Chiang Mai is quickly becoming one of the most popular destinations in Thailand. The scenic mountain terrain beckons travellers to explore its peaks and forests, while the city is home to a wealth of historic and cultural sites waiting to be discovered.

Whether you’re the adventurous type who loves outdoor activities or a cultured epicure who loves to experience the finer things in life, a holiday in Chiang Mai will more than satisfy you – it will amaze you.

The Night Bazaar is arguably Chiang Mai’s biggest attraction in its self, leading the modern legacy of the Yuannese trading caravans that would stop here along the ancient trade route between China and Myanmar. Historic attractions are a bit thin on the ground around here. The reason people come to the area is primarily to shop and absorb the lively atmosphere.

Other pulls of the Night Bazaar are entertainment focused with a varied selection of bars featuring live performances of boxing, cabaret and singing. However, true to Chiang Mai form there are a few temples speckled around the area; these include Wat Sri Dornchai, Wat Chang Kong and Wat Ubokut. Although these are some of the least spectacular structures within the city it is still well worth checking them out. The Ban Haw Mosque built by the Chin Ho, a group of Chinese Muslims during the 19th century, is also within the Night Bazaar area.

I have to give more details about Baan SongJum Homestay. In front of our place there is a very good Chinese Duck Noodle Soup shop all our guests really like very much same as
home made Dim Some is very good too.

Nui (Parichart) and her sister Goong and Pen are always ready to help you or feed you some dessert or wash and dry a load of laundry when you need it. Breakfast is served from 7 - 12 and is toast and jam or peanut butter or muesli. You can take one cold bottled water from the frig per day and extras are 10 baht which is donated to dog shelters as she has two rescued pooches. There is hot water for instant coffee or tea, and usually, some bananas set out to eat. My room had a queen bed and private bathroom with shower. Thai septic systems were not designed for toilet paper, so you have to get used to hosing yourself down and using TP to dry off with and throw in the garbage. There is a sink and drying rack if you want to wash undergarments in the bathroom. There is Plenty of hot water. There is an oscillating fan in the room and air conditioner, The fan was sufficient for me as the rooms are not in the hot sun but shaded by trees. You can keep stuff in a frig in the kitchen, and you are responsible for washing your dishes after use. There is a huge communal area to eat or drink at, with a small koi pond and lots and lots of plants. Nui puts out bananas for the squirrels, birds, and butterflies to nibble on and its a joy to watch at times. Nui goes out of her way to introduce you to the other guests when possible as she treats everyone like family. I stayed here for a week when I was taking the SEE TEFL course. Its a straight shot up the street on the corner and red bus only cost 20 baht, if you can flag one down Otherwise, it's about a 20-minute walk. I moved to a closer location for SEE TEFL, which I had rented before my arrival in Chiang Mai, but went back many times per week as Nui and Goong make you feel like family and enjoy being in their company. This place is a real slice of what the Thai people are like: smiling and generous and kind beyond expectations. If you are lucky, you will choose to stay there. I did, and I am a better and happier person for it.

Nui and her family were very welcoming at this place. They were very helpful, friendly, and easy to talk to. The residence was very lovely. Plenty of seating area and tables to lounge and eat in. Lots of beautiful plants in the property giving it a tropical atmosphere. I was fortunate to taste their home grown delicious mulberries and star apple. My room came with a full or queen sized bed, desk, chair, lamp, ensuite bathroom, large screened windows, fan, and most importantly high speed internet ranging from 25-30 Mbps. I highly recommend this place and would definitely come back again!

Very helpful staff, private, and just far enough away from the old city to be quiet at night. Would stay again.

Parichart and her crew are so wonderful and caring. They were kind enough to allow us to alter our reservation dates at the last minute, and also allowed us to leave some luggage there for a week while we do the Mae Hong Son loop via motorbike. They can provide tons of advice and info about planning your stay in Chiang Mai. The room itself was perfect. The fan made the room cool enough for our stay in November, hot water showers, good wifi, two free water bottles daily, toast and fruit for breakfast- you can't really ask for much more. Location is fantastic- wonderfully situated for the Loy Krathong festival on the Ping River, walkable to the old city, night market, day markets, very cheap to take the red truck taxis anywhere else you want to go. Her dogs are also so sweet, and as a side note they donate money to a local dog shelter and guests can contribute to this. Loved our stay here and would absolutely return if we find ourselves in Chiang Mai again.

We had an absolutely incredible experience with Parichart at her guest house in Chiang Mai. Her and her family gave us suggestions on things to see and places to go with great recommendations on where to eat. We left Chiang Mai to go north and came back and were welcomed with open arms. Would recommend this place to everyone and would 100% stay here again.

This place is a dream! Very kind and helpful hostess, clean room and kitchen, beautiful garden area for resting or dining. The location is perfect for exploring Old City and close proximity to the night market and also was very safe, private, and (URL HIDDEN) felt like home and we did not want to leave.

Hi my name is Parichart. Everyone calls me Nui. They said my real name is too long and difficult to pronounce. I used to lived and worked in Bangkok more than30 years. Now I am back to my hometown and I am stay at "Baan SongJum" , my birthplace. No one lives in this house for 4 years so I though I have to maintain and renovated this house.
People always asked what does it mean "BaanSongJum" . The meaning is House of Good Memories. Why's that? Because this house has a long histories of one gentleman from Shan State Burma. My grandfather who built this house . He used to work in the jungle north of Thailand and Burma with his British company. He loved wood special Teak . All house is man made and use only axe to curve all pillars. Every year student from Chiangmai University comes to see my house. Because BaanSongJum was one of the Lanna Teak wood house in Chiangmai.
Main house is big and made by teak wood . Guests allow to see the structure of the house and I will show all the pillars and photos of my grand parents in old days in the jungle . And I will tell the stories of the houses and Wat Ket our area.
Now I change private house to be Homestay for people who come to visit Chiangmai feel comfortable like stay with friend. Every guest can relax and take their breakfast when they wake up . And feel like they are in comfortable place and good feelings. The most attractive is our big garden which is full with big trees and many green plant. Mostly our trees are local fruits like Lumyai , mango, banana. All fruits attract many animals like bats, birds, squirrels and many insects. Not so many house has fruit trees in our area so lots of squirrels come to my place. It is routine for me to give fruits to all animals to eat when fruit is out of season. Some of them stay in the ceiling of the wooden house. So it is common to see squirrels run across the roofs or sound of many birds in the morning. Some of our guests said my place likes oasis or countryside in big city.
