About This Listing
Located in the center of Georgetown, this loft has old world charm and is the perfect place to launch your adventures into DC.
Brand new queen size loft bed that was custom made. Note, I used to have an old one from Ikea that was shaky. . . this is rock solid.
Beautiful two story loft, where the kitchen and living quarters is on the first floor and beautifully redone bath is on the second floor, is ideally located on M and 31st streets in the heart of Georgetown.
This is the perfect place for someone or a couple who want to stay, shop and eat all within walking distance. There's a new kitchen, and a new bathroom with classic fixtures and traditional flaire.
• Easily accommodates two to three people.
• There's a large Sony (website hidden) TV installed
• Brand new custom built Queen size bed loft (past reviews talked about my old bed that was a little shaky -- this is completely new -- thick welded steel that is steadfast :)
• Fast WiFi, Dyson fans, and AC and central heat
• Very comfortable World Market couch, and old world charm--like many of the buildings on M Street, this one was built in 1880's!
The apartment is located above Bodega, a popular spanish tapas restaurant--so although sometimes a little noisy, the location is incredible! When you come out the apartment, you are on Georgetown's historic M Street and in the middle of all the action. Seriously, Starbucks is 5 feet away from the apartment :) And not only are you located in the prime area of M Street, but you also are two blocks away from the Potomac River and the C & O Canal -- where you can take wonderful walks, jogs and bike rides every morning and evening. There is absolutely no better location for a person or persons traveling who want to really explore Washington DC -- great restaurants (Cafe La Ruche, Mie n Yu, Rugby), bars (Old Glory, L2), shopping (Barney Co-op, Nike Town, Jack Spade), and more.
The entire apartment.
Interaction with Guests
I'll generally meet guests at the loft or I'll leave keys in a safe place. And of course, I'm available to answer any questions or give any local traveling advice.
Super convenient. . . there is the circulator bus that costs $1 right outside of the apartment. You have a great 10 min walk into Downtown DC and of course you're located in the heart of Georgetown. Doesn't get too much better as a starting point.
Other Things to Note
It's an old building. . . built in the 1850's. I personally love the place and a lot of guests have too. . . feel free to read through the reviews. People who are a bit adventurous and want something in the heart of the city, have found my loft a great fit.
Fireplace can not be used
That's about it. . . just have fun, enjoy the place, and make sure you do a lot of walking around beautiful Georgetown!
Nice large living space with fold down Room & Board couch, Google Sony TV, and candlelit fireplace
The location is nice. Otherwise, I had a difficult experience. I arrived on a week when it was 90 degrees outside. Zak told me the air conditioning was not working. The apartment has no ventilation, and the door that you can open actually opens to the noisy patio of the restaurant below. Sleeping conditions were oppressive with the heat. The second day there were two leaks in the ceiling due to rain, and the water leaked onto my belongings.
I notified Zak of the leak and received no response to this date. I left after 2 nights, I was scheduled to stay for 5. The photos do not match the actual apartment.
Location, location, location!!! Right in the heart of M Street with all the shopping and night life. Easy to hop the Circulator bus over to Rosslyn metro station. Taxi cabs/Uber also plentiful. We slept great on the lofted bed. We never heard any noise from the restaurant below the apartment and we got our morning coffee from Starbucks just downstairs. This is definitely a bare bones "man cave" but had hair dryer, iron and ironing board. If you are looking for a place to sleep, shower and get back out to tour DC, this is it. Also, Zak was very prompt to meet us when we arrived and also quickly responded to our questions. Thanks!
The neighborhood was killer for architecture, walkability, and eateries. As a female, I felt more than comfortable walking home late at night. The space is unconventional because it's a neat old building with this little apartment carved out, so the bathroom is oddly upstairs and there's no view of the street (windows open to odd roof crevices and stuff). Zak was a stellar host and highly recommended.
Zak is a great host, easy going and quite helpful. The apartment is excellently located. Thank you!
Overall the experience was OK. The location is great, but noisy at night due to a restaurant kitchen. The accuracy was not what I expected and apartment was definately not cleaned. Garbage in garbage can , leftovers in fridge, dirty dishes in diswasher, ect. Also there was a bad leaking faucet in bathroom sink. The photos make the apartment look clean and uncluttered but the opposite is what I experienced. The loft bed is comfortable and slept well. If you don't mind the frat house environment, again location is great.
I had a fantastic experience at Zaks place! It was close to everything and super comfy. It's a lovely walk to the Lincoln Memorial along the river. There are amazing restaurants nearby and coffee right next door. Zak was very helpful and responsive whenever I needed something.
