  • Had a great experience staying here. The apartment has plenty of space for what I needed and it was very clean. The bedroom is right in the street which can be loud but I didn't mind it at all since I can sleep through just about anything. And I think you'll have noise with any apt in this area. Orion and Yuxel were very helpful and friendly. I was able to call Yuxel on arrival from a taxi drivers phone to tell him I was stuck in traffic and he was very flexible. The few blocks around the apt weren't the best but I never felt unsafe and it was a few minutes to Istiklal street and some more trendy neighborhoods. Had a great breakfast at the House Cafe on Istiklal. Easy access to tram just 15 minutes walk. The shower did leak a little which seems to be a common complaint but I just hung the rug up after my shower, no problem. Overall a really great experience, would stay here again!!

  • Overall this apartment was adequate, especially for the price. It was cute and clean, bed was comfortable, but the apartment is very small. There were small annoyances, like the shower leaking all over the floor unless you were super careful, and the wifi was unstable. The neighborhood was interesting...very "local", with a street market every Sunday morning. The apartment was very conveniently located to Istiklal St. for evening people watching, eating and shopping (note that the souvenir shops located in the Beyoglu area are cheaper than anything in the old town, including the grand bazaar). The apartment seems to be in the direct flight path to the airport, so it can be noisy (with street noise as well).

Yuxel was very nice, although we only met him because we went to his cafe by Galata Tower. All of the hosting responsibilities seemed to fall to his friend, who was very nice. One thing that Yuxel could improve is his communication. Although everything was always taken care of, he often would not reply to texts or take a long time to respond. A quick "I am on it" would go a long way in easing a traveler's concerns.

  • Yuxel is incredibly kind, constantly smiling and courteous. The flat was well equipped and clean. The neighbours and the shop owners on the street were great to us. I would recommend this flat to seasoned travelers because the neighbourhood is not touristic at all, and you'll have no choice but to learn Turkish :)

  • We stayed 2 nights at Yuxel apartment at Taxim. The apartment was cleaned, the wifi connection good and equipped with all the necessaries for cooking and ironing. However, they were no toilet brush and the bathroom door is not well fixed so when you take a shower, the all place get wet. More over, we we were coldly welcomed by Yuxel as he seemed to be in a hurry.

We are sorry that you waited 20 min for us but we do try our best to follow your indications and they fact that we arrived on market day did not help to find our way (website hidden): finally, we appreciate the fact we could let our luggage with the Owner of the shop next to Yuxel's apartment and the guy was really nice.

  • Not the best Airbnb experience so far:
    - Too expensive! The two nights cost us 140 Eur (90 + 20 cleaning costs (the appartment was not clean) + 15 late checkin costs + 15 airbnb costs). For this money you get a decent hotel with breakfast in the city centre!!!
    - 15 eur late check-in fee after 8 pm is just exagerated
    - asked Yuxel in advance for some tips to visit with my girlfriend (who had a broken leg), never received a response
    - not so clean appartment (dirty sheets???), deceptive pictures on the website
    - we never received the exact address of the appartment!!! Not even in the booking confirmation. We got there by Taxi, with Yuxel's directions on speaker. However, when we came back from our restaurant the same evening, we followed the directions based on the coordinates on the Airbnb website and spent 40 minutes (at 1 a.m.) looking for the appartment (trying to recognise the front door). When we desperately called Yuxel, we got the address and understood the Airbnb website was pointing us at a parallel street.

  • Nice apartment near Istikal St. In my opinion, it's a better location than the more touristed places because it's more authentic, and it's still is only a 3 minute walk from all the action. Yuxel is a sweet and helpful guy. Recommended.

  • It was overall good experience in Istanbul while staying at Yuxel place. It is very close to Istiklal street and Taksim (5- 10 min walk). Area was quite safe but a bit noisy. I haven't met with Yuxel but Oner (yuxel friend) received me and guided me well for my trip. The only problem I faced was the coldness in apartment as there is no proper heating system. The actual room look small then picture but very economical in Istanbul.
