About this listing

The space

Welcome to the oldest part of the city. The refurnished flat is really very spacious with high ceilings so you will feel home. All interesting spots/public transportation are within walking distance ;-)

Unique **** bedroom/suite complete with dressing and private bathroom in the old heart of Barcelona.

The room is really very large with high ceilings , guests are always impressed, even after they'd seen the pictures previously. Your own bathroom is at the end of the corridor (like in most old flats in Barcelona) and includes a shower with tub.

You'll enjoy your stay in a completely refurbished apartment which has all possible comfort like air-conditioning/central heating and free wifi. Shared American kitchen is at disposal to cook for yourself or to have breakfast.

Most guests like to have breakfast outside on one of the terraces or brunch places around, but there is always bread, milk, coffee around in the kitchen ;-)

All amenities are closely, like metro stations (green and yellow lines), grocery shops, original fashion stores, little hidden bars and restaurants...the beach at 15 min walking ...

Of course towels and sheets are included in the price. Also internet WIFI. The wash-machine can be used if needed.
A hair dryer is at disposal as well.

On privacy: there is my room and the guest room (separated by thick walls and in between there is the living room), and two individual bathrooms. This means there are no other guests, only occasionally friends or family from abroad coming over for a drink or dinner. Happily enough most Airbnb members are cool and just enjoy to share a bit of home life while traveling. You might even find yourself sharing some bottle of excellent Spanish wine at home with me during your stay.

On noise in the street: several guests mention the noise. During the day it is quiet and there is hardly no traffic (as well as at night). Since it is the heart of Barcelona you will always have people coming back or going to bars and restaurants and that -sometimes- can be heard even though the windows are double pane. Most guests are ok and dont even bother but if you are sensitive to outside noise it is recommended to take earplugs preventively.

The Gothic Quarter is the centre of the old city of Barcelona. It stretches from La Rambla to Via Laietana, and from the Mediterranean seafront to Ronda de Sant Pere.

You have access to your own room, bathroom, balcony and if you want to sit in the living room this is also possible. The kitchen is at disposal even tough most guests never cook while on vacation. But hey, if you want to have your own drinks and tapas in the American kitchen you are most welcome ;-)

Depending on my own available time I am reachable or available for any questions or requests or even to give you some advice or recommendations during your stay.

The gothic district is the oldest part of the town and in my opinion the most interesting one, even tough some people think it might be insecure (which is not true). There is a growing variety of small shops, event agencies, bars, museum, monuments, restaurants and discos all within walking distance. The mix of people is interesting and so just take a stroll into the narrow streets and follow your intuition to discover.

There is a parking lot at just 300m from the apartment. Public transportation within 10 min walking and if you need a taxi you can get one just down the street (200m) and u will never have to wait (besides taxis are ridiculously cheap in barcelona). From my flat (door to door) to the airport it won't take you more than 20 minutes ! How's that ? ;-)

Guest access

Your own space, which is the guest room with dressing, bathroom, kitchen and dining room

Interaction with guests

While I'm at home I'm always available for help or advice, I always share my phone number to make sure you can contact me if you have urgent matters to solve

Other things to note

Being discreet entering or leaving the building : the entrance hall is very heigh and is like a internal patio so all sounds resonate and can be heard from the other flats ;-)

Spacious twin room and adjoining dressing room. Bathroom is well equipped and for your sole use but is not en-suite and accessible through another room. Street below is lively and noisy fir a few minutes each night when rubbish collected. Great having a host on site to offer advice on things to do and see but we still had all the privacy we needed. Wifi is free and host happy to connect you. Well worth making the time to eat at Michel's restaurant ( Gilda - just round the corner). Would happily stay again - so convenient.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Michael's place for a few nights while we were in Barcelona - it was brilliantly located - only a short walk from everywhere we wanted to be. We forgot that it was going to be Easter weekend while we were there so it was very busy, but with that came a fantastic energy. Those who have problems sleeping I would suggest bringing earplugs as the street can get a little noisy at night (don't let this deter your from booking this apartment though - I am a very light sleeper and it didn't actually bother me at all) you should pass out quickly from all the walking around the city anyway! Michael was a great host! Really very cool, super friendly but also gave us our own space to do as we pleased. I would also thoroughly recommend eating at his resturant! I promise you will NOT be disappointed! :)

Very conveniently located in the old town of Barcelona, within easy access to many of the sights, public transport, shops, cafes etc. My sister and I were invited to dinner with Michel and we sat around the table with 5 differently nationalities. I'm a light sleeper so despite warnings about street noise ( the alleys are narrow and the sound travels up) it did catch me out however my sisters slept right through. But ear plugs or "white noise" does help. Lots of good eateries about but sure to follow Michels advice. Can thoroughly recommend Salamanca's Menu del Dia. to get there when flying in I would recommend the train R2 toSants Estacio and metro L3 (green) to Drassanes. You can get 1 trip metro card for under 10 Euros and share it with you other travel partner

I had a fabulous stay at Michel's! This is what I loved about his place: 1. Michel was very helpful, very communicative and a great host overall .... and he even let me borrow his computer for a little while when I had a minor emergency with one of my websites that I needed to fix and i couldn't do it from my tablet. 2. Michel owns an amazing foodie-caliber fusion restaurant right around the corner from the apartment so I ended up eating there every night, just to try several of his different dishes. Everything I tried was fabulous! As a solo traveler, it was also very nice to have a place where I knew people could enjoy a great meal every night and also meet several new, interesting people that Michel introduced me to. 2. Not only was the room in the apartment spacious and comfortable with a super comfy bed and huge walk-in closet, the bedroom, bathroon and the whole place was very, very clean. 3. Michel also lets you use the kitchen if need it, which is a nice option. I only used it for making coffee which Michel generously provided, but I felt right at home and would have felt comfortable using the kitchen if necessary. 4. Location. Optimal! It's very convenient to Las Rambles and many of the sites around town. I mostly walked to everything, other than a couple times when i took the metro which is also only a short walk away. 5. Michel' s super nice partner and other friends who I met at the apartment and/or at the restaurant were all very friendly, welcoming and laid back. Again, as a solo traveler, feeling like you have friendly people making you feel welcome is huge. 6. If you're a business traveler, the fact that there's a desk and great Wi-Fi right in the room is also a plus. I highly recommend staying at Michel's place and eating at his wonderful restaurant!

Michel User ProfileMichel is a superhost.

I moved to Barcelona in 2007 after been working in the IT industry for many years and traveling extensively. Barcelona meant a big change for me : another country, another culture, another language...and switching from being employee to being an entrepreneur.
I enjoy the exceptional flat with large spaces and heigh ceilings, the neighborhood... and the fact that in Barcelona you have both the sea and the mountains at disposal. At this moment you'll find me very dedicated to my (URL HIDDEN) besides working from home or attending my business there is not so much time left for leisure. However I manage to have my daily portion of sports (running, gym, swimming, bike...) to keep me fit and balanced. I'm an outgoing guy, tech-freak and foodie ;-)
