The space

My " home" is a fully furnished penthouse consisted of one bedroom with a double bed, a night table with a lamp and a closet .

In the living room there is a sofa -which opens up and suits as a bed- a coffee table, a tv, , a bookcase , a/c, and a fully equipped kitchen(microwave, pots and pans, all sort of kitchenware,a toaster, tea kettle, kitchen table and chairsetc) plus a bathroom (a build in shower,a washing machine).

* The washine machine is available for use for stays longer than 6 days at no extra charge and ther' s no dryer but you can hang the clothes on the terrace.

The home terrace is spacious and fits a set of terrace table and chairs for 4 people to enjoy their meal .

Since location is very important , it worth mentioning that our " Home" is located in the heart of the historic center of Thessaloniki within a 5 minute walk from the ancient market(agora), a block away from the Church of St Demetrius, and 10 minutes walk from the main square(platia Aristotelous) and a 15 minute uphill walk from the old city and the castle.

You can find yourself downtown , in the shopping area,at the seafront, at the port ,at the museums, in the action of all happenings including nightlife by walking within minutes(from 10 to 20 depending on your destination).

The apt is found in a real neighborhood , very central with many shops and supermarkets nearby. It is on the 6th floor and there is no elevator.

As for entertainment , you can choose from either dining by the seafront or in Ladadika or catching up to the latest films at the movies theaters in the center or simply lay back and watch the sunset at the gulf of Thermaikos while zipping your favorite coffee.

The night is always young in Thessaloniki, so, make sure you hop on one of the sailing bar boats to have a view of Thessaloniki by night before you move on to other adventures.

The apt has all home conforts, and can accomodate up to 3 people. The rooms have wooden floors and the rest of the apt has tiles.

In front of the apt building , there is a bus stop with 3 bus lines taking to the center or the railway station directly.
All sort of shops , super markets , mini markets, breakfast places, butcheries, pastry shops are available just steps away.

*The apt is very bright, the sun always shines in the living room, it is airy and cheerful, just like the host! :)

You can get to the apt from the airport either by bus-need to take 2- or by taxi (much faster and not that expensive either , it is approximately 20 euros something).

*Pick ups can be arranged, if needed. The train station is much closer and you only need one bus No. 23 to get to the apt.

The castle, the monastery Vlatadon, the University town are all located nearby and can be reached on foot or if you feel lazy ,by taxi for only the minimum charge 3.50 euros.

And do not hesitate to make any inquiries that will make your stay a pleasant one!!!!

Interaction with guests

I always keep in touch with my guests from day one.I am available to answer all their questions and make thei arrival to Thessaloniki an easy one. However, since I do not live in Thessaloniki, occasionally I amay not be available to welcome them personally but there is a good friend who will certainly make your welcome the warmest ever.

The neighborhood

The neighborhood is very lively; there are many shops , super markets , bakeries, meat and fish also fruit and vegetable markets. There are many restaurants-some have daily cooked dishes, others just fish and meat and many snack bars and coffee shops. The best outdoor cafe is the one situated 2 blocks down where one can enjoy coffee by admiring the view of the ancient agora. There are many archaeological sites nearby; one is the ancient agora, then next to the apt building is Alatza Imaret and the old town is just a walk uphill.

Getting around

There is a bus stop right in front of the apt building (buses 15 takes you to the center and 23 goes through the center all the way to the train station) going to the city and one block down on Agiou Dimitriou taking bringing you from the city.

Other things to note

As mentioned in the description, the apt is on the 6th floor and there is no elevator. If you like a daily work out, then my place offers you plenty of that!!!

This flat is in a perfect location, close to everything and public transportation. You can walk to just about anywhere too! The neighbourhood is safe and fully equipped with markets. The flat has everything you need for a long stay! Cathy is a great host and provides a very cozy flat (lovely decorated) and all the help in finding everything you need. I would recommend it for a perfect stay in Thessaloniki.

When I arrived in Thessaloniki, Cathy was there to show me the apartment and to explain to me all the important things that you need to know when you come to a new place. There was also a lot of interesting material such as maps, books and touristic informations about the city and the hole area in the flat. In all my stay of 6 weeks I felt always welcome to ask any question. Everything was great and warm-hearted.

Cathy is a very good host as she gives instructions on how to get to the flat and then welcomes you with Greek coffee and biscuits (plus leaves you with some tasty snacks)! Cathy's flat is a lovely space and has been nicely decorated throughout. Cathy provides a dongle for the Internet but although this didn't work with our tablets there are plenty of local internet cafés (as well as cafés that give you a free password). Visitors should note that the flat is on the 6th floor and there are a lot stairs and no lift - this can be tiring work but it kept us fit and helped us work off all the spanakopita! Cathy's flat is also in a very good location. Kassandrou Street can be little noisy but otherwise is an excellent spot for getting into the city centre or up into the Ano Poli. Kassandrou Street also has plenty of nearby supermarkets, great bakeries, greengrocers and lots of affordable and excellent places to eat (much better than the centre of the city). All in all, a good place to stay. Thanks Cathy!
