Very big house in an accommodating neighborhood. Lots of room for privacy. Quite close to any necessities, even better if you don't mind walking (I enjoyed walks to Prospect Park, farmers/flea markets, restaurants and museums). The house was always clean and Portia helped me out with anything I needed. I stayed here for four months and really grew to love the neighborhood and this room. Wish I could go back!
I stayed with Portia for just under a month while I was doing a course in Manhattan. I found the room to be exactly what I needed, simply furnished but very clean and the apartment is lovely. Portia was a great host, I didn't see her very much because she lives in the adjoining apartment and I was out a lot but when I did see her she was very friendly and helpful, and whenever I emailed her with a question she got back to me very quickly. The apartment is well placed for the subway and the A and C trains take you into Manhattan in around 25 minutes.
It was a pleasure to have Caitlin stay at the apartment. She was very quiet and didn't ask for much. Whenever I spoke with her she was always polite and friendly. She kept the space very neat and tidy, which I greatly appreciated. I would certainly welcome her back to my home anytime.
I stayed at Portia's place for one month and it was a great experience! Room is clean and private. She also provides new towels and blankets/sheets on a weekly basis. The neighborhood is nice with all the things you need in a walking distance. I would certainly prefer to stay there next time I am in New York.
Nice room with aircondition in a safe neighborhood. I stayed here for 12 nights and was very pleased with everything.
There were three other travellers staying in the rooms next to mine and they were all super friendly which only made my stay better.
You can use the livingroom and kitchen as well which is very nice. You only share it with the other renters. Big supermarked right down the street.
The host is rarely home so you have everything to yourselves. She will answer within 30min if you write her with any problems.
Subway to the city is close and takes about 15-20 minutes.
Everyone is responsible for keeping bathroom clean but it would have been nice with some more frequent cleaning of the kitchen.
It is a good place for travellers who wanted to save some money. I had a nice stay!
Portia is really kind and she cares guests a lot so I stayed NY very comfy and cozy. It good for traveler who stay more than a week. It was suitable for me the price and the distance from Manhattan. The best point was It's close to JFK and also has big room for one person.
This was my first airbnb and i was a little skeptical about it at first but staying with portia put all my worries to rest. She was a great host and available when I needed something. Even helped me out so i could change me reservation and leave early with out having to pay a change fee. she was always quick when you asked her to wash your sheets and towels. i think the picture shows a desk in the room but there isn't one, not really a big deal. the only negative thing i can say about living here was that the place is only as clean as the dirtiest roommate and the ones there while i was there weren't the cleanest. It didn't really matter to me because i was never actually home, but got annoying when i was. Portia did a good job of hearing those issues and reminding the roommates to follow the house rules and make sure to clean up after themselves but they don't always listen. overall a good experience. would do it again

About the Host, Portia
I love living a life that is full of adventure and new experiences. Music, art, foods are all wonderful adventures that can be very exciting to indulge in. Hence, living in Brooklyn enhances the excitement while adding a diversity that never gets dull. In my free-time I love to have a nice lunch or dinner at a trendy restaurant in Manhattan. When I crave a lovely glass of wine and some escargot the place I like to go is Balthazar. I also love sushi and foods that are spicy so there are many other wonderful restaurants to go to for that too. Music, music I love all types of music, especially Latin and world music. I also enjoy going dancing with friends or visiting an art gallery. The Broadway plays are fun to see too and afterwards, going home to Brooklyn is a nice escape from the big city.
Having me as a host would be quite an experience because I understand what hospitality means; I have worked within that industry for many years and I take great pleasure in welcoming guests into my home. Besides visiting a big city and enjoying what it has to offer one also must be able to go home to somewhere that is quite relaxing and soothing to the soul.
I also work as a licensed real estate sales agent; if you are interested in residing in Brooklyn for the long haul I can certainly help you with finding an apartment or home-
