Unobstructed water views and a lush garden welcome you to our spacious Stonington getaway. The historic 1860’s home is located on the Pawcatuck river and is a quick drive to nearby beaches, downtown Westerly, shops, restaurants, breweries, and all the winter activities in Stonington and Mystic.
Attention boat owners: This home is located across the street from a transient dock (Ask us about seasonal private lighthouse/seal/kelp farm tours depart directly across the road!
The space
Why we love this home:
Built in 1860 and expanded in 1990, this is a place where our family gathers for holidays and over the summer to take advantage of the incredible places this neighborhood has to offer. We love this three bedroom two bathroom home because:
- Recently updated interior including new washer/dryer, refrigerator, dishwasher and mini splits in bedrooms
- Large front porch with unobstructed views of the beautiful Pawcatuck river (designated wild and scenic) making morning coffee a real treat
- Private back patio perfect for R&R
- Quick walk to downtown Westerly, short drive to nearby ocean beaches, Mystic, Stonington Borough, Foxwoods Casino, Mohegan Sun and more (ask us for recommendations!)
- Access to kayaks May-September to explore the river - close to winter lobster pot tree featured in the Boston globe.
- Book a private seal cruise / lighthouse tour for your group (weather permitting) departing right out your front door.
- Spacious layout that can accommodate larger groups
- Cozy fireplace to enhance family gatherings
- Many hikes nearby (Avalonia Land Trust or Burlingame State Park are a great starting place) to see the leaves change color in autumn.
The Home:
First floor has one full bath, one washer and dryer, large eat in kitchen, access to private patio with outdoor shower, large living room with smart TV, den/game room and a large front porch with amazing river views.
The second floor has three bedrooms and one full bathroom.
Bedroom one has a queen bed and space for a pack and play. This water facing room has sliding doors to let in the river breeze, a ceiling fan, and a mini-split unit for AC or additional heat.
Room two offers a skylight and a full bed, a ceiling fan, and a mini-split unit for AC or additional heat.
Room three is the largest and located in the rear. It offers a king sized bed with two sleeper chairs and is ideal for families. There is a small desk and a window ac unit. This 1860s cape requires you walk through the bathroom to access the large back bedroom.
The second floor has one shared full bathroom.
Parking: Please plan for no more than 2-3 cars for your trip as the driveway is small and there is no street parking available.
Guest access
Guests have access to the full home, private patio and porches. The garage is not available to guests.
Parking is available in the driveway only (2-3 spots depending on car size).
Other things to note
This house was built in 1860 and is equipped with household basics (bedding/sheets included). The kitchen is equipped with pots, pans, pyrex dishes, cookie sheets, cutlery / grilling tools, dishes, glasses and basic oils and spices. There is a propane grill located on the back patio.
This home features 3 bedrooms and sleeps up to 8 people using 3 beds (1 full, 1 queen, 1 king) and two single sleeper chairs located in the master bedroom with.
The Amtrak line runs directly behind the home at high speeds during the day, however this is a quiet corridor and there are no train horns allowed.
We are pet friendly with prior approval and a non-refundable per/pet fee.

It’s a lovely gem that is not far from route 95 and the Westerly Amtrak stop.
