About this listing
You're home away from home at LOLA's: A big comfy bed, couches & table seating, private entry & bath (shower), garden view & access, fridge & microwave, kettle & coffee/tea makings, TV (Basic U-verse), wifi & free and easy parking.
You will find your suite comfortable, private, clean, and spacious with plenty of extra amenities. Guests have found it peaceful and welcoming. It is also a great spot for relaxing and a convenient home base.
LOLA's guests are friends and family from out of town, commuting students, sports fans, culture buffs, and travelers who want a conveniently located home base. The suite accommodates 1 - 2 adults.
Your suite is on the ground level with a private entrance, facing the garden. Guests have commented that "the garden is absolutely wonderful!" They sometimes wish they had more time to enjoy the outside seating and natural feel - we even saw one guest painting a watercolor of the expansive view.
Interaction with Guests
Our living space is upstairs. We are happy to help a lot, a little, or not at all. Guests find us warm hosts willing to answer any questions you might have about the area, and generous with suggestions for places to go and things to do. At the same time we are happy to give you your privacy if you so wish.
Oakmore is an inviting residential neighborhood near the historic Leimert Bridge, Piedmont, Montclair Village, Glenview, and the Dimond District. Above Highway 580, and below Highway 13, there is easy freeway access to Oakland sites, San Francisco, Napa, Silicon Valley, and beyond.
To quote some guests: "The neighborhood is awesome. It's in the hills of Oakland, but feels more like Berkeley." "The surrounding neighborhood has sidewalks, rolling hills, and is absolutely exquisite."
Walk a few blocks to our local community Rocky's Market (here since 1961) for groceries, morning coffee, prepared breakfast and lunch, and a nice wine selection, as well as Redboy Pizza, 3 Seasons Thai Bistro restaurant, and a trailhead that connects to the East Bay Regional Park District trail system. Go down Park Blvd. to Glenview for a cafe, small grocery, and some outstanding restaurants. Alternatively, walk or drive down Fruitvale Ave. (steep) less than a mile to the Dimond District for cafes, bakeries, taquerias, Farmer Joe's, Oaklandish, and other amenities, or drive two miles uphill to Montclair Village for eateries, shopping, and a Sunday Farmers Market (9 am - 1 pm).
Unless you know a local Oaklander who will drive you around, you will most likely need access to a car or cab rides during your stay. There is free and easy street parking on our block. Local bus lines will take you to popular Oakland spots and to BART stations from which you can travel into San Francisco - we are not within walking distance of a BART station. The AC Transit "V" (express) line runs weekdays down nearby Park Blvd., across the Bay Bridge, to San Francisco's Transbay Terminal 6-9 am, and back to Oakland 3-7 pm.
