This was the PERFECT location. It was walking distance to the High Line, Meatpacking District and Chelsea Market. The apartment was very cute and in a quiet neighborhood which was great! Ardele was also very accommodating and quick to answer any questions I had!
We stayed in the apartment for 12 nights. It was spring and during our stay the bare trees broke out into bloom. Beautiful.
The apartment is in a great location. The apartment is close to everything: bars, subway, Bleecker Street shopping, Washington Square, Chelsea and the Highline. The cobblestone street is charming.
It's is only 2 floors up the stairs which is fine and a bonus.
Liaising with Ardele was very easy. She replied to our emails within minutes and accommodated any little special requests. Picking up and returning the keys was easy, right at the top of the subway stairs and only a few blocks from the apartment. There are only 2 sets of keys; we got by with these, but a third set of keys would have made things easier for us during our stay.
We found the apartment clean on arrival and it seemed to have recently had a fresh coat of white paint. The lounge room has a nice outlook onto the street and each of the other rooms has its own small window onto interior light-wells: it wasn’t dingy. Our group of a couple and two singles fitted quite well, but any more would have been difficult. As outlined in Ardele’s drawing, there is no real privacy between rooms and you have to walk through each room to get to the kitchen and bathroom. There's no door between the living room and the main bedroom, just a curtain.
The beds, including the sofa bed, were all quite comfortable. The second bedroom only fits a double bed and nothing else. Both bedrooms feel more like a bed in a hallway given that everybody else has to walk through them, but we knew this was going to be the case and lived with it. One strategy that helped a couple of times in the middle of the night was to exit the apartment into the outside corridor and re-enter through the other door at the opposite end of the apartment.
The kitchen/dining room is spacious enough, by Manhattan standards. The stove is good. The smoke alarm is in the kitchen, however, with no exhaust over the stove, so the alarm went off every time we cooked.
The bathroom needs retiling, but the shower is good and strong and hot. As Ardele advised, the toilet handle has to be held down for it to flush properly; we did this, but even so the toilet does not fill properly (in the American style) and so consequently we often had to flush twice or more. This needs to be fixed.
There was very little noise from neighbours in other apartments in the building. Maybe this is a benefit of the "railroad" floor plan?
There's a great collection of art and architecture books which we really enjoyed. Having Arnason's History of Modern Art on hand was a great accompaniment to our visits to MOMA!
Thanks for a great stay, Ardele!
The Apt is great, super comfortable for the 3 of us, clean, great beds and strong shower! The neighborhood is awesome, beautuful area, full of cool cafes and restaurants. Quiet street and 5 minute walking distance to many subway lines. Carrie responded inmediately at any request we had and she was helpful to making us feel like home. We will choose this place again in the future for sure. Thanks for everything!
Position is perfect. Surrounded by great food, shopping and coffee. Apartment is exactly like photos and we had an excellent stay.
Don't expect too many pleasantries from Ardele, she is short in communication but replies quickly and accurately and we had everything we needed. I accidentally dropped off my bags early and requested a second key AND had an early check out and she accommodated all of this.
We just loved it.
Ardele's appartment is best located in the meatpacking district, not far away from the Metro. The facilities are ok, we had everything we needed. Good organisation to get the key.
