We fell in love with Hawaii because of the Aloha spirit. We want others to enjoy the spirit of Aloha, too. Many of our guests have toured the island and returned to us before leaving Kona. All have raved about our comfortable, clean, affordable ohana, our home and hospitality. They say this was their favorite place to stay in Hawaii, and a better value than other places they stayed. They vow to return and to send friends.

Interaction with Guests
We are currently off-island caring for family members with medical needs, but are available 24/7 via cell phone and text messages. We have wonderful cleaning staff, landscapers, property managers, and a cadre of professionals who can handle any needs that might arise. You just have to let us know, and we'll respond quickly. We are currently renting the upstairs area of our home, and the ohana (in-law unit) downstairs. There is plenty of space and privacy for all. And our Airbnb guests have all been splendid and considerate.
Our neighborhood semi-remote, but close to everything. We are 7 min. from the airport, but hear no noise, as it is not legal to fly over land on the Big Island (except to land and take off).
We are 10 min. from Costco, 12 min. from town and shopping, 20-45 min. from fantastic beaches. Our area is perfect for day trips in all directions! Then you come home to a peaceful setting at a comfortable elevation.
The neighborhood has dogs, wild turkeys, and birds that can sing loudly in the morning. If you are sensitive to noise, you might want to bring soft earplugs.
Public Transit is not irregular on the Big Island. Buses run infrequently, and the nearest bus is about 2 miles away--up a steep hill. You need a car to get around and see all of the great things the Big Island has to offer.
Other Things to Note

We are a really relaxed couple in a lovely neighborhood, with lots of aloha spirit.
House rules are common sense, no drugs or other unlawful behavior, keep noise levels respectful of the neighbors, recycle your cans and bottles. Enjoy your vacation!
Caryl made us feel welcome by calling to check on us after arrival. Her friend Tom greeted us in person. We liked being in a residential neighbourhood.
This was our first airbnb experience & we weren't sure what to expect. Caryl made things easy & gave us lots of local info & treats as well. Great communication throughout whenever we had questions too. Nice clean accommodations in a great residential area.
Wow! I had such a great experience staying at Caryl's place on the big island Hawaii. The house had some very fresh tropical fruits as we walked inside the kitchen. David met us when we arrived and he was very helpful and kind as he welcomed us to the house. All the kitchen supplies you need were there and we were able to make some fresh Kona coffee! The house was very clean and comfortable. The neighborhood is beautiful and super quiet. The location was very conveniently located for driving anywhere on the island and it's pretty close to the airport. I enjoyed the outside deck which had a nice table and I was able to use the outdoor grill to cook some food. The bed is super comfortable and we had plenty of space for our own luggage. We also were able to do the laundry very conveniently which was right by the side of the bathroom. There were plenty of clean towels in the bathroom and the bathroom was very clean itself with a nice standing shower! We really really loved our stay. Her place was a great highlight of our vacation on the Big Island! I highly recommended this house for the hospitality and value. Thank you Caryl for the tips and for letting us enjoy the home!
We had a great time at Caryl Ohana. We were very well welcomed. The place was very clean, cozy, good location 10min from Kailua and 20 from Waikoloa and right by the airport. The neighborhood is beautiful and quiet. The views from the Ohana are beautiful and the sunsets unbelievable. That you can enjoy on the outdoor deck where you have a sofa-futon and a table where we enjoyed dinner every night watching the stars. The internet needed to be re-set and Caryl and her friend David took care of it right away! We also had a laundry room we found very convenient. There were plenty of fluffy clean towels! The house was well stocked with fresh papayas that grow in their own trees. All the kitchen supplies you need and kitchen staples as well. We really enjoyed our stay at an unbelievable price! Highly recommended.
Thank you for your kind review. I'm so glad you found everything you needed to have a comfortable, cozy stay. We all love dining on the lanai.
Yes, David was able to trace the internet problem to the router, and the company issued a "fix" for it within a few hours.
We hope you'll come back next October for Iron Man.!
Caryl was away but had a friend meet us, David. David was super helpful and even shared some papaya bread with us. The equipment/gear was useful. Location was in a residential area, convenient for our plans.
Great stay at Caryl's Kona suite. Everything we needed was provided -- fresh breakfast items, toiletries, wifi, and a very cool and pleasant atmosphere up on the hill. Close to many things we wanted to do on Kona side -- smack dab between the coffee/mac nut farms and cultural sites, snorkeling and surf beaches. Thank you for a lovely stay in your ohana!
