There is also a direct bus to the train station 5 minutes walk away ( Note: this is for intercity trains as there is no Christchurch metro train system)
The Neighbourhood is safe - and it is within easy walking distance of a large supermarket, a variety of shops and a good range of eat-in /takeaway restaurants.( asian, steakhouse, greek- more than a dozen to select from)
We provide a cereal breakfast and may be able to provide other meals by negotiation.
We have a small jack-russell/foxy dog who owns the place -once introduced he is friendly, but has to announce all arrivals and departures unless he's sleeping in the sun

Lawrence and his wife provided us with a warm welcome and carried my suitcase upstairs. The room was quiet so we were able to sleep very well and fight our jet lag
Loved our first Airb&b experience in NZ with Lawrence! He was a fabulous host, checking in on us every morning and giving us travel tips for Christchurch area. There are things we would no have known about if he hadn't told us- like Hanmer Springs! Loved staying in the Tree House. Thank you Lawrence!
It was very comfortable. The room was clean and it also has own small cooking space and nice breakfast set. His wife kindly adviced and supported me a lot to decide my traveling plan. I really enjoyed staying there.
From the first contact, Lawrence was very responsive to questions about accommodation, how to get there and, as it happened, instructions on how to access the room while they were away.
The description. of the rom was accurate, it is a pleasant and private place to stay. The bed was comfortable, the shower good.
A pleasure to stay. i felt welcome there.
This is excellent value for money. The room is very spacious and the beds are very comfortable and clean as is the whole place. It is tucked away down a driveway so it is very secluded and quiet. it is a bus ride from the centre and is not within walking distance.
The host Lawrence was very accommodating as I'd been let down elsewhere. He provided useful information on things to do in the area. A stay here is recommended.
Lawrence was very friendly and accommodating. He lent us a coffee percolator which was really great as we don't drink instant coffee and had brought some ground coffee with us. The breakfast tray and milk in the fridge was a lovely touch. The house is about 800m from the bus stop on Blenheim Road which can be a bit tricky if you have lots of luggage. I was concerned about the soft mattresses but ended up sleeping very well. The wifi connection disappeared halfway through our 2nd night there. Great place to stay if you are travelling on a budget but still looking for somewhere where you have your own space.
Lawrence and his wife were really kind and welcomed us in like family. The private room above the garage is so cute and "retro"! So comfortable. They had a whole binder about information, maps, bus routes and advice for activities, even a prepared tray of breakfast food. It was tidy and they had towels for us. They were even so kind to invite us on their family hike the had the next day. Blown away with our experience!
Married with 4 kids scattered over the globe. On the profile picture I'm the "senior" ( lefthand rear). This was one of the few times we were together (Jeanette my wife, two of my sons, one daughter-in-law and my daughter - talking to another son and his wife in England)
I'm an engineer by training, and currently own a small importing/distribution/publishing business
I like dogs, tramping, walking on the beach, reading.
