Villa Marily is a traditional Santorini cave house, situated in Imerovigli village, on the Caldera. Unlike most of the cave houses in Santorini, this one runs wide and not deep in the rock. This characteristic provides a lot of natural light throughout the day, thanks to the windows that cover the front of the house. There isn’t one room without natural light.
The villa has a very nice lay out and is ideal for couples, families or even a group of friends. It is comprised of two bedrooms (one is outside the main house, totally private) with double beds and a living room with two single built-in beds/sofas. It also has a fully equipped kitchen with stoves, oven and all other necessary. The living room, besides the two sofa/beds, has a dining table with chairs.
The bedroom in the house provides privacy with the newly fitted traditional style door, which separates it from the living room.
The villa can very comfortably accommodate up to 6 persons.
It does not have air-conditioning but the house keeps a very comfortable temperature all year round.
Outside, the 85sq.m veranda provides unobstructed view of the Aegean sea, the volcano and Thirassia island. You can also find patio furniture, which includes an umbrella, table and folding chairs, as well as 2 sun loungers. There are also concrete areas that someone can sunbathe on.
Villa Marily is near the path that leads to the main town of Fira, so there aren’t many steps to reach it, approx. 40 easy steps.
Restaurants and mini markets are only a step away, and so is the main town of Fira.

The Apartment is clean and tidy. Also, it has a prefect view. Host is very kind. He provided us a pick up service and gave us some suggestions for the sightseeing and restaurants. It's warm enough to stay here even in Winter. We recommend this apartment!
Aris is a lovely fellow who runs a great Thai restaurant/sports bar in Oia called Paradox. He kindly arranged an airport transfer for us, met us and helped us carry our bags down to the cave house. The house has a really spectacular ocean view, you won't find better! Aris was very helpful with a few problems we had and even let us relocate to a different property he has in Oia which was more relaxing when there was a bit of construction noise near the house in Imerovigli. Imerovigli has very little open in winter, so travellers coming to Santorini in winter might want to consider staying in Thira (the capital) or Oia as there are shops and restaurants open there.
Communication with Aris before arrival was very easy. He was quick to respond. He offered to set up a pickup for us at the port, and then when we ended up flying instead of taking the ferry, he switched the pickup to the airport on very short notice.
The cave house is mostly very comfortable. We visited in the winter, so it was cold outside, and it took a while to get used to the kitchen being in a separate space. The heaters provided did a fine job of keeping the house warm.
The view from the house and outside porch area is stunning. We had some grey days during our visit, and the view was beautiful on those days as well.
Staying in Imerovigli instead of Thira was perfect for us. It felt less touristy. We found Thira to be a twenty minute walk from the house. We also had a car, which was convenient for grocery shopping.
Our host contacted us a few days before we were to arrive and offered to arrange a taxi for us from the port. That was very nice. I never actually met our host, but someone did meet us at the taxi to show us to the place, which was incredible. The location was perfect, right off the Caldera, a short walk to the town of Imerovigli and a longer walk to Firostephani and Fira. The view was amazing. We did not need to book reservations somewhere to watch the sunset - we just got a bottle of wine and some bread and oil and sat on our gorgeous deck every night. The two bedrooms were nice, and quite apart from each other, and from the kitchen. We had everything we needed. Aris was very responsive on e-mail when we reached out to him to arrange our transportation back to the port.
The place has an amazing view if not the best in Imerovigli. Aris was great in providing a transfer to his place. He could not meet us personally because he had been involved in a motor vehicle accident but made sure someone was present to meet us and give us instructions. Although the view and terrace were great we felt the place is in need of an update perhaps fresh paint and more cleanliness. The place didn't feel like it had been cleaned prior to our arrival. Bathroom had a horrible smell coming from the sewer trap and there was no water pressure in the shower. Attention to these areas would make this place shine even more compared to the other houses in the area. Not our most desirable place among other AirBnb experiences we had in our overall trip to Greece. House below this one was abandoned and seemed to have a squatter living there.
The place is nice and the view is unbelievable. The location is good - about a 10 minute walk down the trail from fira and close to a bus station to go to oia. The place is a bit small for 6 people, I would suggest only 4. The bathroom can get a bit musty since there is only a small window, but other than that it is good. I wouldn't plan on making any meals in the kitchen but the fridge is good and every appliance you need is there. The beds are somewhat comfortable and the deck area is good. The only other downside is the lack of a pool. Aris was great to work with, arranged us transportation from the ferry, and also had daily cleaning service.
