accommodating and always easy to communicate with. Book with Marty. You won't regret it! Thanks again for a great stay!
An amazing apartment, a little slice of paradise in the middle of Rio! The apartment, view, and location are all spectacular, exactly as pictured and even better than expected! Hosts are very responsive and helpful. I hope to return and stay in this apartment many times. Highly recommended.
Everything was exactly as seen on the pictures and the manual and the guidelines, which Marty sent us via mail were very helpful to check in properly. Communication was very easy through Facebook and I can recommend this place like everyone else here in this comment section. The place is just right on the Copacabana and it is on the twelve floor, which is easy to access with on of three elevators.
If you look for a well situated place in a safe area in Rio with a well equipped kitchen, a nice bathroom and toilet and a good movie selection for rainy days, just do not look further and choose this place to have a safe heaven for your future exploration of Rio de Janeiro.
Great apartment, amazing location. Thanks, Marty, we had a wonderful time In Rio.
We stayed at Marty's place for almost a week and we loved it. He was very helpful with tips and info both on the place and things one could do in Rio. The apartment has a lovely view by the oceanfront and is only a few minutes walk from Ipamena. There's easy access to everywhere; you may grab a taxi right in front of the apartment and pop to fancy Leblon for a dinner and drinks. And as Marty writes in the apt's description there's a rich movie library, if you're tired from a long day at the beach or sightseeing. Best thing: sleeping with slightly open window and listening to the waves!
