The space

We are a family of four. My name is Premadasa Marasinha. My wife is Dammika. We have two children. They are still studying.

I am a teacher at a school for children with mental and physical disabilities. My wife is also a teacher and she work with the teenagers and adult students who have got learning difficulties..

We decided to start this guest house for two reasons. To be honest, the first main reason is to make some decent income . The other reason is, our family likes visitors. We meet guests very often and sometimes we invite them to visit our home. We like to chat with them and share our knowledge, ideas and friendship. It has become easy as all four of us can speak English. Though we are not able offer them much facilities as we are not rich people, they always tell us, that they have enjoyed their stay here and promise to visit us again.
Why should you stay with us?
Well, we live in a very beautiful, peaceful and small village. The village is called AKMEEMANA. Everywhere it`s green. Our house is situated in a nice village near to Gallle,.
It is a upstairs room with a balcony and, attached bathroom. that's mean it is your own room with full privacy. it is a privilege. So, no any disturbance even from us :)). Also, you can listen to the music of nature in the evenings.
also there is a nice garden with lot of fruit trees.also,.
Our house is located about 9 km from the main city Galle. The famous tourist beach Unawatuna is about 8 km off. If you are not very interested in staying at the beach, our place is the ideal alternative. I am sure you would love to stay at our place. We are a family with very friendly, open minded and easy going members. Also you can get an idea of how a typical Sri Lankan lower middle class family lives. We don`t own much, but we are a happy and united family.

My wife is a good cook. She cooks typical and authentic Sri Lankan food like rice and curries, hoppers, Rottis, string hoppers and pittu. She is also very good at cooking fish in her own way. As our guests you will get to know the genuine Sri Lankan cuisine.

Moreover we have a nice fruit garden around our house. There are many kinds of fruit trees, spices and herbals. To name just a few: bananas, papayas, king coconuts, peppers, ginger cinamons, mangoes, guavas, rambutans star fruits, pineapples and a lot more. So we can offer you fresh fruits just picked from the garden in the whole year.

If you like to be in the beaches you could also go to Unawatuna within a 20 mins ..

The house is situated close to a main road so the transportation is not a problem at all.The Colombo Galle super highway is situated very close to our lace and only about 10 mins drive from here. Also, there is a tuk tuk park close-by.

If you want to check your emails, you can use our internet facilities for free.
So, we are looking forward to see you . I am sure you would love to be here as we offer you the nicest and most probably the cheapest place in down south in Sri Lanka.
This is not just another guest house BUT a home with caring and sharing with human touch.
You are not just another guest to us but a good friend of us.

Premadasa and his family made us both feel very welcomed. They opened their home up to us in what I feel AirBnB is all about. We particularly wanted to meet a local family in their own home and to get a better understanding of what life in Sri Lanka away from the main tourist drift. It was lovely to sit down in the evening and chat and learn from each other. It was especially good that Kim is also in education. We were there for three days and went out to the beach and the city as they are only a short (and interesting) bus ride away. Our Sri Lanka experience was much richer for visiting Premadasa and his family.

Premadasa and his wife are really nice and they speak good English. Only issue is the house is 20 min by tuk tuk away from downtown, which might not be very convenient for travellers who only stay one or two days in Galle.

To exchange and spend a great moment with real sri-lankan people ! This place is simple, close to galles by tuktuk (25min) and motorway (10min). Premadasa and his wife were very helful and welcoming. Thanks to us, we learnt a little bit more in habits and customs in sri lanka !

Premadasa and his family were so friendly and welcoming. We loved every minute of our stay in their lovely house outside Galle! Dhammika cooked the most amazing food and we really enjoyed our chats during breakfast and dinner. We would really recommend this home stay as you get to learn so much about Sri Lanka from Premadasa and you get to see the "real' Galle (as in, not just the Colonised bit of the Fort). It is a bit far away from Galle and you need to stand your ground with the tuck-tuk drivers who want to charge more! There are a couple of shops in the village and everyone is really friendly and interested to see you. The room is has everything you need; a fan, plugs, mosquito net, bathroom and a lovely balcony. Oh and there are lots of king coconuts! Thank you so much Premadasa and family for your amazing hospitality, good food and great company. It was a great start to our trip in Sri Lanka!

If you look for an unusual and unique experience in Sri Lanka, this is your place! We appreciated the warmly welcome and the discussions with Premadasa and his family. We particularly liked to cook with Premadasa's wife and to learn how to do the famous rice&curry. Premadasa also showed us his great garden full of bananas, coconuts, ginger etc. The bedroom is basic but you have a mosquito net and private bathroom. Very interesting to see the local way of living and what a great hospitality!

We spent a wonderful evening with Premadasa and his family, talking geography, plants and politics. Staying at the Teacher's Home is a great way to experience Sri Lankan family life. Thank you for a great time!
