About this listing
Custom built holiday home perched on Paku Hill with incomparable views of the Pacific Ocean, coastline and offshore islands. Spacious, protected deck to watch moonrises and sunsets. Trail from the house leads to long, sandy Ocean Beach - ideal for swimmining, snorkling along the reef, surfing when the conditions are right, an early morning jog and basking in the sun. Enjoy a hot outside shower with a 180 degree view. Walk along the estuary one kilometer to the town of Tairua with shops and services. Or closer to the warf and ferry, dive shop, charter fishing and our favorite restaurant, "Old Mill." House is open and airy with local wood floors, cabinets and detailing, open beam ceilings, modern kitchen, carpeted bedrooms, a fireplace for chill nights, & a deck large enough to spend most your time. The master suite takes the entire upstairs wih views all around. Very quiet, romantic & peaceful setting. Tairua, on the Coromandel Peninsula has a Maritime climate with year round activities. Excellent fishing and diving and we enjoy our own catches of crayfish (lobster) and puau (abalone) and snapper often. Kayak in the estuary or in the sea to nearby Motuhoa Island. Most days we find we do not need nor want to drive anywhere. Besides all the ocean activities there are local walks, biking or take the 10 minute ferry ride to Pauanui. There are easy drives to a multitude of unique & beautiful beaches and to a host of other activities such as exploring the old goldmines in the Broken Hills, wine tasting in Mercury Bay, thermal bathing at low tide at Hot Water Beach or a visit to the giant Kauri trees. Our property manager, Keryn, lives around the corner and has a fabulous Hawaiian massage center at her place.
