We had a nice stay at Kathy’s comfortable and convenient apartment. We found her place to be well equipped with everything we needed, and with enough room for three of us. Keep in mind that this is a charming walk-up apartment in close to original condition. Kathy greeted us with a Greek coffee and gave us a thorough tour of her place; as well she was helpful in directing us to local places and recommending a fantastic authentic restaurant! Kathy’s place has a large balcony for sitting outside in the evenings, but also has a large and efficient air conditioner- necessary for Thessaloniki in the summer! It is in a good location-easy to walk down the hill to downtown as well as up to the upper older city. The neighborhood and building felt safe and secure. Kathy is a very friendly host and is sure to give you a warm welcome!
Nice appartment with beautiful terrace, very good position. Cathy is kind and very helpfull. Pay attention to the sixth floor without lift.
Appartamento carino con bella terrazza, posizione ottima. Cathy è gentile e molto disponibile. Attenzione al sesto piano senza ascensore.
Cathy's apartment in the heart of Thessaloniki was a great place for the two of us to stay 4 nights and explore all the the city has to offer. The location is fantastic - just 10 mins walk from the city centre, the old neighbourhood of Ano Poli and the bars and restaurants of Ladadika and surrounds. Cathy gave great advice and provided excellent notes on local eateries which we followed up on and loved. There is nothing like the recommendations of a local and Cathy has great local knowledge. Although we didn't get to meet Cathy she was excellent at communicating and arranged for her friends to meet us an give/collect the keys. Thanks for a great stay Cathy.
I had a fantastic time in Thessaloniki and it all started with Cathy. She was so helpful and nice on the phone, letting me know the best places I could go for food and how I could get to the apartment. When I was due to land there was a taxi strike, she helped me with the best way to get to the apartment and explained the route fully. The apartment was fantastic and in a very nice area very close to all the action. As I was there for the film festival, I didn't get as much time as I would have liked to explore, but I hope to go back one day and I would certainly stay at Cathy's apartment in the future!
Cathy greeted us at the apartment with Greek coffee and bougastas (Greek pastry), and right away we fell in love with the place. So lovely, intimate and refreshing was the apartment. We really felt at home in Thessaloniki while we stayed there. Cathy was always a phone call away if ever we needed anything, and we had a wonderful vacation! Everything was a walk away, and we didn't have to use public transportation or cabs. Our trip to Thessaloniki has been by far, one of the best vacations yet!
Cathy was (is!) a very kind and helpful host. She spent over an hour at our first meeting helping get me oriented to the apartment, the neighborhood, and the city (bus lines, markets, etc). Our stay was, as a result, a good deal more organized and successful than it might otherwise have been. She was so very personable, and even met us for coffee one day to check on us and make some further suggestions for our time in the area.
The apartment is in a very real neighborhood - not touristy at all - but close (easy walking distance) to the major parks and markets right above the center of town. The neighborhood has an abundance of little markets, bakeries, etc, and the many cafes within a few blocks are virtually endless. It is a few minutes walk from the university and/or the tourist zone, which seems an ideal location and suited us quite well.
Having all the comforts of home, you will be very comfortable in her apartment. Do not mistake it for a 5-star hotel -- and that is a very good thing. You will climb the stairs, have real privacy, a personal balcony, a well appointed kitchen of your own ... it is safe, comfortable, and very much a small home away from home in an amazing city.
If real Thessaloniki is your destination, then you will be hard pressed to find a nicer host and better stay!
Cathy, like everyone I met in Thessaloniki, is very generous and outgoing. She ensured that we had everything we needed for our first Greece adventure, including personalized notes on activities and restaurants. Cathy even went out of her way to provide brochures from the Tourist office on activities we were interested in.
Cathy's apartment is ideal for 3 people, with a very large balcony to enjoy breakfast or some evening beverages. It is located very conveniently to bars, restaurants, old town, and the waterfront. Check-in and check-out went very smoothly. Cathy made traveling to a new country incredibly enjoyable. I cannot wait to return and stay again. Thanks Cathy!
Hi everyone! I had a great experience with Cathy and her appartment in Thessaloniki. She is very kind and willing to help! Since the beginning, contact through email was fluid and quick, and she gave me all the information I needed to get in the appartment and other interesting places in the city. I went to Thessaloniki for an international meeting; the location of the appartment is very convenient because it is at the city center, so I just had 15 minutes walking to the Convention Center "Helexpo".
The appartment looks like in the pics. It was very clean and tidy when I entered; the decoration is nice and it is very roomy. Next to the living room there is a balcony, so this part of the house is very bright and sunny. It was plenty of kitchen utilities and other house stuff that you need to feel like at home. The only drawback I may have is that the building has a lot of stairs (and no elevator) and it is hard to go up and down few times a day if you are carrying heavy or bulky stuff.
Cathy was attentive to my needs and she tried to solve them all. I could meet her and confirm the very good impressions I got from her through email. After my stay, she contacted me few times to check on everything was going ok. I think she is a great host and made me feel I had a real Greek friend on her!! :-)) Thanks a lot, Cathy!! Hope to see you soon in Spain!!
Cathy's home was absolutely wonderful. Although I did not get to meet her, Cathy was helpful the entire way through, including the days we spent there. She made sure to check in with us on multiple occasion as the day to arrive got closer. Her friend Debbie was just marvelous and made our stay in Thessaloniki the greatest. It is not an exaggeration when she says that its in the heart of the city, it truly is.
