Come enjoy our quiet oasis nestled in the pinon-juniper forest of SW Colorado! Located just 8 miles N of the airport and 9 miles E of Durango, we’re close enough to enjoy Durango’s nightlife, but far enough out of town to get a restful night's sleep.
Our closest neighbor is 1/2 mile away so the view from every window is that of mountains, fields and forests. The sunny, south-facing bedroom windows are nearly floor to ceiling, so don’t be surprised if you wake to a deer or bunny peeking in at you! We have plenty of space for parking multiple vehicles including trailers with easy turn-around access.
The main irrigation canal runs right through our property where we have 3 ponds and several miles of private trails weaving through the woods. During a morning or evening stroll you might spot hawks, mallards, great blue herons, great horned owls, deer, elk, raccoon or coyote. The trails are great for walks, runs, horseback rides or mountain biking. For the avid mountain biker we’re only a couple of miles from a public trailhead that leads to endless miles of riding. These same trails are open to horses, so if you’re here to ride, we're where you want to be!
We have the world's friendliest yellow lab, named Zeke. He doesn’t bark, growl, jump up, lick or beg--yes, he’s the perfect dog--and never met an airbnb guest he didn't love.
Horses are welcome for an extra charge of $25 per horse per night (summer only): We have two, large irrigated pastures each with a pond and trees. We have easy trailer access and parking. We have a round pen, so your horse is ready for a quick get-away in the morning. I do a lot of local riding in the mountains so you are welcome to join me or I can give you directions to many different trails.
Your bedroom is located on the first floor and equipped with a super-comfy, queen-size futon-bed, a desk for your laptop (fast wi-fi included) and plenty of shelf and hanging closet space for your belongings. Across the hall from your room is a full, private bath. The kitchen, breakfast bar, dining area and living room are open for your enjoyment and relaxation. Privacy is enhanced by the host's bedroom and bath being on the second floor.
Interaction with Guests
My husband and I are world travelers and enjoy meeting new people. We can be outgoing and interactive or respect your privacy, whichever you prefer. We're fluent in English, but can communicate in Spanish and Portuguese.
We’ve lived in Durango for 37 years, so we can offer ideas and directions for anywhere in the Four Corners area that you’d like to go. We’re avid outdoor enthusiasts and graduates of Durango's Fort Lewis College who love to share our extensive local knowledge.
Jeremiah spent years working as a Ranger at Mesa Verde, Hovenweep and Canyonlands National Parks, so if you're interested in visiting any of our nearby, world-class parks (and who wouldn't be?) he can answer any of your questions.
We're situated half-way between the DRO airport and downtown Durango. Driving time to either destination is 15 minutes, all on paved roads. Durango is full of great restaurants.
There's no public transit from our location into town, but you can ride your bike to a bus-stop a couple of miles down the road (the bus carries bicycles or you can lock it up there). Taxis are available from the DRO airport to our place ($27), but you'll have to use your airbnb-provided directions to find us.

Other Things to Note
We pride ourselves on being an environmentally friendly household. Our modern home’s passive solar design keeps us cozy in the winter and cool in the summer. Our solar showers are heated by rooftop hot-water panels which also provide in-floor space heating. If you’re staying with us in the winter, your feet will appreciate the warm tile! We’re connected to the electrical grid (so there’s no need to worry about running out of juice), but all of our power comes from clean, renewable energy. If you’re interested in learning more about solar design, Jeremiah loves to share his knowledge. We practice the 5 R's: Reduce - Reuse - Repurpose - Recycle - Rot (compost).

Wonderful Space and incredibly welcoming hosts! Exactly what we needed for a weekend away!
Everything was positive regarding my 5 night stay. This was my first AirBnB experience, and the hosts took the extra effort to get my reservation through. The room and private bath were exactly what I was looking for. I had enough quiet times, and when I needed some information on the Durango area, they provided great help. I'm thinking of possibly moving to this area, and they went out of their way to help me out. Beautiful surroundings, and a very friendly dog!
Our Ranch was a great launch pad for our Durango ski weekend. Despite it feeling remote, it was easy to find and quite close to Durango city. We really enjoyed deer watching on the way in and out! The room was comfortable and both the bedroom and bathroom were extremely clean. Bonus points for having warm, radiant heating in the floor - that feels great after a long day of skiing! We would definitely stay here again.
Jasmin and I had a wonderful experience. The room was clean, had a private bathroom, and included Wifi. They dad a sweet mellow yellow lab. He keeps to himself but is super friendly if you want tower the dog. We woke up to deer running outside a beautiful landscape. I wanted to stay longer, not only for the wonderful room, but the company of the people was delightfully engaging. I recommend staying here. It was one of the best experiences we've had.
We had a great time at Ginger and Jeremiah's ranch. We were on the last leg of our journey from the Four Corners region and were pretty tired when we reached Durango. The house was warm and clean and quite secluded, just the way we wanted it. Our host received as graciously and also gave us tips on visiting Mesa Verde and nearby areas. The only regret is that we couldn't stay there longer as we had to get back after the holidays!
Our stay with Ginger & Jeremiah was excellent. They were considerate and respectful hosts and also very lovely people! They have a beautiful home and were so conveniently located to town. We are looking forward to visiting Durango again during the Spring/Summer and would definitely stay with them again. They made our first Air BnB experience an excellent one and we're so appreciative of their hospitality (Zeke too!!).
We're avid world travelers who love to explore new places and meet the people who live there.
Ginger’s been working with children her entire professional life. She started at a boarding school outside of Sedona, AZ and from there went on to N California to work at a residential treatment facility for teenagers--introducing them to wilderness. She worked for the Student Conservation Association in the Ansel Adams Wilderness doing trail work and for the past 20 years has been teaching elementary school Aztec, NM. She loves nearly every outdoor activity, including running, hiking canoeing, backpacking, bike and horseback riding.
Jeremiah spent years as a park ranger and whitewater raft guide before starting an outdoor clothing business, here in Durango. These days he spends much of his time traveling around the world on his adventure motorcycle and pursuing his passion for writing and photography. From climbing to diving, spelunking to paragliding, he loves to be outside!
