I extended my ATL work trip through the weekend, and quickly found this cute, quiet spot. This is the perfect location for a neighborhood wanderer. A block from a hidden gem, The Grocery on Home music venue, and only a few more from beautiful Grant Park (Zoo and Cyclorama). I took brisk morning jog around the park, a drop in class at Nirvana Yoga, and a bite to eat at Grant Park Coffee!
Friends in the city found me easily, and it's right off the highway and minutes to downtown Atlanta, Virginia Highland, and Little Five Points by car ($10-$15 Lyft/Uber if you need a ride).
The host is friendly and down to earth, along with her two adorable baby pumas (she insists they're house cats, though!). She even joined me to listen to live music at The Grocery.
I'm so glad that I had a chance to meet and stay with Virginia! Although my stay was short, she was a wonderful host and I really enjoyed my time in ATL. It's a very cozy house in a safe neighborhood. I loved having my own bedroom and bathroom! Her two cats are also very adorable and two of the prettiest cats I've ever seen! I would highly recommend staying with Virginia!
Virginia was a great host though I didn't see too much of her. I had to change my travel plans during my stay & Virginia was very flexible & accommodating. Location is great, only a short drive to all the local attractions.
Virginia was very friendly, organised & helpful. Place was very neat & tidy. Was a nice change to stay at a place without a TV. The Cats were funny & entertaining, vey homey pleasant feel to her place.
This was my first experience with airbnb and it was a success! After attending a long day of labs and lectures in downtown, it was nice to come home to a comfortable bed in a cozy room. Virginia is a genuine and thoughtful person and I enjoyed spending time with her. Her handsome gray cats were welcome company when I was the only one home. Grant park is a beautiful neighborhood, full of restored old homes and has a large park that I wish I'd had time to explore. It was a very convenient drive from downtown and I felt safe parking my car on the street.
I went to Atlanta, Georgia to review two possible Schools of Law. I stayed with Virginia during my stay. I have midterms this week and was exhausted from the drive and the first tour. I have a host of medical conditions which drain me as well. I say all this to indicate my standards are high because they have to be.
Virginia was a perfect host. The room was close to the front door, so there was not a lot of trasping through her home with my various books & overnight bags. She offered me some time to just relax and talk. She was very hospitable and we spoke briefly about our current studies. Virginia suggested a wonderful restaurant for me to eat at that night based on my needs. The house was wonderfully quiet and I was able to get some work done before falling asleep (I have to admit, I wasn't able to keep my eyes open that long.) once I returned from her suggestion.
I rose early in the morning and finished up some school work. Watched a movie on my Kindle and then headed out to conquer the world of Law. Okay, just the second school I was there to visit, but still - it was a good trip.
She has a pair of sweet and quiet cats. They sniffed my stuff and the female loved on me, but other than that - I was left alone by them. If you're not a cat person, I don't believe they will bother you enough to be of concern. I personally enjoy cats and would not have minded more interaction.
The bed itself was firmer than I am used to, but that turned out to be a good thing. When my various aches woke me up, as they always do, in the middle of the night - I found I was able to roll over very easily and go back to sleep. I normally have trouble with doing that in my own home and usually have to get up and stretch a bit to get some relief.
I would not have changed one thing about the experience. It was far better than any hotel and best part was, I could afford it. Being a single mom and full time student, I don't have a lot of extra for luxuries like visiting grad schools. I have no reservations in recommending her to someone visiting the Atlanta area.
This place was adorable and she was such a great host. I would highly recommend that you stay in this spot. The bed was comfy and it was such a peaceful beautiful place. Its so close to the city but yet away from the traffic so parking is EASY.
I am a laid back girl from Coastal Georgia living in the big city. I am a full-time grad student pursing my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy. I love Georgia Tech, the Atlanta Braves, dinner parties, and coffee dates!
