Across from Lake Travis, with lake access just across the street at homeowner's cove. The water level in the lake is low at the moment I am writing, but does fluctuate. Nonetheless, it is wonderfully warm and clear. The well known restaurant, the Oasis, "Sunset Capital of Texas", with its incredible view of the lake, famous margaritas, great atmosphere and live music.. is on my street! There are also two public parks actually on my street, one being the infamous Hippie Hollow and the other Windy Point, well known for scuba diving and instruction, along with wind surfing.
Will consider pets on an individual basis. I have 2 friendly dogs and 1 affectionate cat, indoor/outdoor.
Kitchen privileges are included, as are use of the dining room and decks. Responsible guests to maintain correct closure of front gate for protection of dogs on property. Fee quoted is for 2 people to have use of 1 private bedroom/bath. Security deposit will be promptly refunded as long as no damage to property or possessions occurs.
I've added a chifferobe to your room, so that you can hang your clothing or place folded clothes inside.
Staying with Karen in this tropical getaway was such a magical experience! Karen's home is gorgeous and eclectic, and she was such a delight to get to know. I could have spent hours chatting with her! She made me feel very at home, and I loved hanging out with her two sweet dogs and lovely cat. I would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Austin! Karen is a joy to be around, and I would highly recommend her place to anyone! Plus it's really close to Lake Travis, the Oasis, and beautiful scenery!
I question whether you could find a more defined Austonian (Austinite???). Karen is the epitome of connectivity and graciousness in running her business whether it’s the B&B or her passion’s direction. She is intimately connected with the Austin music scene and knows what’s happening or can direct you and is approachable on any level.
Best of all, Karen adapts to the requests of her guests; she is gracious enough to open the entire first floor of her house complete with bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, dining/living/entertainment room (replete with entertainment system and musical instruments - piano, percussion [drums & bongos], flute etc.), deck (with hammock and gathering area), above ground pool, outdoor spit and propane BBQ grills etc. My intention was to find a small bungalow on Lake Travis at which to spend couple’s time; we were able to sleep in and come and go and check in and out at our leisure. Our time at Casa de Agua was very relaxing and an enjoyable experience overall.
Karen was a great host. Her place is absolutely gorgeous; fitting for the area with great views. She was extremely accommodating and laid back. Despite being rather busy herself the week we were there (SXSW) she left cookies out for us in mornings and coffee. Her pets were equally personable and sweet as well. If you're looking for an local spin off of an cozy island getaway, this is definitely the spot.
I came for my birthday and to recuperate from some physical and emotional trauma and left feeling uplifted and healed. Karen and her furry babies are very hospitable. Karen and I actually hung out for my birthday and played on the instruments in her home. There was planty of space in the armoire and I virtually slipped into a coma when I laid in the bed that not only vibrates but can change positions. I enjoyed myself and really felt at home while staying at Karen's.
Karen was an absolutely amazing host and the location is a fantastic getaway. She definitely embodies the Austin culture and I personally suggest staying with her if you value the insider’s perspective.
- She is very accommodating (not strict about times or noise)
- Utilize her vast knowledge on the Austin music scene
- 20-30min driving distance from Austin
- A great getaway

I got my nursing BSN degree from UT Austin, great holistic education way before its time! Graduated with Honors, could've easily been an MD with that great education! I also completed a 530 hour certification course for a type of aquatic therapy, called Watsu, meaning Water Shiatsu.. an amazing experience!
