Interaction with Guests
That's up to the guests, some folks like to meet up on the patio for a cocktail and some folks like to keep their own space. We just want to give our guests what they need to have a great experience.
Our neighborhood is very safe with lots of walkers and runners. Great restaurants, grocery stores, and music venues.
We are next to a bus stop that goes directly downtown. We are also very close to a bus hub.
No smoking in the house, but plenty of space in the yard to hang out and smoke away.
My boyfriend, dog, and I stayed here for one month when we moved to town, and it was great having this temporary home to help us feel grounded as we made this transition in our lives. The space was just perfect for us, and we were very appreciative of the kitchen fully stocked with cooking supplies, and bathroom complete with towels, shampoo, and conditioner. The bedroom and living space was comfortable and cozy, and everything was clean and well kept. We loved the small private yard space where we could let our dog out for some fresh air and we enjoyed sitting at the little patio table.
Scott and Rae made us feel very welcome in their wonderful little guest house. We arrived late in the evening while Scott and Rae were out, but they left a key out for us and had emailed instructions on how to let ourselves in. They had thoughtfully turned on the AC for us before we arrived and later that evening Scott came over to say hi and brought us some cream for our coffee in the morning. Scott and Rae were delightful hosts and quick to respond to my email questions and to suggest fun things to do around Austin. They invited us to a happy hour/pool party in their backyard with their friends and family, which was great fun! Our pups became fast friends as well, and would wait for each other at the gate separating our yard space from the main house - too cute! The only thing we had a little trouble with was staying connected to the WiFi, but it may have been my computer, and we solved this by just staying plugged in with the ethernet cord.
The neighborhood was a perfect location for us. It is quiet and safe, but only a block away from 1st street, which leads you right the 71/290 hwy about a half mile north, and is only a 10-15 min drive to downtown. It is a great neighborhood if you have a dog (or kids) since there is a school right down the street where you can go to play fetch, walk the track, etc. We really loved this little spot and I will be recommending it to any family or friends who come to town.
My husband and I stayed at Rae and Scott ' s guest house for 2 months while on a travel nurse assignment in Austin. Rae and Scott were very friendly and hospitable and the guest house was perfect for our short stay. It had all that we needed including kitchenware and linens and all other basic necessities. Not to mention the location was phenomenal! We were just minutes from downtown and basically on S 1st St which is where many popular Austin eateries are stationed. Would most certainly return! Thanks Scott and Rae!
Scott and Rae were awesome hosts!!
I stayed in the guest house for about two months. I have nothing but good things to say about it. It's comfortable and has a full kitchen (with dishwasher!!) While I did have a couple problems during my stay (water not coming through, stuff like that), Scott was super on-top of fixing them and got them fixed before they became a real issue.
Couple of things to note: It is a few miles south of downtown, and there is a bus stop a two minute walk away. However, that bus stops running at night, and the night owl service is a bit further of a walk away. There aren't that many places nearby for food / groceries / drinks, but Scott and Rae provide an awesome list of places that are only a short drive away.
Highly recommended. Great little space, nicely renovated, very clean, very comfortable. House is right on the bus line that heads to the center of downtown. Scott and Rae are great. Wouldn't hesitate to return.
Located in South Austin, a few miles from downtown and South Congress, I found this to be a perfect location for exploring the city. The bed is comfortable and there is plenty of closet space to get your travel gear out of the way. The cute kitchen has enough essentials to get you through simple food preparation, and patio just outside from it is a nice place to get some fresh air, eat a meal, or read. I would suggest bringing an Ethernet cable for Internet access as the wireless signal is weak to absent, a simple thing to deal with. Rae and Scott are great hosts, very concerned that you have what you need.
Gracias, Rae y Scott!
We are a Spanish couple who has come to live in Austin for work. With the jet lag, the language and the travel, we decided to find a house with all the amenities. The guest house and Scott Rae is great! It has everything you need, even more. It was a perfect experience, if we could we would live here during our stay in Austin. The owners are great, we have provided everything we need, even gave us coffee for the first morning and when we arrived the house had the air conditioning on for be fresh! We have been using the pool as if it were part of our house, a dip in the light of the moon! And without worrying about the towels!
I can not say more nice things. Undoubtedly, it has been my best airbnb experience!
Thanks, Rae and Scott!
I enjoy hanging out with friends, running, learning how to play the guitar and Austin. I have my own business helping healthcare providers make enough money to have a good life. My husband, Scott is a remodeling contractor. He makes our house look very nice all the time. And our daughter, Ellie (9 yrs) enjoys swimming. And, we love the Red Sox. We have lots of fun and love life!
