La Paz is best by bicycle or walking.
Julio and his wife were amazing hosts. They welcomed us in answered any questions and helped us get set up with anything we wanted to do. They let us borrow a couple bikes to explore the city. We enjoyed breakfast together everyday we were there and they even joined us for a snorkeling trip with the whalesharks (and gave me a bunch of the photos that they took after the photos I took didn't turn out). I felt like I made new friends and plan to stay in touch with them. For the price, I would definitely recommend staying with Julio and his family.
The family are very welcoming, very kind and very accommodating. I had a wonderful time staying with them. I went out early one morning but Mrs Ysla also got up early and made me a delicious breakfast. When I returned I was always offered food or a drink. Breakfasts are delicious and you are able to eat as much as you like (I had toast with cheese and tomatoes, fruit, cereal and was offered much more).
I am planning on returning next year due to its brilliant location in la Paz and the worth of welcome I received.
You do need to like dogs/not be allergic as they have 2 very friendly dogs.
The family was very welcoming and curious to learn about other cultures and meet new people. The house is well situated downtown and they have two mountain bikes that are very useful to get around town. You have to love dogs as they have two Chihuahuas.
