Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
This is a lighthouse in the Arctic, alone on an island, with no cars, no shops and no pressures. A perfect escape at the edge of the earth. Simple. Comfortable. Ecofriendly. Closer to yourself - away from it all.

The space
There are currently two double rooms for rent in the lighthousekeepers' house. All sleeping rooms have a view to the sea and the Lofoten islands. Comfortable beds of natural materials (Hästens) and one double bed with a Tempur mattress.
(If you wan to book two rooms please find a link to the other room here: https://airbnb.com/h/littleisland-lighthouse-litloy-fyr-yellowroom).

There is a small library with soft chairs and a fire place, a dining room with a long table and the same great view and a kitchen arranged so you can prepare all your meals as you want. Two small and separate bathrooms.

The lighthouse properties are the only houses on this island, which in the old days was a fishing center with many families. Nowadays Elena, the owner of the lighthouse, is the only person living on this island. She will come and pick you up with her own safe RIB boat.

We have a so called off-grid electricity network which means we produce our own electricity of solar panels and a diesel generator as a back up. We also gather rainwater for our water consumption.

Guest access
All first floor of the lighthouse keepers' house is accessible to guests. Then of course the whole island is there for walks and activities. The lighthouse tower itself is currently under renovation, but can be visited.
There is a well equipped kitchen at the first floor where guests can prepare their meals. There is a guest fridge and food shelf, a coffee grinder, a French press and various tea pots.

Other things to note
This is a place in the Arctic north with wonderful lights and impressive nature. It is a perfect place to take deep breaths. Since it takes some time to get here and settle in, we go for a minimum of three nights stay.

It is a more ecological way of travel to stay longer in one place. Since Litløy fyr is an ecologically certified travel destination, we keep a three nights minimum. You get reduced price if you stay for a week or longer.

As we produce our own energy and heat the houses with wood burners, we recommend our guests to bring warm wool clothes and some indoor shoes.

We suggest you stay in contact with us prior to your arrival, in order to make appointments for pick up time with the boat. Price for the boat transport is 250 NOK per person, one way. This can best be paid directly upon your visit.

If the sea is too rough, meaning if there is a real storm, we cannot travel at sea. This means that your travel to or from the island will have to be postponed. In such a case we can help you find an alternative accommodation. This rarely ever happens summertime, but might happen during winter, depending on the years. It can therefore be good to have some alternative back up plans when visiting Littleisland Lighthouse.

It takes a good hour to walk around the island. But you can also walk for longer or shorter. There are stone age pits to visit, foundations of old houses in the former fishing village, a small cave and more. A couple of white tailed eagles are nesting on the island and the bird life is quite rich. If you have been kayaking before we have a couple of kayaks to paddle to the small islands around or to the uninhabited neighboring island as well. If you bring your fishing rod, it is possible to fish from the island and the floating quay.

I am privileged to live on a lighthouse island in the Arctic Norway. A beautiful and exciting place. Today I'm the only inhabitant on this island, but all the guests coming keep me company!
During your stay
Elena, the lighthouse owner, is living on the attic of the lighthouse keepers' house and will be around to help out. She will bake bread or scones so you have for your breakfast and provide you with mint tea from the garden. She can provide fish filets from the local fisherman, for a small fee. Then of course she is ready to tell you about island life.
