This room is located on the 1st floor of my home. It is in a beautiful duplex apartment in Brooklyn that is 15 minutes away from downtown Manhattan by trains. My neighborhood borders both a Jewish and a West Indian community and I live on a small block that is located across the street from a playground and one block away from the Interfaith Hospital. There are post offices, pharmacies, grocery stores, hair and nail salons, supermarkets and other places that provides a variety of amenities nearby. The C train is just one block away & the A trains are two blocks away, the LIRR is also a block away and other means of public transportation are very convenient just in case one does not drive. There is a parking garage that is located three blocks away from my home, also a BP Gas station and a Seven Eleven is located around the corner just in-case one does drive. Furthermore, The Children's museum, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Bridge, Prospect Park and the Botanical Garden are all amazing sites to see while staying at my home.

Portia was a great host. I did not run into her much at the actual apartment but she doubled as my broker during my move to NYC so I got to know her a bit. She is very warm and friendly and eager to help you in any way. As for the space, the room is very large and has a private entrance to the shared bath. All other guests pretty much kept to themselves so it was very quiet place to retreat. I met her mom upon my arrival and she was sweet as well. The location is very convenient to the train (A/C) and there are a lot of places to get a quick bite near by. This is definitely a great spot for exploring Brooklyn further.
We konden steeds terecht bij Portia met onze vragen. Alles is correct verlopen.
Portia was not there when my boyfriend arrived but that is because his flight was very delayed and it was the middle of the night- so that was fair enough. They made other arrangements to hand over the keys. Portia was great to answer emails and helpful when necessary, although I didn't meet Portia personally she was very easy to contact and matters were resolved very quickly.
We were, however, supposed to stay for a much longer period of time than what we did but there is a lot of noise from the subway which runs past the apartment less than 50m away. Additionally, we found the cleanliness of the communal areas to be very poor and not something that we could not live with for a long period of time. As a short stay it would be less of an issue as you would most likely eat out all of the time.
The fact that you share with others is of no real issue; in fact, it makes the apartment quite homely but then there is a lot of reliance on others to clean up after themselves, which means basic cleaning needs are not attended to.
The neighborhood is fine- there are a lot of hidden gems to be found, you just need to do a little research and you'll find them. Also there are supermarkets and laundromats very close by and the subway station is a couple of minutes walk away.
As a short stay the room which is a very good size is adequate. Some of the furniture however is now quite old and tired and could be replaced. But it is comfortable enough and the air conditioning was an added bonus in the humid nights.
Portia was very kind. The accommodation was very convenient for me who wanted to visit both Manhattan and Brooklyn. The room is confortable. Thank you again for your hostpitality!
We stayed 2,5 months at Portia's house. The room is big and clean like The living room and the kitchen so you can have your privacy or divide time with the others roommates. The place is really close to the subway and you have everything you need in the neighborhood. Portia is really nice and helpfull.
We spent 6 days in the large room. The place is comfortable, conveniently located near a subway station and easy to reach from JFK airport.
Portia was a fantastic host, very lovely and friendly. The room was great and very large. I had an amazing time staying there and would thoroughly recommend it. Thanks Portia!

I love living a life that is full of adventure and new experiences. Music, art, foods are all wonderful adventures that can be very exciting to indulge in. Hence, living in Brooklyn enhances the excitement while adding a diversity that never gets dull. In my free-time I love to have a nice lunch or dinner at a trendy restaurant in Manhattan. When I crave a lovely glass of wine and some escargot the place I like to go is Balthazar. I also love sushi and foods that are spicy so there are many other wonderful restaurants to go to for that too. Music, music I love all types of music, especially Latin and world music. I also enjoy going dancing with friends or visiting an art gallery. The Broadway plays are fun to see too and afterwards, going home to Brooklyn is a nice escape from the big city.
Having me as a host would be quite an experience because I understand what hospitality means; I have worked within that industry for many years and I take great pleasure in welcoming guests into my home. Besides visiting a big city and enjoying what it has to offer one also must be able to go home to somewhere that is quite relaxing and soothing to the soul.
I also work as a licensed real estate sales agent; if you are interested in residing in Brooklyn for the long haul I can certainly help you with finding an apartment or home-
