The house is a boarding house, shabby-chic that is conveniently located near the Mission, Excelsior, and Glen Park districts—all within walking distance. It is very close to transportation, freeways and major thoroughfares. Savor the ethnic vibrancy of this off the beaten path of San Francisco.
Walk 1.5 blocks to buy Asian fruits and vegetables from the corner Asian Market. Across the freeway, walk to Farmer’s Market on weekends. Take 14 Mission bus towards Daly City where you will find Filipino, Chinese, Latin, German restaurants and a hamburger joint in the same neighborhood.
Venture further away from the house and walk 2 blocks to take 14 Mission, a bus line that travels from one end of the City that borders Daly City to Embarcadero which is the heart of downtown San Francisco. Take the adventurous ride on this famous bus line and visit various S.F. districts en route. Or, walk four blocks to Glen Park Bart station and take the Bart lines that travel to SF International airport and within San Francisco as well as various Bay Area cities, locations and destinations.

I stayed over Maria's room for a week and you get just about what you pay for, a simple private room in a house with bathrooms and kitchen. The bathrooms were kept clean and the bed was clean aswell, which I think are the two main things you look for while staying in a place, although even with that it could be a little bit cleaner in other areas.
It were the rainy days when I stayed and the room has no heating so it got very (very) chilly.
Also you barely meet/notice the other guests, so it gets to be very quiet.
It is located near two different bus line stops and relatively near to a BART station, which allows really good mobility inside San Francisco and out to the East Bay.
I did not got to meet Maria personally but she was very helpful and agreeable.
Nice room for a good price. In a quiet neighborhood so sound is never an issue. I would stay here again without thinking twice about it.
A well located house near Glen Park and its BART, about 10 minutes walking. The BART can easily get you to south Bay or the city center. It is a student house, very good guys and I had no problems to share the bathroom. The room was a bit cold but with a good single bed, desk a sun light. It was a good value for money stay in SF
I stayed two months in this house, and it wasn't that bad but there are some things to ameliorate like the cleanliness .Sometimes the bathroom and toilet was dirty and I had to clean it like 3 times whereas somebody is paid to do it. Second, If you are young and want to socialize with other young people at dinner time , they will tell you that you can't stay and talk in the kitchen and it will be (email hidden) because you made "too much" noise when you are talking, whereas you paid 839 dollars for a room+kitchen .... So are we supposed to take our dish and go eat in our room ? I dont recommend this house for dynamic, social persons...because there are some grumpy persons. However, I made good friends !!!! This comment is not done with bad intentions , I'm just telling the truth .
Naomi was a disappointment. She did not follow house rules and was disrespectful to me and my other airbnb guests and long term tenants who reside in our home. She made friends with several other airbn guests, and they formed a cliquey group that would cook, eat and hang out in the kitchen for several hours even past midnight which prevented other guests and myself from cooking and eating in the kitchen. I reminded them several times that their behaviour was disrespectful and discourteous to my other airbnb guests and long term tenants.
As far as cleanliness, she made the bathroom dirty with her leaving dirty underwear, tufts of hair in the tub and personal hygiene items littering the bathroom. As she mentioned, I have a person who cleans 3x a week, however, upkeep and maintenance of the house is a collective effort. I left plenty of cleaning products for her to clean up after herself. She did not do her part.
Towards the end, she became hostile, and I felt uncomfortable with her in my house. I was glad when she left.
This house was the perfect place to come when moving to San Francisco. I met amazing people and had an all around phenomenal time. Granted, extreme privacy is not always an option when living inexpensively so I decided to move on and get a place of my own; however, I couldn't have asked for a better living situation for moving out here and knowing abosultely nobody. It's a great transitional spot to crash and also good for you travelers on a budget.
The house is full of culture and I learned more about my housemate's cultures (Japan, France, Canada, Philippines, every part of the U.S.) than I ever would have by staying in a traditional hotel. It was such a blast and there was never a dull moment.
Maria is so kind and does a lot to continuously improve the house. She is very conscientious when it comes to how the residents and tenants feel, always trying to encourage community responsibility and respect. There were many get togethers with food provided by Maria that got everyone talking and socializing, always a grand 'ol time.
One airbnb-er tip I would definitely give is have a plan and book your bed in advance (1-2 weeks) and communicate that plan to Maria. Because of the awesome price of the beds they go fast, and since you might be in a bind if your bed is given to someone else, cover your bases! Obviously communication with Maria helps a lot but she of course has to look out for her best interest and fill the rooms.
This was a magnificent stepping stone in the journey of my life and I couldn't speak more highly!! 5 stars.
