About This Listing
Welcome to the oldest part of the city. The refurnished flat is really very spacious with high ceilings so you will feel home. All interesting spots/public transportation are within walking distance ;-)
Unique **** bedroom/suite complete with dressing and private bathroom in the old heart of Barcelona.
The room is really very large with high ceilings , guests are always impressed, even after they'd seen the pictures previously. Your own bathroom is at the end of the corridor (like in most old flats in Barcelona) and includes a shower with tub.
You'll enjoy your stay in a completely refurbished apartment which has all possible comfort like air-conditioning/central heating and free wifi. Shared American kitchen is at disposal to cook for yourself or to have breakfast.
Most guests like to have breakfast outside on one of the terraces or brunch places around, but there is always bread, milk, coffee around in the kitchen ;-)
All amenities are closely, like metro stations (green and yellow lines), grocery shops, original fashion stores, little hidden bars and restaurants...the beach at 15 min walking ...
Of course towels and sheets are included in the price. Also internet WIFI. The wash-machine can be used if needed.
A hair dryer is at disposal as well.
On privacy: there is my room and the guest room (separated by thick walls and in between there is the living room), and two individual bathrooms. This means there are no other guests, only occasionally friends or family from abroad coming over for a drink or dinner. Happily enough most Airbnb members are cool and just enjoy to share a bit of home life while traveling. You might even find yourself sharing some bottle of excellent Spanish wine at home with me during your stay.
On noise in the street: several guests mention the noise. During the day it is quiet and there is hardly no traffic (as well as at night). Since it is the heart of Barcelona you will always have people coming back or going to bars and restaurants and that -sometimes- can be heard even though the windows are double pane. Most guests are ok and dont even bother but if you are sensitive to outside noise it is recommended to take earplugs preventively.
The Gothic Quarter is the centre of the old city of Barcelona. It stretches from La Rambla to Via Laietana, and from the Mediterranean seafront to Ronda de Sant Pere.
You have access to your own room, bathroom, balcony and if you want to sit in the living room this is also possible. The kitchen is at disposal even tough most guests never cook while on vacation. But hey, if you want to have your own drinks and tapas in the American kitchen you are most welcome ;-)
Depending on my own available time I am reachable or available for any questions or requests or even to give you some advice or recommendations during your stay.
The gothic district is the oldest part of the town and in my opinion the most interesting one, even tough some people think it might be insecure (which is not true). There is a growing variety of small shops, event agencies, bars, museum, monuments, restaurants and discos all within walking distance. The mix of people is interesting and so just take a stroll into the narrow streets and follow your intuition to discover.
There is a parking lot at just 300m from the apartment. Public transportation within 10 min walking and if you need a taxi you can get one just down the street (200m) and u will never have to wait (besides taxis are ridiculously cheap in barcelona). From my flat (door to door) to the airport it won't take you more than 20 minutes ! How's that ? ;-)
Just a few rules of common sense:
leave the kitchen tidy as I do, so, after use, clean and leave the dishes in the dishwasher
Late at night be respectful of neighbors who may be sleeping etc.
Always be be sure to lock the apartment door.
Smoking on the balcony is allowed only with the access door closed.
Have fun !
Michel made my 8-night stay in BCN so memorable. The apartment is better than described: clean, historic, centrally located and is very safe. The guest room is HUGE and tall with beautiful plasered ceilings. The street below and surrounding area are lined with delicious and affordable options of all cuisines and away from the pickpockets of Las Ramblas.
I appreciate Michel's thoughtfulness in inviting me to join a small dinner party of his friends for an authentic Syrian meal. It was an experience that is hard to duplicate if staying in a hotel.
Michel was great with his recommendations of when to visit each of the sites of Barcelona. He also allowed me to do my laundry as I travel very lightly when in Europe for multiple weeks -- a huge plus. Also, Michel not only arranged for a very early morning taxi to the airport for me, but waited outside until the driver arrived.
Make sure you try at least one of the restaurants that he owns in the neighborhood: Belgious for the most wonderful gelato and Gilda, for a Belgian/Catalan fusion. The Bravas Gilda are to die for!!!
I have friends visiting BCN in the fall and will definitely recommend they stay at Michel's apartment. If I return, I'll be back. Thanks!!!
Beautiful place! Beautiful people! Perfect stay and holiday very comfortable would recommend this place to everyone :) michel made us feel right at home!
I had an excellent stay at Michel's place. Very large room, very clean. The location is perfect to visit the key sites of this part of Barcelona. Despite his busy schedule, MIchel ha taken the time to ensure all is ok, helped me personally to resolve a small travel issue.
About the Host, Michel
I moved to Barcelona in 2007 after been working in the IT industry for many years and traveling extensively. Barcelona meant a big change for me : another country, another culture, another language...and switching from being employee to being an entrepreneur.
I enjoy the exceptional flat with large spaces and heigh ceilings, the neighborhood... and the fact that in Barcelona you have both the sea and the mountains at disposal. At this moment you'll find me very dedicated to my business ...so besides working from home or attending my business there is not so much time left for leisure. However I manage to have my daily portion of sports (running, gym, swimming, bike...) to keep me fit and balanced. I'm an outgoing guy, tech-freak and foodie ;-)
