Alec is the friendliest, most accommodating host! Pool fantastic. Rooms and communal kitchen very tastefully appointed.
What a pleasant surprise to find this hide-away! Super quiet during the day and night. You could tell someone with good taste decorated this place. All in Mexican style. Our shared kitchen was a perfect place to make meals, have your morning coffee, relax and read. Alec was always around if you needed something, which we did not as he already thought of everything.
Monica was also there and was as nice and as helpful as Alec.
We would definitely stay again.
I can't imagine an experience which is more Todos Santos... Except for the fact that unlike the roadways through town, Alec's amenities have been constructed to near perfection. In this area of crawling critters, the room is well sealed and the windows house appropriate screens.
Alec's detailed directions are ample but pay close attention. The place can be a challenge to find. He uses the word "arrayos" to describe a derilict roadway with many large stones which create somewhat of a rock crawling experience. Although any rental car can make passage, take your time and use caution. A broken oil pan is possible and something you don't want to have in rural Mexico.
During our stay we had one minor discomfort. On the last two days of our visit, contractors began repairs to the parameter wall near our room at 0730hrs both days. Although I think this is a rarity as they were repairing what appears to be the only damage from the hurricane, it was a noticeable distraction from an otherwise totally peaceful stay.
We would happily stay again and can't imagine a better place in all of Baja. Short of nothing, concealed from everything; perfect stay.
Alec's place was better than we imagined and we'd definitely return - all 8 of us! It is a lovely complex with great sleeping, eating and living space. Super running (and walking)trails down to beach. Two wonderful dogs that will take you running every morning and any time of the day too! The town is small and welcoming. Everyone is friendly and you quickly feel a part of the place. Thank you Alec for a sharing your place with us. - Nadine
Alec is very friendly and helpful. The place is clean and well kept with a lots of plants and a nice pool and sitting area.
Alec's place is awesome. So beautiful…there is a perfect deck with a hammock to watch the stunning sunsets from. It was clean, quiet and peaceful. Alec was a great host, very laid back and helpful. We had a great vacation there.
The ranch was very tranquil and beautiful, and looked just as it is pictured. A friend and I rented two lovely rooms. This place is great if you want a lot of privacy, as it's on the outskirts of town. You definitely need a car to get around Todos Santos proper from this location, as it's a bit out there. We did have a problem with a lot of roaches in both of the rooms, however, likely owing to the recent hurricane. Alec bombed the rooms and gave my friend a net for her bed, but we did have to ask him a couple of times about it before the problem was addressed. Also, the pool was clean and immaculate on our first day, but didn't look like it was being cleaned or filtered at all after that and got to be so murky that we were hesitant to swim in it. Overall, a nice place to stay, and Alec was very friendly, but we would have liked a bit more attention to detail for our money.
Casa Rancho is family owned and operated by brother and sister Monica and Alec, California natives whose Mexican roots called them to the beautiful Baja peninsula.
Alec founded two well established international travel companies (Blue Green Adventures and Journey Mexico) spending over 15 years exploring and sharing the outdoor wilderness areas of Mexico, South and Central America with his guests before embarking on his latest adventure in Baja. His enthusiasm for the outdoors makes him the perfect host for visitors to Baja Sur and if you are looking for something to do that involves adventure and fitness then look no further than your onsite manager!
He can be contacted locally at the Casa Rancho cel phone or via email.
Monica found her paradise in the tranquil town of Todos Santos and with an eye to future retirement decided to purchase and remodel the semi abandoned house that was Casa Rancho. She handles the booking process from California and is available over the phone on our US line and will be happy to answer any questions or help with travel arrangements and make the pre departure process seamless for incoming guests.
