The Space

Tropical getaway in a very cool, neighborhood! Close in Lake Travis near the Oasis with private lake access across the street.

One downstairs bedroom, with a queen sized bed available in cool, tropical decor private home. Each side of the bed operates separately, can be adjusted at head and feet. Private bath across from bedroom.

Kitchen access includes a gas stove and oven, a microwave, a refrigerator, and a great coffee maker. Dining room. Wireless internet available. Home has air conditioning. Great sound system. Great outdoor environment. Parking available. Washer and dryer available for use. Hot tub access with great lake view. Inquire first as to working condition, especially if Mercury is retrograde! :-) Guests can use decks, great views at night!

Approximately 25-30 minutes to most Austin venues. Being a native Austinite, I am happy to give advice, if desired. $99 per night or will consider discount for consecutive stay.

Across from Lake Travis, with lake access just across the street at homeowner's cove. The water level in the lake is low at the moment I am writing, but does fluctuate. Nonetheless, it is wonderfully warm and clear. The well known restaurant, the Oasis, "Sunset Capital of Texas", with its incredible view of the lake, famous margaritas, great atmosphere and live music.. is on my street! There are also two public parks actually on my street, one being the infamous Hippie Hollow and the other Windy Point, well known for scuba diving and instruction, along with wind surfing.

Will consider pets on an individual basis. I have 2 friendly dogs and 1 affectionate cat, indoor/outdoor.

  • I question whether you could find a more defined Austonian (Austinite???). Karen is the epitome of connectivity and graciousness in running her business whether it’s the B&B or her passion’s direction. She is intimately connected with the Austin music scene and knows what’s happening or can direct you and is approachable on any level.

Best of all, Karen adapts to the requests of her guests; she is gracious enough to open the entire first floor of her house complete with bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, dining/living/entertainment room (replete with entertainment system and musical instruments - piano, percussion [drums & bongos], flute etc.), deck (with hammock and gathering area), above ground pool, outdoor spit and propane BBQ grills etc. My intention was to find a small bungalow on Lake Travis at which to spend couple’s time; we were able to sleep in and come and go and check in and out at our leisure. Our time at Casa de Agua was very relaxing and an enjoyable experience overall.

  • Karen was a great host. Her place is absolutely gorgeous; fitting for the area with great views. She was extremely accommodating and laid back. Despite being rather busy herself the week we were there (SXSW) she left cookies out for us in mornings and coffee. Her pets were equally personable and sweet as well. If you're looking for an local spin off of an cozy island getaway, this is definitely the spot.

    Response from Karen:

Aww, thanks so much, Spencer! :-) My only regret was not getting to spend more time with the two of you! We still need to go out and have dinner, so maybe next year at South By! Please stay in touch.. Thanks!

  • I came for my birthday and to recuperate from some physical and emotional trauma and left feeling uplifted and healed. Karen and her furry babies are very hospitable. Karen and I actually hung out for my birthday and played on the instruments in her home. There was planty of space in the armoire and I virtually slipped into a coma when I laid in the bed that not only vibrates but can change positions. I enjoyed myself and really felt at home while staying at Karen's.

    Response from Karen:

Thank you and so happy to hear that your time here was recuperative! That is the important thing, plus the connection that we had, which was so natural. I still feel very honored to share that special day with you! :-)

I am a rare endangered species.. a native Austinite!.. with a passion for water and live music. I actually learned to swim before I walked (and still am better at it, though I tend to swim (email hidden) truly a dolphin or a mermaid! :-) So, all water sports..water skiing, kayaking, diving, snorkeling..Enjoy travel to the less explored exotic places in the Caribbean..including parts of Costa Rica and Belize. Would love to explore more islands, Dominica, Turks and Caicos, St. Bart's. Locally Lake Travis, Barton Springs, The Oasis, Hudson's on the Bend. Love to dance to live music at the Continental Club, Antone's to great local bands. I have many fabulous local musician friends, and also enjoy Don Henley, Santana, Moody Blues, Buffett.. rock, blues, jazz, reggae, calypso, troprock.. I really like cool percussion and flute! I am outgoing, flexible and easy to get along with. Compassionate, spirtual and kind. Funloving and youthful. Other likes... dark chocolate, coffee, good conversations, good red wine, anything tropical, laughter, adventure, exploration.. My life motto is adopted from Jimmy Buffett.. "I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead!" :-) I got my nursing BSN degree from UT Austin, great holistic education way before its time! Graduated with Honors, could've easily been an MD with that great education! I also completed a 530 hour certification course for a type of aquatic therapy, called Watsu, meaning Water Shiatsu.. an amazing experience!
