The apartment is in a great location - a block away from the express train so access to midtown was quick and easy. Despite being a block away from the busiest street in Harlem, the apartment was very quiet. It was comfortable and Melanie is a perfect hostess. She answered any questions I had quickly. I would definitely stay there again.
We spend a good time in Harlem diggs. We spend an amazing trip in New York. Harlem diggs its a good place to be, close to underground, and easy to catch a taxi. The appartement is enough for 2 people close to the supermarket too. Thank you to air bnb for this good deal and thank you to our host Melanie.
Our stay at Melanie's place was very nice. The apartment is very clean, you will find plenty of fresh towels and a comfortable bed. There is everything you need in the apartment and as other reviewers have noted, the neighborhood is very convenient for traveling, shopping, dining etc. Most important of all, Melanie is an excellent host. She is very friendly, accommodating and ready to help with whatever you need. Thanks Melanie for everything, and also her son Menelik, thank you, for helping us with our issue with Amazon delivery. Overall, Harlem Diggs is highly recommended for anyone wishing to spend a peaceful time in NY.
Perfect base in New York City. I rented this apartment with my cousin for the month of August. The apartment is only 1 block away form the 2/3 express trains, also the A/B/C/D trains are nearby. You can get around easily and fast this way. Neighborhood is great, you can find everything you need within walking distance (Pharmacy, Grocery store, Bodega, Post Office, etc.) also a lot of places to get food or dine around, and the nightlife on Lenox Avenue is nice. (bar called Corner Social at end of street) Shopping on 125th is awesome, especially if you are into street wear and urban clothing, lots of sneaker stores.
The apartment was very clean when I checked in, and everything worked properly. It is spacious too, especially for NYC standards. Comfortable and equipped with everything we needed.
Melanie was a great host, very welcoming and funny. Although I haven't seen her a lot during my stay, she was always very nice and friendly, even reached out to me thru txt mssg a couple of times to check if everything was ok and if we needed our towels/linen washed. That was very sweet and thoughtful.
I can definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting New York and wanting to experience the city like a local. Harlem is great, the apartment is great, and from there it's easy to get to midtown and the rest of the city, what else do you need?
Excellent first AirBnB experience : )
Our stay in Harlem Diggs was really nice; Melanie was available if we had any questions, and the neighbourhood, really, is great. Many markets around (on 125th Street), nice places to eat (you have to try the Red Rooster!), many things to see. It's worth taking the time to explore the area. Walking tours are available, given by people who love their neighbourhood. The Subways and buses are also very accessible.
At all moments we felt safe walking on the streets, even at night.
The apartment was nice, although the kitchen could be better equipped - the pots and pans are hardly usable on gas because the metal is to thin and everything just sticks in them. A toaster and a cutting knife would also be nice. The shower has very low pressure, but we get used to it.
Besides that, we were always glad to come back home after a long day of walking. The area is very quiet, thus close to everything.
Thanks to Melanie, our stay was great!
The apartment is very nice and quite big. It has everything that you coud need and is very comfortable. We spent a week there. The location is not the best, especially when you are back late in the evening, but the 125th street is ok, so you can walk through that. Public transportation around is great! Two subways and a very convenient bus stop.
The host was very nice. We have reiterated problem with the toilet during our stay and she was prompt to solve them.
We would suggest other people to stay there for their holidays!
I booked a trip to NYC for my friend and Melanie was AMAZING from the very first time i contacted her with inquiries about the place until i booked it and during my friend, Liliana's stay. This is what Lily had to say about her stay at Melanie' apartment:
" My stay at Melanie's place was great. The apartment was perfect for my boyfriend and I. The location was also very convenient it was around numerous shops and the metro was about a block from her apartment. We have everything we needed we were even able to cook. I would highly recommend her place and not to mention she's a sweetheart and very helpful."
Thank you Melanie from all of us for making this whole experience pain-free and great. I will definitely keep in touch for future bookings for myself and other friends. :)
Great location. Beautiful apartment. Lovely host. I had a wonderful time staying at Harlem Diggs.
Very good opportunity: the subway is 5min away, the neighborhood is nice and safe, the flat is clean and well furnished, the host is cool and helpful. I warmly recommend this place.
Melanie is the best host you can ever imagine. The apartment looks even better than in the pictures, the energy is great and everything is nearby. We didn't mind that it's a basement apartment. We spent a whole month at Melanie's place and I can only find compliments for our host and aparment. In time when Sandy hit she provided us with a heater and extra warm & soft blankets. Melanie is one of the most warm and sweet persons we met during our stay in New York City. Harlem is also one of our favourite neighbourhoods in Manhattan and we would love to come back next time. Thank you so much Melanie, we love you :) Tina & Mike
