Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as our guests need us to be. We love spending time with our guests but respect their privacy. We're always available to our guests.
Playa Fortuna is a humble fisherman's village of the coast in Luquillo where you can walk around safely at any time and enjoy talking to helpful neighbors and local vendors.
To best enjoy the island, we recommend renting a car but we do have a Taxi driver for your convenience.
Other Things to Note
We're an eco-friendly establishment working hard everyday to have our business running the healthiest way possible for the planet.
Be clean, respectful to others. No smoking aloud on premises. No yelling, running. We are an Eco friendly property.. We appreciate your effort. We do not have central air. We have provided individual wall units for the bedrooms, so our guest can sleep with the comfort of air-conditioning; which we insist are to be used during the evening hours, due to high electrical cost in the Island. We have fully equipped kitchen with microwave. No conventional oven. No washer/dryer. No dishwasher. We live next door. We are available to our guests 24/7 and glad to assist you with concerns and or emergencies.
Prepare a meal in the fully equipped kitchen or walk to the Luquillo Kiosks for a fun cultural dining experience.
Socorro and her husband Jose were welcoming and gracious hosts. My husband and I stayed in Tingular on the second floor. The apartment was clean and spacious enough for the two of us. Sharing with another couple would have been similar to sharing a hotel room - doable, but a little cramped, especially with only one bathroom. Be sure to bring your own shower toiletries - shampoo, conditioner, etc, as well as hair dryer. The shower was always nice and hot. Air conditioners in the bedrooms provided comfortable sleeping.
Kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed, including a blender. There is a supermarket nearby where we stocked up on cereal and sandwich fixings - a definite cost saver! A cooler and beach chairs were provided that you can take to the beach.
The grounds were well-maintained. We did not get a chance to use the pool, but did enjoy a moonlit soak in the hot tub. Being serenaded by the coquis was a bonus!
There is so much to do in PR that we did not spend much time at our apartment. We did enjoy breakfast on the balcony every morning, which included visits from Socorro's friendly dogs Zero and Rufus. The location of DelMar Eco Lodge is great - within 30-40 minutes of beautiful beaches, Bioluminescent Bays, El Yunque Rainforest, the history of Old Town San Juan, etc. The neighborhood provides an authentic Puerto Rican experience, especially compared to staying at a large resort or high rise. We also enjoyed trying out the different kiosks for dinner each night. I was also hoping to take advantage of the tree house massage service, but unfortunately we ran out of time.
Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely recommend DelMar Eco lodge, especially given the price!
We made a last minute decision to stay in Luquillo so we could go to the biobay in Fajardo and see El Yunque. Because of that, I made the reservation through the app and didn't fill out anything right, including the number of people we had. Socorro was really nice about it and let me pay her the extra when we got there. She had a friendly dog that my son absolutely loved. It was a nice place, very close to a beautiful beach. The beds were a little tough but the shower was nice with hot water. Very nice place for the price.
Socorro and her husband were so welcoming right from the start. They made it very easy for my friends and I to have the most relaxing time in Luquillo. I would recommend the eco - lodge to anyone and I'm hoping I'll be able to go back again! The apartment was clean and spacious and the pool and hot tub were both clean. I loved being able to enjoy my breakfast on the balcony in the mornings especially when I was welcomed by their friendly cat or dogs! The beach is a quick walk and was very peaceful, there is kayaking, paddle boarding and jet skiing all available near your beach entrance! All in all this was completely the winter getaway we were looking for.
Location was close to great public beach and within 5-10 minutes of groceries and many restaurants. Not far from Fajardo and close to the rainforest. Definitely recommend staying here - felt safe and secluded even in the middle of a quaint neighborhood.
This is our second visit to Luquillo and staying at Socorro's. I'm so happy every time I visit. The place is roomy and has all the comforts of home. The coqui singing at night make it magical. Easy to get to the kiosks, beach, rainforest, and the biobay. We hope to visit again soon!
Socorro and Cedric are really kind and were very accommodating with our toddler. The apartment was as described. We had a very comfortable stay and would consider going back. The only downside is that the beach at the end of the road wasn't really swim-able (no sand at high tide, very rocky, strong current), which was a little disappointing. Thanks, Socorro and Cedric!

About the Host, Cedric & Socorro
Hi, I'm Cedric, you can call me Ced.
I'm a percussionist, drummer and music teacher. I'm an artisan whenever I get my hands on some driftwood or beads and string, and a college student. Talking about myself is not my best quality so hopefully we'll just meet in person. I love all types of arts, nature, animals and meeting new people. I really like learning about other cultures, their music and ways of life. I know my way around the island VERY well and I'll be more than happy to help in any way I can! Adventures and other fun outdoors activities are something I try to enjoy often so feel free to ask, "What's there to do around here?" and I'll draw you a map to the Rainforest and on the way you can stop at the zip lining park or go horse back riding at the beach.
If I'm out at college during your stay my mom, Socorro, will be here to welcome you and assist you in anyway she can. We live in the house next door.
Socorro is a hard working wife, mother of two young men, massage therapist , nature lover, animal lover. Sixteen years in the Hotel Industry allowed her to dream about a Lodging place where guests can enjoy more than a roof and good food, but also experience our warm, rich, fun culture.
We enjoy long walks on the beach, kayaking and lite cooking (rather eat out any day). We live on premises, so we are available to our guests 24/7. We enjoy bike riding and the movies. YES, we have our outside movie projector ready for any given evening. Popcorn too. We are located a block away from the beach, two blocks away from the Mameyes River (great Kayaking area) and 25 minutes away from one of the 3 Bio-luminescent bays of the Island (only five known in the world). We are 5 minutes away from a Ranch that offers Horseback riding, Go Karts and Fourtracks rentals. Oh yes; we always have coconut water!!!
