About this listing
Refreshing, relaxing, eco-friendly home, surrounded by gardens! Spacious room with full-sized bed & bath across the hall. Delicious, organic breakfast: our own berries, local eggs, & more. Just 10 min to Amherst and to Hampshire College.
Our mini-farm is peaceful and relaxing, with great attention to wholesome, home-grown food. We care deeply about the earth, choosing to use eco-friendly products, to source our electricity from wind, to heat with wood pellets, and to buy local.
In addition to your private bedroom with full-size bed and bath, you are invited to share our common spaces: kitchen and dining area, living room, back patio, and gardens.
Just a few feet away is the bike path that goes into Amherst (5 mi) and Northampton (11 mi); the Robert Frost Trail and other hiking trails are also nearby.
Interaction with Guests
We will be home during your stay, and we are happy to share our knowledge of the area with you or to leave you to yourselves. If you would like a tour of the gardens, just ask: we're happy to show you around!
We love our little spot--it's quiet, beautiful, and surrounded by conservation land, but still so close to Amherst and all the amenities of the five-college area. We can spend the day in the dirt, then catch a movie and dinner in town . . . or just hang out on the back patio and listen to the birdsong. We have flyers from local establishments for you to peruse, and can make restaurant recommendations, if you are looking for good places to eat.
Amherst is 10 minutes away by car, and 25 minutes by bike. Hampshire College is less than 10 minutes' drive away. By the back roads, Northampton is 15-20 minutes by car, and about an hour by bike.
Other Things to Note
A freight train passes behind the house, so there is some noise from that every once in awhile, and it can pass by at night. We have earplugs handy on hand if you are a light sleeper.
Unfortunately pets are not permitted due to allergies.
We prefer that guests do not smoke.
