About This Listing
A small studio apartment in my house. You have your own entrance, small bathroom with a washing machine and dryer and a small kitchenette so you have your privacy but I am next door if needed Free Wifi and Public transportation is 5 minutes away.
THE STUDIO has a double bed, internet, shower, washer, dryer, two bicycles and the very nice travelers best friend... the hot - tub:-) The flybus from keflavik airport stops not far away, and we are happy to provide pick-up from there. It is within walkable distance, but kind of hard to walk with the bags, not to mention find the way. We are located in the older part of Hafnarfjordur and there are some places of interrest nearby. First I would mention Hellisgerdi, where the elves are said to live, This is a beautiful, park, with trees and lava.
it´s about 5 mins walk. There are some nice restaurants close by, and just 5 mins walk to the seaside. The local swimmingpool is not far away, and it is ideal to grab the bikes and cycle there. In the apartment we have a large map of Iceland, and we have marked some suggestions for longer trips on the map. we also have a printer available for guests, this can come in handy when planning.
There are two grocery stores in a walkable distance, one is a low-price store where you can get everything you need, the other is open for longer hours, but more expensive. The bus station is close by and the bus goes to Reykjavik midtown every twenty minutes.
Washing machine, dryer, internet, hot tub, seperate entrance
Interaction with Guests
Very flexible, we often go into the hot tub with our guests and spend time with them if they want. If our guests want privacy they can have that also, but our door is always open for our guests.
Hellisgerdi the elf park is absolutely great, the town has a very lovely center with restaurants, coffee houses and shops and our harbor is said to be the best made by nature so this was a trading center for years.
There is a great swimming pool close by and supermarket is in a walking distance.
The Flybus from Keflavik airport stops in a few minutes walking distance and from there it is easy to get on most guided tours.
The bus to Reykjavik center is 5 minutes walk away and goes to Reykjavik every 20 minutes from morning to midnight. The center of Reykjavik is 15 minutes away with bus
We hope you feel like at home when you are staying with us.
When we arrived at the apartment Sirry explained that we would be staying in the flat next door rather than the studio apartment we had booked as someone else was in the Studio. As we were only staying one night this change in accommodation was not a problem for us. I think the flat was Sirrys own home so it was very kind of her to give it up for us.
Sirry was a kind host and made us feel welcome. She gave us a good recommendation for a restaurant which we tried and found to be very nice with lovely friendly staff. We had to catch a very early bus the morning after our stay back to the airport and Sirry made a very kind offer to drive us to the bus stop if it was bad weather. As it was we decided that we would make the 15 minute walk ourselves as it was only drizzling slightly and we didn't want to wake her at 4:30am.
The room was very cozy. We came during the week while she had to work, so it was very private for us. We had our own entry and bathroom and it was in a nice neighborhood. Only thing that bugged me a little was the cramped bathroom and cooking space, but it was definitely a great stay for such a good prize!
The stay at Siggy's flat was great! Comfortable, clean and a really good value. Communication, check-in and parking was simple. The wifi was very fast which helped when making plans to explore the country. Good location about 10 minutes drive from Reykjavik.
Two notes: You have your own keys, bathroom, washer and entrance/exit, but the flat is part of Siggy's home. It is not a completely separate home. Also, the home did smell a bit smokey. Not a huge deal, but something to be aware off if you are sensitive to cigarette smell.
Sirri was a fantastic host. She picked us up from the flybus bus stop which was great as it was snowy and icey, and then she showed us around Hafnarfjodur on the way to the room which was very helpful. Loved the room and the location, very cute town and very easy to get to Reykjavik by bus. Sirri and her partner also arranged a doctors appointment for us and even drove us there which was extremely appreciated. We had an amazing stay, thank you so much! Ps the hot tub was the best :)
Sirry was extremely helpful and welcoming! She even offered to drive me and my friend from Reykjavik! We had a great time in her small studio.
