1 BR/1BA 640 square ft apartment with balcony close to downtown
The Whittier neighborhood offers parks, an excellent museum (the Minneapolis Institute of Arts is one block away), an art school (Minneapolis College of Art & Design), many different ethnic restaurants on "Eat Street" (Mexican, Malaysian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai, German, Greek, Trinidad home cooking, etc...), easy public transportation, a great record store (Electric Fetus), coffee shops and many friendly people. The apartment is a 15 minute walk to the Minneapolis Convention Center which is on the edge of Downtown Minneapolis.
If you're into rock climbing and biking, there's an indoor rock climbing facility 7 blocks away and a bike sharing station 1 block away at MCAD (runs during the spring, summer, & fall).
The location is also on a bus line going to downtown (where you can easily transfer onto train to and from airport) Minneapolis. If you're interested in exploring downtown, Uptown, Nordeast, please let me know. These neighborhoods are all quite close to the apartment and are aso worth exploring if you have the time.
No smoking, no pets, obviously...nothing illegal. Please recycle. There are bins in the back. Be respectful of neighbors. Have a good time but no crazy partying on the balcony after 10:00 on weekdays, 11:00 on weekends. If you're going to drink, try not to get out of control...one of my previous guests sprayed red wine on my light fixture and white ceiling and she said it was because she got too drunk. If that's your style, try to do (email hidden) instead of the apartment. I found no enjoyment in keeping her deposit.
You're more than welcome to cook and use any of the pots and pans to do so. If you cook, it would be much appreciated if you cleaned up after yourself. Or at least run a sink full of soapy water and throw the stuff in to soak before you leave. The same person who sprayed wine on my ceiling left caked 2 day old pots and pans full of food for me to scrub. You don't need to leave the place spotless, but try not to leave it a disaster. :)
Please make yourself at home and if you find you're missing something or something is awry, please feel free to reach out and let me know.
***Important Winter Snow information***
If you're traveling by car during the winter, please let me know. If we receive a significant amount of snow during the winter months, the city of Minneapolis can declare a "Snow Emergency" which means you'll need to know where you can and can't park during the emergency. (They won't really declare this unless we get some sort of crazy snowfall or something).
Odds are this wont happen, but if we get a significant amount of snow while you're here, please feel free to call me or always call the Snow Emergency Hotline at 612 348-SNOW (7669) to find out where you should park.
I was greeted at the door by my host, Kevin, and he showed me around the apartment. It is exactly as described in the listing page, and very comfortable. (Excellent water pressure by the way.) I was attending a conference at the Convention Center, and this apartment could not have been positioned any better. It was an easy walk - about 12 minutes. A coffee shop is well-positioned exactly between the apartment and the Convention Center - life is good. I was able to buy some yogurts and other breakfast food to keep in the refrigerator. I wish I had time to go to the Minneapolis Museum of Art, only 2 blocks away. I felt safe in this diverse neighborhood, and it wasn't particularly noisy. A bus does stop near the corner, but it wasn't loud. I would stay here again, absolutely.
Great location and really nice apartment. Kevin was a super host, and even left me chocolates, coffee and other snacks. I'll definitely stay there again if my travels take me back to Minneapolis.
Kevin was probably the best host ever! The apartment was super well-equipped, and Kevin was kind enough to share his knowledge of the area and point us in the right direction for food. Private, sunny and cozy, Kevin's place gets an A+!
This was a great, cozy apartment, perfect for two people, with a well-supplied kitchen. The location was perfect for a short walk to both downtown and uptown, as well as right near the Minnesota Institute for the Arts. Also, it was easy to walk to cafes and restaurants. The view of the park across the street from the apartment also added to the great experience. Even though the apartment is close to everything, the neighborhood is quiet and very walkable. The host was also very quick to respond to all inquiries.
Kevin's apartment is a terrific home base for a stay in Minneapolis. We had a super-smooth arrival and key handoff, enjoyed touches like the snack-and-coffee assortment he left for us, and really liked the apartment itself (comfy bed! excellent light! great water pressure in the shower). Plus, it's super-convenient to everything: right next to the MIA and a couple blocks from Eat Street; 3rd Ave S takes you quickly downtown or to Northeast; and there's a giant laundromat a block away.
Kevin was courteous and flexible with meeting me at a later time. The apartment was clean and I really appreciated the little welcome treats. Kevin made an extra trip to bring me a coffee grinder and tea kettle when he found out I drink coffee. :-) The apartment is sunny, warm, and relatively quiet for being in the middle of the city.
Everything was great with the trip - the place was in excellent condition as described in the listing. Kevin even left us coffee and a few snacks to munch on.
Hi. A bit about me:
I live and work in about a 2 mile radius. I trade bonds for a living and when I'm not working, I like to go run around the lakes (I can give you some nice routes if you're also a runner...anywhere from 3 miles to 13.), go out to eat, watch movies, bike around and hang out with friends and family.
I live in a great city that values and embraces the arts, commerce, diversity and being openminded....and its great.
When I'm not in Minneapolis, I am visiting family & friends in different parts of the country. I like to travel around and see new and different things. If you come to Minneapolis, I'll try to make sure you have access to things us Minneapolitans like to do and see.
If you'd like to stay here, message me regarding your trip and a little about yourself. Also, let me know if you have any additional questions and I will answer them as best I can.
