Welcome to the Garden bedroom of Grandiflora Wine Garden! We are a vegetarian natural wine bar and inn located in the heart of Chelsea. Your spacious room overlooks the patio and vegetable garden with a view of the sunset and an intriguing view of the nearby shipyard. In your TV-free room you will have your own full bathroom (with a tub), as well as a desk for laptop work and two comfortable chairs for lounging and enjoying a glass of wine!

The space
This 100+ year old house is in a unique time of transition in a quickly changing neighborhood! Be aware that since this is an old house, there are quite a lot of quirks and imperfections. Although we DO sanitize and clean between guests, old caulk lines, door and floor repairs, and imperfect plaster jobs over the years make our space appear less than perfect.

We are a recent establishment with a focus on natural and low intervention wines, healthy vegetarian dining in a homey setting, and sustainable gardening focusing on edible and medicinal plants. The owners (Erin, Jason, and Kenny) have been converting the house themselves, so there is a lot of unique character to the building and the experience you will have here.

If this sounds like your kind of place, come and join us for a meal and some wine! You are welcome to dine in your room. We will bring food and drinks up to you. You can also come and enjoy a meal in our restaurant space downstairs or in the garden!

It is important to realize that we are a fully operating restaurant in a bustling neighborhood, so please read the following closely:

We are open until 9 PM several nights of the week, so you will hear noise from the restaurant until around 11 PM. Our updated hours are on our website and social media.

The yellow house is on a small street along which large trucks and busy workers travel from the shipyard starting around 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM Monday through Friday. They can be loud. There is also a bar that is located right across the street that is open until 2 AM and has an outdoor seating and play area. Torch Bistro is a popular place to get drinks and dinner, but it does mean that you may hear people and music until late at night from your bedroom. The last source of noise is a dog daycare that is located across the corner. During the day the dogs will bark periodically, but at night the park is closed. In an effort to mitigate issues with noise, we do provide a noise machine with several options.

The Chelsea neighborhood is a small industrial district that has become a much loved attraction for neighbors and tourists! In this small locality there are two breweries: Smartmouth and Benchtop, a local bakery and pizzeria: The Bakehouse at Chelsea, a renowned craft beer bar: The Birch, and a neighborhood bar with outdoor games: Torch. The house is two blocks from an active shipyard where you can observe ships that are currently being worked on. If you enjoy walking, running, or biking, we are located right by the Elizabeth River Trail!

One of us will be available via the Airbnb app, so you can message if you need anything! Our facilities manager, Akin, lives on the third floor, so he is on site and on call from 9 am until 10 pm.
