About This Listing
We're in a location that offers the look and feel of "suburbia", yet we are a short drive to Downtown Baltimore and less than an hour from Washington, DC. Let us be your home away from home, as you visit the area! Plus we are 10 minutes from BWI!
If there are 3 or 4 in your party, please read the last paragraph carefully, before proceeding! There is NO charge for a 4th person! But you'll have to contact me, to have that reflected in your nightly rate.
Whether you are visiting the area for business, a vacation, a wedding or a graduation, please consider making this your "home away from home" for a few days.
This location offers the perfect combination of suburban quiet and extreme convenience. We are in Linthicum, Maryland, a suburb of Baltimore. We are just 10 minutes from BWI-Thurgood Marshall Airport and only 15 minutes from Downtown Baltimore City--including both stadiums and the Convention Center. We are also only 15 minutes away from the Maryland Live Casino and the brand new Horseshoe Casino is 15 minutes in the other direction. We are within walking distance from the light rail, which not only connects you to BWI Airport, but can also get you into the city. **If you plan to walk here from the light rail, PLEASE ASK ME ABOUT THE SHORT CUT! If you are driving, you can easily access I-95 and all of the other major highways in the area.
Both rooms have been recently upgraded! In our primary guestroom, we offer a comfy queen sized bed with a pillow-topped mattress, a 37" flat-screen tv (equipped with cable), a dvd player (with a collection of videos), a small closet and a clock radio with cd player and a jack for mp3 players. There are power strips on either side of the bed, so you have lots of plugs available for your chargers, laptops, etc. There is a folding rack for your luggage.
You will be sharing a full bathroom on the second floor. Fresh linens, will of course be provided. You will have access to a fully-equipped gourmet kitchen, living room and half bath on the first floor. You'll have free wi-fi and if you need a computer or printer, just ask. Ditto for laundry facilities.
You'll be sharing the house with 50-something couple and 2 cats. The cats are friendly, but are kept out of your room--unless you let them in ;-) You don't have to be a cat lover; but if you are allergic or afraid of them or mind an occasional late night / early morning meow outside your bedroom door, then this won't be a good fit!
As far as food, you have lots of options. A continental breakfast comes as part of the deal. That includes a large selection of coffees and teas. And if you happen to be here on Sunday morning, you might be invited to play "guinea pig" for some new breakfast casserole or omelette recipe. I am an excellent cook, if I do say so myself :-) There are 3 fast food places in walking distance. A very large selection of full service restaurants is but a short drive away. We'll be happy to point you in the right direction, for whatever you're seeking.
In the spring, summer and fall, you may chose to spend some time relaxing in our big backyard. There's a stone patio with lawn chairs, surrounded by flowers and trees.
THE FOLLOWING IS RELAVANT ONLY TO PARTIES OF 3 or 4 GUESTS!
We've just recently completed a MAJOR renovation of the 2nd guest room, thus the slight increase in price. The rate for the second room is a flat $40 a night--whether there are 1 or 2 people staying in there. This website is not set-up to automatically calculate that the 4th person is FREE. If you have 4 in your party, please write to me, so that I can give you a link for the proper rate of $100 a night--not the $140, that will show up, when you plug in that there will be 4 people. Sorry for the confusion!! Please ask if you have questions :-) While still not as nice as the primary guest room, we have certainly made it a closer comparison! The room has a comfortable full-sized futon, a flat screen tv (with cable), a clock radio and desk, which can include the use of a computer/printer upon request. Anyone staying in that room will have the same promise of clean linen, assorted travel sized toiletries and a good breakfast. But, we fondly call it the "cats' room", because the electronic, self-washing litter box is in there. We have the cats use an alternate box during your stay--so that you can keep your door closed, but the regular box, is too cumbersome to move for just a night or two. In that it is self-cleaning and remains covered, when the room is in use, SMELL IS NOT A PROBLEM! The room also serves as the laundry room, but thanks to an additional screen and room re-arrangement, the room is far more attractive and looks much more like a traditional bedroom. Soooo, if your third/fourth guest(s) is okay with the above-mentioned description, then by all means shoot me an email to discuss your visit!
Guests have access to their room, both bathrooms, the living room, the kitchen, the backyard and (usually) the driveway, If there are more than 2 guests, they will also have access to the second spare room. The other parts of the house are off limits--unless discussed in advance. The top of the toilet (in the master bath) is available for toiletries that you want to leave in the bathroom. Hooks for towels are available in the bathroom as well as your room (both bedrooms have hooks).
Interaction with Guests
Guest interaction varies greatly with us. Never feel that you HAVE to spend time with us--we won't be offended if you are mostly in your room or out of the house. However, if we're home and you want to chat that's just fine! We've had some wonderful conversations with some of our guests--but it's never forced--sometimes it just clicks!
I love that our neighborhood is usually quiet, despite being 20 minutes away from the heart of Baltimore City.
We are in an extremely convenient location! As long as you don't mind some walking, it's feasible to get around from the Amtrak station or BWI Airport using only public transportation. We are (kinda) on a bus line, but there's a rather steep hill to get to/from the house. We are also short walk to Baltimore's light rail system. Kenneth owns a cab, and he can usually offer our guests discounted fares, especially with advance notice. And if you are driving, we're close to all the major highways in the area.
Other Things to Note
The ideal bookings for us come a few weeks to a month in advance. But we can usually accept reservations several months in advance and we've frequently accommodated last minute requests. Bottom line, it never hurts to ask! I'm online quite frequently and can usually give you a quick response.
To reiterate, if you need the second bedroom, it is a flat $40 a night--whether 1 or 2 people are staying there. Please write and ask, if you need clarification. Airbnb won't calculate the extra fee manually, I have to do it manually--but only if there will be 3 or 4 guests.
We'll need to see your ID upon arrival.
There is no smoking (of anything)! Please treat our home as you would your own :-). Clean up after yourself and be mindful of the noise level after 10 p.m. We have 2 cats. You won't need to do a thing for them, but they are NOT allowed to go outside!
Guests are not allowed to bring other people to the house at any time unless granted permission from the (website hidden) is fine, but we need to discuss it in advance--unless you are just warming something in the microwave.
From the moment we walked into the door until we left to the airport, we felt like we were Royalty. The room, the bed, the TELEVISION with a million channels on it, and the super fast internet made our stay amazing.
We had an early flight out that morning, and told Nannette that she didn't need to fuss over us, but she was up before we were and had breakfast waiting for us when we came downstairs.
When in Baltimore, book this Airbnb, you won't be disappointed!
Such a fantastic experience! Great host, location, and accommodations. I was provided with everything I may need from coffee and breakfast to toiletries and a robe. Comfortable bed and great night's sleep.
This was my first trip to Maryland, as well as my first Airbnb experience, and I couldn't have asked for better hosts! Both Nannette and Kenneth were very kind and hospitable. I had everything I needed to make my stay comfortable - including a delicious breakfast! Only 10 minutes from BWI. I hope I get the chance to stay here again.
Can't say enough good things! House is so convenient to airport and light rail, yet on a quiet street surrounded by trees. Bed is supportive-firm with a soft top easy on shoulders. Nannette and Kenneth are wonderful hosts. She really makes it better than a hotel! Slippers and robes, continental breakfast, tea and coffee anytime. I will plan to return my next time in town.
Another great/peaceful stay. Looking forward to the next. Thanks
Nannette greeted me at the door on the evening of my arrival, promptly giving me a tour of the house. There was a menu of choices for breakfast the next morning
There were 2 cats which I barely knew were there during my stay. A large screen tv and videos were available;however,I found reading material of interest in the room which was small but comfortable . The room was as described and as pictured.
I had a quick breakfast of French toast with coffee in the morning before leaving .
The house sits on a hill, allowing for a great view of the rising sun.
I enjoyed my stay and would stay again if in the area.

About the Host, Nannette
We are an African-American couple in our mid-fifties. We're non-smokers and light drinkers. We are generally laid back. We both have pretty busy schedules--which is why for time being, we're generally not accepting reservations of more than 3 or 4 days at a time. But that's not a hard and fast rule, especially if you've stayed with us before; so feel free to check to see if an exception might be made. If you need some suggestions on what to do and/or where to go, while you're in the Baltimore area--you've got it! However, if you already have an agenda and just need a clean, quiet and safe place to lay your head--you've got that too!
Please note that my "kids" are 2 cats. They are friendly and playful--if you choose to engage. But if you choose to keep your distance, no problem. One of them does "cry" a little bit late at night or early in the morning--just cuz he doesn't like to be kicked out of the master bedroom. If it happens, it's only for a few minutes. I don't think it's a big deal, but if you are a very light sleeper and/or don't like cats--then this would be a bad choice for you.
Its your typical fast-food menu. They are open very late on the weekends and within walking distance from the house. They have drive-thru and walk-up service, with a few outdoor tables.Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard MD 21225
You can walk to the light rail station from the house. It allows you to connect to BWI Airport and points farther south, as well as Baltimore City and points farther north.
Its within walking distance. They have wifi and of course, coffee, donuts, muffins, etc.Camp Meade Road Linthicum MD 21090
They have good Chinese and (some) Thai food, including low fat selections. You can walk or they will deliver :-)North Camp Meade Road Linthicum Hts MD 21090
Nursery Road is a 3 minute drive (maybe a 20 minute walk) from the house and offers many fast-food options: Wendys, KFC, Hardees, McDonalds Taco Bell.Nursery Road Linthicum Hts MD 21090
