Pls, try to keep the house in order and clean.
If you've walked all around Montevideo all the day long or you've been practising any sports when in Montevideo there's around 30C, pls try to take a shower. From others sites (not airbnb) I've hosted people that weren't "water friendly" ;-); sorry for being so direct. It doesn't mean you need to be taking showers all day long, just a reasonable body hygiene.
We prefer easygoing people.
You can smoke at our backyard.
Pets are allowed at the backyard.
Soledad made me feel very welcome; she even called a local restaurant to have food delivered on the night of my arrival. I had to spend a weekend elsewhere before my next bnb host was ready to receive me, and Soledad graciously let me leave my luggage at her house for the weekend.
While Soledad is a very nice person, I'm afraid I can't recommend her house as a bnb location. It's in poor condition and is extremely small. The pictures do not accurately represent the size or condition of the house. The kitchen was so cramped, it was difficult to cook or even move comfortably. Two people could not be in the kitchen at the same time. My room (her 6-year-old son's room) was also small and stuffy. To make matters worse, the neighbors blast their music at varying hours day and night. Their apartment was directly across from my room, so it was often a choice of letting in a small amount of fresh air or having someone else's music forced on me (which I could still hear even when the window was closed). Perhaps the most acute aspect of the house's poor condition were the huge chunks of plaster that fell from the bathroom wall, particularly around the shower head. I often had to wash plaster away from the center of the shower before getting in so as not to step on it. Moreover, the location is far from any important or interesting locations in the city. Going anywhere meant a long walk or paying for a bus ticket. I'm currently in a more centrally located, larger, and much nicer apartment that costs less per night than this listing. Given the size, condition, and location of her house, Soledad should be charging half of what she currently charges. I very much regret staying here.
I think the experience was bad for both sides. She's hermetic, no emotions, no words, nothing so... impossible to communicate and try to have a nice report. Not much to say about it.
You can read all my references and you'll never will find that someone would say the house is in "poor conditions". About the "huge chunks of plaster" is a bit exaggerated ;-) and it's repaired now.
I have been very lucky with my Airbnb hosts so far, but Soledad is really something special. I felt like I really found a family in Montevideo, not just a place to stay. Soledad is a very interesting person, funny and caring. She was helpful beyond description, giving advice, explaining things to me, taking me out, driving me to the beach and so on. I had the best of time in Montevideo, thanks to Soledad. The room itself is cute and cosy, the neighbourhood quiet and pleasant. Plenty of buses to take you to the beach, downtown etc. Strongly recommend Soledad's place to anyone who wants a true homestay-like experience!
I really enjoyed my stay with Sole. She is very easy-going and really helpful person. Nice room, clean and all things there you need, very good location too - I would absolutely stay there again!
This was my first time visiting Montevideo, instead of staying at a hotel, I decided to stay with a local person. My choice paid off. Soledad was a great and caring host. Her house is centrally located in a very pleasant and safe neighborhood and two blocks away from where to catch public transit for all over the city. The location is very convenient and it is located in a very calm residential neighborhood. Within two or three blocks there are grocery stores, bakeries, restaurants and cleaners. Soledad's house is clean, tidy and comfortable . Soledad was very helpful and every day she suggested cultural and tourist attractions I could visit in the city and in other areas such as Punta del Este and Colonia, helping me with maps and itineraries. I had the perfect vacation in Uruguay staying at Soledad's place. I recommend staying at her place 100%. The next time I return to Montevideo her house will be my first choice!
