The Space

We're right next to the A/C/1 trains and across the bridge from Yankee Stadium. We have high speed wifi, easy street parking, and a great amount of space. The floor are hardwood. We also have lots and lots of books. I love having visitors and will likely be staying in the apartment as well during your visit, but I'm clean and quiet and often gone. :)

Our second floor apartment has also got a giant kitchen and a pretty charming bathroom with an accordian-style vanity mirror. Two bedrooms, both large. One has a big closet. Also have two hall closets with a good amount of space. There's a washer/dryer in the basement (we're on the second story) if you should need it as well.

The neighborhood is safe and friendly. There's a public school about a block away, and the building is full of children and families.

Tons of 24 hour bodegas nearby if anything is needed, and you're a short train ride from Midtown/virtually anywhere you may want to go in Manhattan. I've lived here for about a year and a half and I really like it here. There's a grocery store and a Rite Aid 5 short blocks north.

There are some fun bars about 10 blocks up near the hospital, including a pretty decent Irish pub that tends to be my favorite. Restaurants in that area as well, and it's a short walk.

  • Nice affordable place to stay. we did not have the chance to meet Rachel but she was easy to contact and everything was set up for our arrival. A good choice for us !

  • Rachel was a very polite and obliging host who offered me her other space for the same price despite it being listed for more. It was clean, cozy, quiet and nice – in short: perfect for my short stay, in order to relax there and find some long-needed sleep. Key delivery was uncomplicated, just as the rest of the communication and stay. Would always come back and can only recommend Rachel as a host (have a look at her other ad, as this applies for her bigger Brooklyn apartment)! Thank you, Rachel!

  • Nice experience. Building and flat easy to find, not far away from Manhattan and the subway station. The flat is wide, the coach a bit strong but perfect for young people. I think there is access to the flat top roof but didn't had a chance to go to. Fancy pub just at the corner to see concert and have beer and food. Rachel is very nice and helpful.

  • Actually stayed at Rachel's new place in Bushwick. She was a great host. The place is very clean and quiet, I slept quite well in the guestroom. I arrived during a cold snap and she had the heat on for me when I arrived with a shot of whisky. I pretty much had the place to myself, made some Raclette melted toast in the oven one evening. She has French press and a burr grinder so making coffee in the morning is not a problem. The Bushwick place is off the J/M which is convenient for getting to lower Manhattan. So yes, it was a very nice stay and I appreciate it.

  • I stayed at Rachel's place for a week around New Year's. I'm not so sure if she even lives in the apartment because they are hardly any personal belongings. Looked more like an Air BnB only apartment to me. My experience was not very positive. I was very disappointed with the condition of the place. Maybe this was due to my high expectations, but clean sheets and enough cups, bowls etc. would have been nice for a start.

  • Great place in Bushwick. Me and my firend really enjoyed our stay in Rachel's apartment. Very close to Subway that will take you to Manhattan within 20 minutes or so. Very close to Williamsburg - were night life never ends.

  • I stayed with my girl-friend in Rachel’s apartment. Rachel is a very nice person. She was very helpful. The location is good as there are two subway stations within a very short walking distance. The room is nice, quiet and clean. However, if you need a hygienically clean bathroom you might not be satisfied. For us it was no problem. We would recommend Rachel’s room to our friends.

  • I stayed at Rachel's with a friend for ten 10 and we really enjoyed our stay.
The place was cozy and confortable, besides the subway stop was down the street which is an important thing for the people who want to visit New York.
Rachel was always very kind and willing to help us.
The neighbourhood is safe and quiet.
I will recommend Rachel's place to people who want to spend some days in NY.
Rachel was a great host and I hope I'll come back soon!

I'm a 30-year-old tech startup entrepreneur - I founded a company that embeds microlending in mobile games, so that as people play, they can help out micro-entrepreneurs in East Africa, and eventually in other places. We're currently in 2 games, will be in 2 more in the next 3 weeks, and like 50 more in the pipeline. We want to transform the definition of gaming so that it always includes social good. Prior to launching the startup, I made a global documentary about the impact of microlending on women, which was shot on four continents. I used to be a Futures/Equities Trader and left my job to launch this passion project. I love meeting new people. I love novelty. I think part of my purpose it to do what I can to make the world a better place for women to live, because then it will be a better place for us all. I'm a low key guest - I love wandering around and exploring a place on my own. As a host, I'd love to help you out and get you acclimated to whatever extent makes you feel comfortable. My schedule is generally fairly flexible, so I'd be happy to invite you alone as I'm doing whatever I do in the city, and I'm also happy to give you space to explore on your own - it's whatever you'd prefer. Would love to host you!
