Welcome to Cold Steel Manor! This garage apartment is located in beautiful East Austin. Close to downtown, Lady Bird Lake hike and bike, East 6th entertainment district, great restaurants, bars and live music venues, everything is at your fingertips.
Come enjoy beautiful Austin! This modern garage apartment is located in the heart of the Holly St neighborhood. It is walking distance to Cesar Chavez and East 6th St restaurants and bars. One mile to downtown, West 6th St, Rainey St and Convention Center. Half mile to Plaza Saltillo train station. Number 21 bus is half block away, Number 17 is blocks away, and both take you straight downtown in minutes.
The apartment has alley access and a parking spot for one car. Complete privacy! But, if you need any thing at all I live in the front house and am happy to assist. This apartment is fully equipped with full size fridge, stove, microwave, 47" LCD TV, stereo, queen bed, full size tub and shower, free WiFi, French Press and so much more.
Please check cancellation policy. Consider travel insurance to protect against any losses.
Getting around without a car is fairly easy. There are two buses close by that go downtown (numbers 22 and 17). There is a train that goes downtown and north, the closest station is Plaza Saltillo. Uber and Lyft also both operate in Austin and are pretty easy to find.
Other Things to Note
A cat did live here recently. The apartment has been cleaned, but if you are severely allergic this might not be the right spot for you. The cat now lives in the front house, but will still occasionally sun on the garage porch.
This is located in a neighborhood, so please behave responsibly.
Allen was such a great host! From the moment I requested a booking all the way until we left, Allen made sure I was always well informed and ready for my trip to Austin. His garage apartment is so incredibly comfy and inviting - I would live there myself! He keeps the place extremely clean and it feels like you're staying at a friend's with a full kitchen available. I would absolutely recommend this place!
Allen's garage apartment was exactly as described and shown in the photos, and perfectly accommodated our needs during our 3 night stay in Austin. My girlfriend was also a big fan and we enjoyed the convenience of 5-10 minute Uber rides to downtown and UT campus. This was our first trip to Austin and we sought an authentic living experience as we will be moving in July; Cold Steel Manor provided this to the fullest extent and if you want to really experience East Austin, it is ideal. Allen was quick to respond to texts and provided us with a couple of spot on dining recommendations. Overall, a 10/10 experience. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in ditching the hotel stay for a true taste of this incredible city.
The check in to Allen's garage apartment was the easiest I've ever had. The door has a code he sent us, so we could come and go as we pleased without worrying about a key. The garage apartment was clean and cozy and perfectly located. The sheets were exceptionally soft! We are private people, so this place was perfect for us. We could not have asked for a better place to stay in Austin.
This place was great! A clean, modern, private space. Well decorated and fully equipped. Allen made sure everything was just right. I'd stay here again for sure.
Allen's listing was even better than looks in pictures. It was comfy, cute, clean, and in a great neighborhood! I would be happy to stay there again.
Clean, cozy and comfortable stay at Cold Steel Manor. Allen was a great host and was available if we needed him but gave us our privacy which was great. The location's proximity to everything couldn't be beat. We really felt at home and would highly recommend staying here.
Great place for our long weekend in Austin! Comfy bed and couch, great kitchen and the living room even a record player. Only met Allen briefly but really nice fellow. Recommended.
I moved to Austin in 2003 to attend UT, and like many other people, I fell in love with this city. I have lived in my current home since 2007 and love the location and amenities that it has to offer. I spend my time playing sports, riding my bike, enjoying the nightlife, checking out bands and eating the great food Austin has to offer.
In 2010 I built a garage apartment with access to the back alleyway, and lived in there for 4 years while renting out the front house. When my tenants moved out I decided to rent out the garage apt to others who visit town for many of the great events Austin is host to. I am more than happy to offer suggestions on anything, including where to eat/drink, buy groceries, sight see, swim, listen to music, etc. Since I live in the front house I am very accessible, but privacy for you and your guests is my highest priority.
