  • I stayed with Nellie during a week-long work trip to Nairobi. I was busy most of the time, but Nellie was a friendly host, offering good advice on restaurants and attractions at a moment's notice.

  • Nellie's home is perfectly situated in Nairobi. It is spotlessly clean very comfortable and very secure. But the star of the show is Nellie, who really goes out of her way to make you feel at home. She is the perfect ambassador for world renown Kenyan hospitality. And if you get the chance to sample her cooking - especially of traditional Kenyan dishes - just say, YES PLEASE!

  • Nellie has a nice and spacious apartment. Its clean and comfortable and its good for a long stay and for a short stay as well.
Nellie was very helpful, she helped us with safari trip and taxi, she gave us useful advices and she let us use everything we needed - kitchen stuff, Internet modem etc...
Also Nellie cooked dinners for us, some African dishes, and we really enjoyed it!
The stay with Nellie was pleasant, she is a good hostess!
    Thank you, Nellie!

  • GENERAL. Nellie is a very good host and made to feel at home. I could go to sleep and wake up and make my breakfast anytime. She also helped by putting her computer desk in my room so I could work, etc. The place is clean and tidy. She is a good cook but if you plan to eat dinner, let her know the night before and discuss your likes/dislikes. She arranged taxis through a company she found reliable and I confirm the rates were competitive. SOURCE OF LOCAL KNOWLEDGE. Nellie having lived in Nairobi provided a lot of information. During my stay, matau (local transportation) operators went on strike. This increased use of taxis and personal vehicles and hence traffic jams. Rumor had it purse snatching and the like had gone up as many decided to walk. Since Nellie is at home when in town, she was able to plug into her network to find out the situation in different parts of the city. During this, one day when I could not get taxis and decided to walk to an appointment, Nellie arranged for one of the male cleaners from the building complex to accompany me, which was very thoughtful. SAFETY OF BELONGINGS. Other reviewers talked about leaving money and valuables and nothing was lost. I had the same experience. RECOMMENDATION. Highly recommended.

  • I would highly recommend staying with Nellie! She's a warm, wonderful hostess, and has a wealth of knowledge to share about Nairobi and the surrounding areas - what to do, where to go, etc. Nellie's home is in a lovely area, and is within walking distance to the central business district and close to other key areas in Nairobi.

Nellie is also a fantastic cook, and it's definitely worth arranging with her to cook delicious East African cuisine. (She'll even teach you how to make certain dishes if you ask!)
