Welcome to our cozy, one-bedroom apartment in the historic Haight-Ashbury neighborhood in beautiful San Francisco! This classic Edwardian with high ceilings, big bay windows, and built-in ornamental shelving is quintessential San Francisco architecture.
We are located right in the center of town, near the corner of the infamous Haight and Ashbury intersection, on the top floor with lots of sunshine and garden views. And when the fog rolls in, so does the cool eucalyptus-scented ocean breeze.
You will be sleeping in our spacious master bedroom which faces east and so the morning sun brightens and warms your main living space, and the afternoon sun warms the kitchen.
The bedroom is furnished with a queen-sized spring mattress and bed frame, couch, wooden Art Deco designed desk, lamps, stereo, Chinese armoire, drawers, mirrors, plenty of shelving and organizational space, friendly plant life and cozy warm colors.
Have a warm bath in our deep, claw foot bathtub. The apartment features a split bathroom with the tub and sink in one room and the toilet in another.
The kitchen is fully furnished with everything you need to eat in such as cutlery and cookware, fridge, stove and oven, top of the line water filter, coffee bean grinder and filters, toaster oven, etc..
Or go on a foodie adventure! Select from any of the fine neighborhood eateries. Or please feel free to ask and I will recommend my favorite restaurants, cafes, festivals, tourist or local sites---all that the Bay Area and Northern California has to offer.
We are looking for non-smoking, quiet, clean and conscientious guests. Quiet and responsible are key as you will be residing in our home (not some anonymous hotel) and our neighbors are friends and we'd like to keep it that way ;-) This would be ideal for a responsible individual looking for an affordable space in the Haight-Ashbury, or just wanting an extended Haight-Ashbury vacation.
We are literally a stone's throw from Haight Street and one of the most famous intersections on Earth--the Haight-Ashbury! The Haight is a cultural, musical and artistic mecca in the history of San Francisco. The Grateful Dead, among so many other artists, lived in our neighborhood. Today, the neighborhood is full of modern artists and musicians, and is a melting pot of locals and visitors alike from all classes, ethnicities, and all walks of life.
We are located within walking distance to Golden Gate Park and the Panhandle (3-5 minute walk), Cole Valley (5-10 minutes away), the Inner Sunset (9th and Irving) (15-20 min walk via the park), the Western Addition (10 min walk), the Castro (15-20 min walk), Hayes Valley (20 min walk) and the lower Haight (15 min walk), the place to go for SF's best Thai, great Indian, BBQ, beer and more.
We are within walking distance to the California Academy of Science, the Conservatory of Flowers and Strybing Arboretum, the De Young Museum, the Botanical Gardens, the Japanese Tea Garden, Tank Hill, Twin Peaks, several playgrounds for children, and dozens and dozens of cafes, restaurants and bars for food and nightlife.
There are several major food markets which all cater to foodies and vary from around the corner to a 10 minute walk! Whole Foods is a few blocks away, as is Lucky Supermarket and Falletti Food, and the Ashbury Market is right around the corner so you can get everything you need within walking distance.
There is also a weekly Wednesday afternoon Farmers Market during spring, summer and fall across from Whole Foods near the entrance to Golden Gate park. And on Thursday evenings the popular gourmet food trucks park in that same spot for yummy affordable treats. San Francisco is an organic food paradise.
The Haight Street festival is held annually during springtime and it's the busiest day of the year for the neighborhood.
Typically, the Upper Haight is quiet and calm at night, other than a few local bars located on Haight Street or the unexpected party that a neighbor may throw, of which we have no control. This is to be expected in a city full of musicians, artists, youth, creative entrepreneurs, Burners (as in Burning Man), and tourists taking it all in. And this is especially so during celebratory holiday times such as Cinco de Mayo, Halloween or during the Haight Street Fair. While we consider the Upper Haight to be a safe neighborhood, there can be petty crime in the area, so do not leave your valuables unattended, or visible in your vehicle, or your bicycle unlocked.
Transportation-wise, our nearby SF MUNI buses will get you virtually anywhere in the city and the MUNI light rail, called the N-Judah, can take you downtown in 15 minutes! You catch the N-Judah at Carl and Cole St. Multiple MUNI bus lines (phone number hidden)) intersect with Haight along Ashbury, Masonic and Clayton. Take a downtown bus or the N-Judah to the Civic Center if you need to catch BART to go to the East Bay or South Bay and the Oakland or San Francisco International Airport. And the N-Judah can take you to the Caltrain depot for trains to the South Bay and toward San Jose.
If you are bicycling, Page St is a bike boulevard and there are bike paths along the Panhandle.
Parking a car in the Haight can be competitive. It's best along the Panhandle or Page St and it's best before commuters arrive home. Keep on eye out for the parking signs which designate when the street cleaners need you to move your vehicle.
In general our apartment is fully furnished. We can also provide towels and linens if you like. We have DSL internet connection and wifi. Sorry, we have no TV but who needs TV when you're on holiday in San Francisco, and there's so much to see and do!!!
Some important notes:
-We live on the top floor and there are no elevators, only a long staircase.
-Closest laundry facilities are 3 short blocks away (5 min walk).
Our no-no's below ;-)
-Shoes are to be left at the door and not worn in the apartment.
-No pets allowed.
-No candle use or open flame.
Please help keep our home tidy and clean!
Please water our plants and feel free to talk to them ; - )
If this is something that works for you, please email us a little about yourself and your requested rental dates. We prefer guests who stay at least 5 days to few weeks or longer. And we prefer guests who check in during daylight ;-) Just let us know what your anticipate in terms of arrival and we will see if we can accommodate you. We are very friendly and flexible ;-)
Thank you and good luck in your search for home in our beautiful city, San Francisco!

What a great place! Perfect location- right near superb restaurants, interesting shops and transport options. The place was lovely- comfy, clean and quiet. The kitchen was superb and I was able to do some home cooking which was nice.
The check in process was easy and painless and I would have no hesitation in staying there again. Thanks!!
This is the perfect San Francisco home! Lots of room and light and especially the location is great - few seconds away from Haight-Ashbury and close to Golden Gate Park. And Diana was very helpful at both check in and out.
There was some noise from the upstairs neighbor, but I guess it’s unavoidable in a old building which has it’s own charm.
I would definitely recommend this apartment as your home in SF.
My boyfriend Dan and I had an excellent stay at Aaron and Michelle’s apartment. The apartment is very comfortable – it is very spacious with a lot of natural light, and indoor plants in almost every room. The apartment was a great place to unwind in the evenings after full days of exploring San Francisco. Picking up the keys was a breeze. Dianne was waiting for us in the apartment at our agreed arrival time, and gave us a rundown of everything. Aaron, Michelle and Dianne all have a lot of great tips for visitors to San Francisco. The apartment is very centrally located in the Haight Asbury area. There was an abundance of good food, bars and boutiques really close by. We will definitely return to this apartment on our next trip to San Francisco. Highly recommended!
Perfect Host, perfect place perfectly located near Haight/ashbury.
Will do again. b.
Nice, spacious and quiet apartment located in the heart of Haight-Ashbury and within walking distance from Golden Gate Park. The bed room is very sunny and the kitchen is well equipped. I highly recommend Aaron's apartment as a base for exploring San Francisco.
As our first AirBnB, we are very very satisfied about. We stayed at Aaron and Michelle's apartment in February and it is really cozy. Bedroom is sunny and very quiet, the bed has a very comfortable mattress. The apartment is equipped with all you need to live as a real San Francisco dweller.
Location is very good, near the street crossing between Ashbury and Heights, there's a food market just around the corner which sells lots of organic/vegan food as well as ready to eat food too and various shops and cafè. We had a breakfast at Pork cafè, a sort of old fashioned cafè between a diner and a bar, very USA style...
Within few steps, some MUNI stops and lines let you reach practically all the areas of this beautiful city in a reasonable time even in rush hours.
Aaron, Michelle and Diana were very nice and helpful answering at all our question we asked before we arrive in SF and specially during all our presence there, giving us plenty of suggestions to enjoy our staying and how to spend our time in the city.
If we'll get the opportunity to visit SF again, we got the place to stay.
What a wonderful time we had in Aaron's apartment! We felt particularly well and happy. It is spacious, bright, clean and very charming. The kitchen is great and practical, the bedroom is beautiful, with many plants + a very good bed + many storage units + a desk + a sofa and a large view... We really loved living there! The apartment is located in the lively area of Haight-Ashbury, with tons of cool shops and restaurants nearby and also close to an amazing park. Lots of options for transportation. Aaron, Michelle and Diana were very nice and attentive hosts. We would definitely come back to this awesome apartment and we highly recommend it.
