A great home stay in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance of a major street with excellent public transit. Montevideo may be the most laid-back national capital on earth, and Soledad's apartment is all that in microcosm.
It was a lovely stay at Soledad's. The neighborhood is great with everything you need within a reasonable distance.
She is a great resource for getting around the city and has some amazing stories.
Soledad and her son Augosto were wonderful hosts during my stay in Montevideo. They were very kind, helpful and fun to be around. During the day I could explore Montevideo and come home at night to have a good conversation about Spanish, Uruguayan culture, things I should see or try and ... alfajores. Always alfajores.
I was sad to leave after 15 days there because I'd grown attached to them. If life ever takes me back through Montevideo I will have to get in touch.
If you know that traveling the world is really about the people you meet then you should definitely stay here.
A cozy room with a very welcoming host who is more than welcome to point you in the direction of landmarks in Montevideo and Uruguay. Accommodating and friendly. She welcomed me into her home and family and I appreciate that. As for the room, the location is not downtown but it's an easy busy ride into the Centro where you can truly experience Montevideo. The neighborhood is much more quiet and residential than downtown.
