Escape to the mountains at our roundhouse. Breathe the sweet alpine air on the wraparound deck while deer graze below. Our cabin is perched at 4350 ft of elevation in a gorgeous gated development with private access to the world-famous Appalachian Trail. It has 2 bedrooms, a full kitchen and 1 and 1/2 bathrooms. You're close to so much: Asheville is right down I-26, ski lifts are 5 minutes away, horseback rides and so much more.

The mountains have been whispering your name. Answer their call.

The space
Live the round life. Our little rondette cabin is nestled deep in a cool high-altitude valley, making it a great escape from the sweltering summer heat. Featuring 2 bedrooms and 1 and 1/2 baths, our cabin is the ideal spot to launch your mountain adventures. The cabin feels big and spacious with an open floor plan and high ceilings.

The cabin is located in the gated Wolf Laurel development, one of the highest altitude residential developments east of the Mississippi River. The neighborhood offers several private access points to the Appalachian Trail and the top of Big Bald, the highest summit in the area at 5,516 feet (with 360 degree views for miles and miles). The state of North Carolina is encouraging people to get out and exercise with proper social distancing and our cabin offers plenty of opportunities to do just that.

Please note: No smoking/vaping on premises, por favor. No animals are allowed due to cabin owner pet allergies.

Update: We installed a brand-new mini-split air-conditioning and heating system for all-year comfort.

Towels are supplied but please bring extra towels if you plan to go out to waterfalls or if you have a longer stay.

If you have physical limitations, be aware there is a set of stairs to get into the house that may be challenging to climb

Check in after 3pm, check out 11am.

Regarding entertainment, the house is equipped with wi-fi and a smart 50-inch television over the fireplace. There is no cable service. Guests can login using their own Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, etc. credentials.

Cellphone service up here is very spotty. You will most likely need to connect to the cabin wifi and use wi-fi calling on your cellphone once you arrive.

There is one security camera outside monitoring the driveway.

Guest access
You'll have a full kitchen with refrigerator, stovetop, oven, microwave and a Keurig machine with complimentary coffee. The gas grill on the wraparound deck is under a cover but available for your use. A small selection of pots and pans are provided as well if you plan to do some cooking. A stacked washer and dryer is on premises.

Other things to note
The new HVAC system is controlled by the remote holstered on the wall by the bookshelf.

A dehumidifier helps keep down the humidity during your stay. As it pulls moisture from the air, it will collect in a tank. If the tank is full, the unit will auto shutoff. Emptying the tank and replacing it will restart it.

Instructions for the HVAC and dehumidifier are in the cabin manual on the coffee table.

After lots of searching, my wife and I finally found a unique little cabin high in the mountains. It's our escape from the oppressive humidity of Florida summers and allows our daughter to play in the snow during winter. After putting lots of love into what was a rather neglected rondette, it's finally ready to share with others who want to just get away from the craziness in the world, experience the mountains and reconnect with nature for a bit.
