About this listing
Private room in apartment located just off Parallel, connected to Metro L3 (green) and L2 (purple). The room is spacious, with a double bed, wardrobe, desk and balcony. Access to living room and kitchen. Close to many amenities and attractions!
Super-comfortable double bed and a spacious room all to yourself; a desk and chair are now in the space below the bed to the left
PLEASE NOTE: Our room is ONLY listed on Airbnb, so if the calendar says our room is available, it is available. You don't need to message us to ask — just go ahead and book! :)
I am a friendly, open-minded, and cheerful host, and I want my home to be as comfortable for you as it is for us! You can use the Wi-Fi, kitchen, bathroom, living room, and TV at any time. :)
The bed is a full 140 cm (55") wide and 200 cm (79") long, with a top-quality thick, firm mattress, luxurious soft sheets, and medium-firm pillows. It's a bed I would be happy to sleep on every night myself!
The cat in the photos no longer lives here, so he will not be present during your stay.
In addition to your private room with your own balcony, you will have access to the kitchen, bathroom, living room, TV including US Netflix and local channels in Spanish and Catalan and worldwide news channels in English, dining area, common balcony, and kitchen (fridge, stove/oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, washer/dryer). You will receive your own keys to the building/flat, and you can come and go at any time as you please.
Interaction with Guests
I work partially from home, and am available for any questions, suggestions, etc that you have. Otherwise, I will stay out of your way as much as possible to ensure your privacy and your quiet enjoyment of the space.
Poble Sec is an up-and-coming neighbourhood that is still quiet but yet enjoys an excellent location. In one direction you'll find Plaça Espanya, Magic Fountain, Montjuïc, and the train to Montserrat, and in the other direction is Port Vell, Las Ramblas, Plaça Catalunya, and the beach!
The flat has a great central location within Poble Sec, well connected with metro and buses. A supermarket, pharmacy, bakery, butcher, fruit/vegetable shop, etc are all within a 1-2 minute walk. Plenty of restaurants, cafés, and tobacconists are also near. Very close by is Carrer Blai, one of the best pedestrian-only streets full of tapas bars, cafés, and restaurants!
Metro Parallel is a two minute walk from the apartment, with connections to any part of the city via L2 (purple) and L3 (green) - such as Sagrada Família, Plaça Catalunya, Las Ramblas, Passeig de Gracia, Plaça Espanya, Casa Batllo, etc.
Several bus routes (D20, 64, H14) are available less than a three minute walk from the apartment, and will take you directly to the beach, Park Güell, and other places the metro doesn't easily get to (such as Cementiri de Montjuïc).
You can easily walk to Port Vell in about 10-15 minutes (which is at the bottom of Las Ramblas) if you'd like to enjoy the beautiful waterfront marina and enjoy a boat tour from Las Golondrinas.
Other Things to Note
My home is 100% LGBTQ-friendly.
The apartment is regrettably not wheelchair-accessible; there are two flights of stairs between the front door and the apartment. (I can help with your bags.)
Please guard the keys closely, as it costs me €50 to replace them (and, in the event of loss, I will need to recoup this amount from you).
In your room for your exclusive use: Super comfy bed (thick, firm non-latex foam mattress and plush pillows), bed linens and blankets, towels, nightstand and lamp, wardrobe, desk, and fan or heater depending on the season (but you can have both if you want!).
Also in your room is a plug adapter so you can plug in things with non-European plugs such as laptops (but read the labels on your devices to verify they can handle 230V before plugging them in!), and a high-power USB charger for your portable devices (phone, iPad, etc). There is also a laundry basket, drying rack, fan, and hair dryer.
On the desk at check-in is a welcome package of bottled water, snacks, and tourist info, as well as the printed House Manual with valuable information about the apartment, the neighbourhood, and the city.
The towels and bed linens will be washed just before your arrival, as well as approximately once a week during your stay.
Need to print a boarding pass, or fax something? You may use the black-and-white multifunction laser printer/scanner/copier/fax for reasonable use at no extra charge.
Luggage storage is available prior to check in time (and after check-out) at no extra charge.
Use of the washer/dryer is available at no extra charge, but you must use my hypoallergenic soap (also no extra charge). The machine's drying cycle is optional, so if you would prefer to use the machine to only wash your clothes and use the drying rack instead of the machine to dry them, this is your choice.
I am at your service if you would like information and personalized recommendations on the city, getting around town, tourist attractions, and restaurants. :)
Respect my privacy, and I will respect yours; this is my home, and I want you to be comfortable in it!
Children under 13 regrettably cannot be accommodated.
Pets cannot be accommodated.
Respect the neighbours, especially with noise after hours (11 PM to 7 AM).
Smoking is permitted ONLY on the balconies, with the door closed behind you. The balconies have chairs and tables so you can relax while outside.
Please do not bring guests to the flat; there are plenty of cafés and bars nearby to meet friends.
In the kitchen, I invite you to use the coffee maker, microwave, and washer/dryer; there is an empty shelf in the fridge for you to keep leftovers or cold drinks. Any dishes should be promptly washed and left on the drying rack; I will put them away for you once they are dry.
Check in time is 3:00 PM, but you can check in earlier at no extra charge if the room is ready for you (for example, if the room was not occupied the previous night) upon prior agreement.
Check out time is 10:00 AM, but this is flexible if there is no guest checking in the same day you are checking out.
In the event of lost keys, you agree to pay €50 per set lost (as I will have to pay a locksmith to have new keys made).
I´ve been to Barcelona a lot of times and I´ve travelled a lot with Airbnb and without any dubt this has been the best place were I´ve stayed, Alex has been an excellent host, I felt like in a friend home,He gave me a complete guide about Barcelona with tips and advises around his house, the room and the entire house was very clean , tha room was big , he suply us with towels chargers for the phones, soap.... in a word ,anything we could need, the place is quite despite of been very close to center, 100 % advisable.
Alex is a superhost! The apartment is spacious and in a great location with many restaurants and shops just minutes away and it's adjacent to bus and metro stops. Alex communicated constantly and provided excellent information about transport from/to the airport. He also had some helpful maps and guidebooks available.
Alex was a good host, giving incredibly detailed instructions to reach the house and really good tips for the few days we were there. He gave us space and we could come and go as we wished; you are sharing the space however and it is noticed if you are used to renting an entire place for yourself.
Our short stay at Alex's house topped my expectations. Not only is Alex amazingly accommodating he is also very kind and caring, I truly felt at home at his house. The location is perfect, fast commute to everywhere with trains and buses right at your feet. We got to the beach in fifteen minutes and Sagrada Familia in fifteen as well. The room was clean, and Alex left helpful hints for getting around town and even a few treats! best Airbnb experience yet, I highly recommend for anybody's Barcelona trip.
Alex's place is wonderfully located (close to the metro and busstation) and walking distance from Plaça de España (if you're into a stroll). I was welcomed with a bottle of water and some snack and all the facilities worked just fine. I would definitely consider his place for my next visit. Not a single complaint, better yet... Alex has taken quite some time to compile a handbook containing and tips for his guests covering everything from grabbing cabs and stopping busses to tipping in restaurants and working his washing machine ;). You can't go wrong with his guide :).
The host had arranged for Heather meet me at the apartment. She was very nice and gave me all the information I needed, both on the flat and Barcelona.
Unfortunately the rating goes down since the apartment was well-worn, shabby and there were some bugs.
This guest had nothing but kind things to say during their stay and at check-out, but then left this review, which is so different than all the others I've received; surely it has nothing to do with the fact that they broke some of my property and were unhappy that they were asked to pay for the replacement... :(
About the Host, Alex
I'm clean, quiet, and friendly. I've been an Airbnb guest in the past, so I think that makes me a better host!
I enjoy spending time with my friends, reading, listening to music, and spending time outdoors. I love Barcelona as it provides so many things to do on a daily basis. There are still so many things I haven't even seen yet!
My first language is English, but I also speak some Spanish, Catalan, and French.
