The Space

Our home - Au Coin des Amis - is just this side of heaven - a fabulous home located in a Provencal village in the Luberon Valley - the most beautiful area of all of Provence - halfway between Avignon and Aix-en-Provence.

The 190 sm / 2000 sq ft home was previously owned by an artist and elegantly restored in 2010. Provencal charm and architectural detail (wood beams, portes anciennes) throughout .... combined with modern and stylish bathrooms, kitchen and living spaces.

There are 3 luxurious bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. The home was furnished in 2011, including all new household appliances. We are cooks and enjoy entertaining - so you will find the kitchen to be fully equipped. Enjoy a glass of wine on the rooftop terrace or host an intimate soiree in the wine cellar!

Not that you will want to leave "Au Coin des Amis", but just in case there are many nearby villages and things to explore.
Head over to Chateauneuf-du-Pape region for wine-tasting, hike incredible trails in the ocre formations, meander in the daily local markets, explore stunning hilltop villages, take a cooking course -- all within a short distance. (See guidebook for some of our favorites.)

  • Arriving in Rustrel, a quaint little town ,we found the most charming " Village house" . Our weeklong stay can only be called as sheer pleasure. The photos ,as available on AirBnB, truly reflect the elegance and ambience of the house.
With great regret ,though, we had to leave but envy everybody who follows in our footsteps.

  • We had a wonderful holiday in Provence at Beth's gorgeous place. It was exactly as on the pictures.
Beth had sent us all the informations we needed about the house but also about the different places to visit, the markets, the hikings, everything was perfect! The village swimmingpool, just 3min walk from the house, was great. Our kids made friends with the children of the village and had such a good time together.
The village Rustrel is lovely and animated even though it's a small one. Nearby, so many authentic villages high perched on the mountains. And the colorado provencal, waouh, so beautiful, and only 1km from the house!
    We're definitly coming back!!

  • Beth's property was my first Airbnb experience and I'm glad it was. The booking process was seamless, and she provided first-rate helpful local info that you would miss at a hotel.
Most importantly the house itself was excellent - well equipped and impeccably clean throughout, with fresh lavender bouquets in every room. The location is great for making day trips throughout Provence, which is one of the best parts of the world.

Highly recommend and I hope to be back soon!

  • The house is every bit as lovely as it looks in the pictures and we spent two wonderful weeks there. Our kids loved playing in the old wine cellar and we all felt completely at home.
Beth is the best hostess you could wish for - friendly, forthcoming and full of helpful tips and advice.
    Highly recommended!

  • Roger and I had an extremely enjoyable stay in this lovely provincial home. We did not meet Beth, but the instructions she sent via email covered all the household appliances, local walking tracks and reviews on local restaurants which were much appreciated.
The home was extremely quiet as the village is not a mainstream for tourists. There is a bakery, small store, 2 restaurants and a bar only 3 mins walk. Although we only occupied the top floor, there was ample room for 6 people and a full kitchen and dining table to enjoy meals. Beth's instructions on the use of windows and shutters should be heeded as we experienced quite a strong Mistral one evening which blew quite a gale through the house !
All in all a beautiful home to enjoy the Luberon valley and we are grateful to Beth to have accommodated us.

  • This house was a wonderful base for my visit to the Luberon with my husband and parents. It was clean and charmingly furnished/decorated, and has lovely extra features such as a rooftop terrace and a wine-cave. The views from the upstairs windows are gorgeous. Beth was a great host and provided lots of information on the local area, and was extremely responsive to all our queries. We would love to return to this house for another vacation someday!

  • Had an exceptional four day stay in this beautiful home. Beth is a very gracious host and couldnt have wished for anything more. thank you Beth for sharing this slice of paradise.

    May 2013
  • A beautiful place to stay. True to the photos and we really appreciated the comfortable beds. Rustrel is a great location for day trips to markets, perched villages, etc. The house was well equipped and full of information about the locale. It has been tastefully decorated in Provencal style and Beth was really helpful throughout the booking process and our stay. Probably more suitable for adults and older children, as it has many stairs. Highly recommended!

  • We doubt if you could holiday in a more Provencal home. Beth has thought about every detail in refurbishing this house to an exceptionally high standard with total authenticity with a modern and luxurious feel. A wonderful location, too! Allowing walking and visits to other local villages and markets for either morning or day trips. Rustrel still maintains all the charactistics desired in Provence - it's beautifully quiet, has wonderful views, classic architecture and friendly neighbours. The house should cater for no matter who you are!! It's spacious, well appointed and is a unique place in which our party had a thoroughly wonderful time. If we all look after this house, then hopefully we can all enjoy it for years to come.

I'm Beth - an American, who lives in San Francisco. I've just returned to the States after 5 fantastic years living and working in Copenhagen, Denmark. I spent my childhood in Saudi Arabia and my years after university in Eastern Europe. We bought our home in France a couple years ago and have loved getting to know the fabulous Luberon Valley area of Provence - markets, hiking, festivals, vineyards, hilltop villages. You won't be disappointed and you won't want to leave! This is the second year we are renting the home and hope you will fall in love with it as much as we have. We are big fans of Airbnb and have enjoyed getting to know our guests, learning about their interests to help make their stay memorable, and keeping in touch after their vacation has ended too!
