About This Listing
Lovely, clean home of cheesemakers. If you love cheese this is the place for you! Two bedrooms are available, one has a queen size bed and the other has a trundle bed. There is a shared bath for the two rooms. You are invited to make yourself at home and use the kitchen and the rest of the cozy home we built in 2003. We have a cheese aging room in our home and make the cheese at a small farm 12 miles from our home.
We are located in the countryside 4 miles from our historic village of Walpole, NH which has a great chocolate shop and fabulous restaurants, vineyard and winery, artist co-op, summertime flea market, a creamery with the best homemade ice cream and a couple of cheese makers (and we are one of those cheese makers). Ski areas are a 45 minute drive. Boston is a 2 hour drive and NYC is a 4 hour drive. We request a 2 night stay during fall foliage in October.
You are welcome to prepare a meal in the kitchen and make yourself comfortable in our home.
Our home is in a quiet rural setting. In the spring you are lulled to sleep by the spring peepers (small frogs that make a big sound) and the summer has the frog songs, all from our nearby pond and wetlands. Bird songs are enjoyed during the day.
This is a rural country setting with no public transportation.
Other Things to Note
During the month of October we request a 2 night minimum.
We are so glad we chose to stay here instead of a local motel.
How does it get any better than this? Sleeping in a comfortable bed, waking to the sound of wild birds singing and wind in the trees, taking a swift walk down a country road, tasting delicious cheese (Sawyer's Cheese), enjoying good conversation in the warm, inviting living room. This place is rural with a capital R ( yet close to Interstate 91) and Sonia and Joe's hospitality is heart warming with a capital H.
We felt extra welcome. The room was cozy and perfect, everything like the comforts of home. Sonia was great. We went to a wine tasting and walked around the quaint village.
We had a wonderful time staying at the Sawyers' amazing home! Their place is beautiful and the room was large with a very comfortable bed. They immediately made us feel welcome and even had a cheese tasting of their (delicious) homemade cheeses. Our breakfast the next morning was delicious and fresh, and the conversation was fascinating. We left feeling as if we had gained new friends, and would unreservedly recommend them to anyone!
Sonia welcomed me with tea by the fire when I arrived. The rural setting is quiet and restful. The bedroom is elegantly appointed with a brass bed, fine linens, a writing desk, wing chair and footstool and views of the countryside. The private bath is down the hall with tub and shower. Breakfast was delicious with homemade orange rolls, fresh eggs and Barrry's tea. I enjoyed the location for 4 nights while attending a film screening in the area. It is a peaceful retreat with accommodating hosts.
Nice gateway from City busy life as always. Sonia and Joe are such great host that I feel like I am home and I feel sad to come back to my own home :) .. It's amazing to have this kind of experience where you make friends ,share experience and keep going back to get more of it..This place is special for us and thanks to both of them ! You must bring back a sampling of all the different cheeses that Joe makes, especially the one with caraway is my favorite :)
Sonia and Joe were wonderful hosts! Their home is beautiful and spotless, the room quite spacious with a very comfortable bed, and the time spent chatting by the wood stove made me feel right at home. I especially liked the inside information on the local scene. Sonia was very sweet to make special gluten-free cookies for me, and the cheese is out of this world! Highly recommended.
