In the Neighborhood Bellavista different and important patrimonial constructions coexist. In the 19th century the zone of Peaceful acquired a character calmer and withdrawn from the center of Santiago, on having installed the General Cemetery (1821), the Church of the Peaceful Dominican (phone number hidden)) and the Catholic Cemetery (1878) to him.
In 1888, during the government of Balmaceda, there began the channeling of the river Mapocho, which meant the precipice of Cal's historical Bridge and Singing that was joining both shores.
With the passage of time, other constructions modified the urban landscape: in the year 1901 the Forest Park is inaugurated, in 1908 the works began in the Hill St Kitts to do of this one a great public space that was "crowned" with the installation of the famous Virgin; in 1912 there establishes herself the Population León XIII, for working catholic families and in the avenue La Paz they concluded the sheds of the Central Vega in 1916.
During the 20th century the increasing Arabic immigration and then Korean that established itself in the sector of Patronage, it converted to the sector into an active commercial and cosmopolitan pole.
To this model of modern and entertaining neighborhood, also he contributed the construction of the Metropolitan Zoo in 1925, which today it shelters near 1000 animals.
Bellavista also shows proudly the house of " The Chascona " that was the residence of the capital of our poet Paul Neruda, Nobel Prize on Literature, located in the heart of this neighborhood.
Few cities in the world have a territory where there centers the architecture, the art, the gastronomy, the parks, the geography of river and hill, the zoo, and the rich diversity of his cosmopolitan inhabitants, since Bellavista has it.
It is the only, special, picturesque, patrimonial sector, of great tourist, cultural and residential value. Numerous artists and writers, as the poet Paul Neruda, who lived in his house " The Chascona " located in the heart of this neighborhood, have found refuge and inspiration in the colouring houses of the sector, the impressive presence of the hill and the entertaining night life.
In Bellavista there exist about 22 rooms of theatre, diverse galleries of art, near 100 restaurants, sheds and shops of exclusivities, which convert it into a safety pin to the moment to visit the city.
Awesome location and Arnoldo was very accommodating, letting us stay due to late flights out of Santiago. Highly recommended!
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Arnaldo was a great host. The place was very clean with a nice doorman at the entrance with our key. Bella Vista is a great neighborhood with a close proximity to several nice restaurants, bars and the metra rail! Arnaldo stopped by the last night to help us arrange a taxi for a 4am Pick for our flight! I would highly recommend using him in the future.
Arnaldo's place is good for party travelers — the bars of Barrio Bellavista are right outside your doorstep. Of course, this means it can get a little noisy during the weekends. Still, if you're looking for a place in a good location (near a metro station and in close proximity to Santiago landmarks), this is a comfortable, decent place to stay in.
