Peaceful, bight room with twin bed and shared bath.
Use of kitchen, living room, front porch. Complimentary coffee/tea in the morning.
Nice and quiet, the room overlooks the backyard garden. The tree line closes off the property, giving it that sanctuary-like feel. The room is peaceful, giving guests a place to relax before and/or after their day in the Berkshires.
The Guest has access to the shared country kitchen downstairs and the shared upstairs bath. There's a small and cozy living room, but no cable, only a DVD player. Free Wifi available. The gardens are open to roam through as well :)
Interaction with Guests
We love to meet with the Guest on their arrival and are willing to show them around the property, in addition to helping them with any questions they may have about the house, room, or area.
The Neighborhood is quiet, even on the worst of days. Guests can hear the faint call of church bells every hour from down in the center of town. The property is secluded, but welcoming. Guests are encouraged to take their tea/coffee out on the front porch or even sitting out in the back yard.
There is a public bus that arrives at the gas station at the bottom of the hill. The roads to Lenox and Great Barrington (North and South respectively) are usually smooth sailing, however. There is parking on the premises, but we would like to ask that Guests park on the left hand side of the driveway.
Other Things to Note
There is a long-term tenant, Ben, who lives on the first floor off of the kitchen. He works at an Art Gallery in Lenox and is nice and friendly. My daughter, who is also the groundskeeper/manager, lives in the cottage out back. She shares the upstairs bath with the Guests.
Sadly no pets, as we have two cats in residence. Smoking is allowed, but we ask that it is done outdoors only.
The street is parallel to Lee's main street but has a country feeling, with a variety of pretty houses, some with barns. The room is tiny and cozy and, in person, looks just like the picture. Mary's daughter was mowing the lawn when I came up and she showed me the house, which is immaculate and welcoming. Mary calls this a peaceful room and it is. I came in late, after an evening at Shakespeare & Company and immediately fell asleep. Mary's cats welcomed me and were good company while I brushed my teeth.
Mary was very welcoming and accommodating upon my arrival. The room was clean and comfortable, and the location was perfect for my frequent trips into Lenox/Tanglewood.
The house was very comfortable and close to town. I walked to town and there was lots of great restaurants. Mary was a great host and has a wonderful gallery in Great Barrington just a few towns away. The room was comfortable, and I slept well. There is a beautiful garden in back and I was lucky enough to come when there was fresh peaches. Thanks
I had a wonderful stay at Mary's home in Lee. The house had a very homely feel and was extremely clean. The lounge room was comfortable, the kitchen had great appliances and the bathroom had a big bath! Mary changed my sheets and towels every few days and provided me with soap, tea and coffee.
The house is only a few blocks away from shops, cafés and the laundry-mat which was very convenient.
Mary was extremely kind and approachable.
Nice, comfortable place.
