The Space

I will be away end of June to end of August. Please check back in the fall and have a wonderful summer!

This is a lovely, wood paneled studio in a safe, environmental and fairly high end rural neighborhood. It's newly built in 2009 with quality construction, fixtures and appointments and is 400 sq ft. It is beautiful and well crafted and provides you plenty of privacy.

The cabin accommodates 2 people (queen size bed).

There is a lot of light with large southern windows as well as windows all around. A private back deck overlooks a small pasture and 540 acres of woods. This back view is very private and surrounded by nature.

It is within a one acre fenced yard and guarded by two lovely dogs who adore being rewarded for their hard work :) Next door is a mini two acre farm with chickens and roosters.

You will enjoy the peace and quiet (with roosters) of a country setting but with easy access to downtown. It is 4 miles to the outskirts of town and 7 miles to the center.

It has wireless internet, WC with shower, kitchen nook with sink, dorm size refrigerator, toaster, coffee pot & microwave, small flat screen T.V. with DVD player (no cable) and a very comfortable queen adjustable bed.

The studio is heated by an electric space heater with a wood stove as an option for those who like extra heat and/or romance. Wood is provided. It is cooled by three ceiling fans and an A/C window unit.

Your sweet companion pets are welcome but please clear with host beforehand and crate them if you plan to leave them alone.

Athens is known for its music & arts scene, the University of Georgia & its football team (go dawgs!) Four miles from our house is a grouping of amenities including gas station and Sr. Sol (one of Athens best Mexican restaurant).

Interaction with Guests

I try to meet my guests at least once but often do not see them much as the studio is completely separate and private. Guests are always welcome to stop by the house for a visit!

Check In
  • This space is simply a wonderful compliment for a visit to Athens. Enjoy serenity and nature by evening and peaceful rural mornings. Then enjoy Athens and all of its small town offerings by day. The unit is accurately described well in both the pictures and narrative. The space is adorable and provides just enough amenity to enjoy the simple space. Kate and Dan are laid-back and very enjoyable hosts. I surely look forward to a future visit to Athens and this space as well. Thank you Kate and Dan!

  • I had such a beautiful time in the city of Athens, and it began with this lovely space. The pictures really are great perspectives for the size and quality of the place - which was more than enough for me. The landscape really provides a picturesque backdrop to the rustic cabin.

Everything that you need to enjoy the space is there for you. Kate and Dan provide a welcome note that really makes adjusting to the space a lot easier. All of your expected amenities are there and function properly, with a few bonues (the furnace was a cool addition, though I did not use it). The only thing that was a little shakey was the Internet (for reference: I accessed the Internet only through my T-mobile samsung Galaxy s3. I do not believe the carrier is big in Athens). Besides that, I was more than pleased.

Meeting the hosts, Kate and Dan, was a pleasure in itself. They were warm, inviting, and very hospitable with both the studio and their own home.

I really hope I get the chance to stay here again.

  • This was a beautiful cabin, well stocked with everything you could need. The owners have taken great care to create a comfortable environment, with gorgeous gardens. It's like a country retreat a hop skip and jump from Athens. We can't get over how affordable it is.

  • Kate is lovely and the cabin is great. It has everything you need to cook, chill out, watch master and commander (if you are that way inclined)... We enjoyed staying here as it is only a 10 min drive into town but it is a nice and quiet place of a night. We saw dear roaming up the lane both nights on the way home! We would have definitely stayed another couple of nights time permitting. Shame. Athens (email hidden) if you like live music and friendly people too. Check out kayaking at the broad river outpost. Thanks kate!

  • My husband and I loved Kate's studio. "Cute rustic studio" does not begin to describe how nice this place was - very beautifully designed with integrated artistic touches, energy-efficient, full of light, with woods all around. The bed was super comfortable - firm with pillow top. Everything was super clean. Wi-fi. A DVD player with movies. Kate was so nice - she offered me fresh strawberries from her garden. We had some good conversations, but she gave us all the privacy we wanted. And we liked the two sweet doggie girls too.

  • Lovely cottage. Bright, warm, tastefully decorated. Totally private. Lots of nature. This is our favorite getaway in Athens.

  • Great place to stay in Athens. Secluded, private cabin - only 7-8 minutes from downtown. I enjoyed my stay and will definitely stay again.

  • Kate's little studio was amazing - cute, comfortable, serene and welcoming. My girlfriend and I were in town for a wedding, and didn't really want to stay in the hustle-bustle of downtown hotels during the weekend of some sort of college sportsball event, so we were overjoyed to find this place (and to find that it was cheaper than most of the hotels, anyway). It was a perfect little private getaway, and I really hope to be able to spend some time in Athens again soon, just so I can stay here! Thanks, Kate!
