About This Listing
One bedroom / bath studio with king size bed, satellite tv / internet, kitchenette, garden view, separate entrance and parking. You're welcome to enjoy the rest of Villa Ever Summer with my husband Juny and I, we'll share some islander folklore!
Villa Ever Summer is a villa overlooking Orient Beach and the dotted islands, bays and mangrove of the St. Martin Reserve Naturelle. This is a view with no public access; it's only accessible from a few homes. Enjoy this ocean view in many hues of green and blue surrounded by the rolling hills of both Dutch and French sides, right nearby several magnificent beaches and restaurants, including one-of-a-kind Pinel island. If you like occasional company and want to get to know St. Maarten and the surrounding islands' most magical spots, those which take decades to discover, there is no better vacation than Ever Summer.
The villa is located in the 24/7 gated community at the very summit of the Vistas in Oyster Pond Estates. The hilltop breeze is constantly wafting through the house for an experience of luxurious oxygenation. Yes, Ever Summer offers many unique luxuries.
As an American living on a small Caribbean island, and married to a wonderful man from Statia, an even smaller island (he's my favorite Statian) we welcome friends from all over the world. As a decorator, Ever Summer is lovingly designed to be the ideal Caribbean vacation abode.
Concerning the route to get here, I do offer detailed instructions to ensure you can find us.
Some of my guests asked me to recommend beaches and restaurants. With 36 beaches and over 400 restaurants, St. Maarten has plenty to choose from...
Pinel Island, Mullet Bay beach, Rouge Beach, Plum Bay, Karakter at Simpson Bay beach, Palm Beach at Orient Bay, Le Galion aka Baby Beach because of its calm water, Sunset Beach bar next to the airport has the low flying 747 jet blast tossing volunteers around, but it also has good music and beautiful sunsets.
Grocery store: Grand Marche at the roundabout next to Texaco.
Bamboo Bernie- Japanese Sushi at Maho beach resort. There's a nice lounge upstairs called the Buddha Lounge.
Bajatzu- really good steak house also at Maho beach resort
Loterie Farm at Peak Paradis
Grand Case- Le Pressoir, an upscale french dining experience. Also in Grand Case: Cottage
Marigot Marina - Cafe de Paris, good food, fun staff, nice marina setting.
There is sometimes traffic on the roads. It depends where on the island and what time of day. During rush hour in Simpson Bay and coming towards Philipsburg, there is some wait, but our new causeway has been effective in alleviating this. Sometimes a bridge is opening, and that causes delays as well. My advice to guests is to stay on a beach on whichever side you're on between 3:30 and 6:30 pm.
Guests are welcome and encouraged to use the main kitchen with us, anytime after 9 am. Before 9 and late at night the guest kitchenette is available. In the main kitchen we have a beautiful mirror fridge and anyone can use it creatively, but there is no meal plan. We can improvise on grocery shopping, cooking, etc...
If you want a fantastic location from which to explore the entire island of Sint Maarten/St Martin, this is the place to be based. Villa Ever Summer is in a great, traffic-free spot, and it's easy to access all sides of the island while avoiding the mess of traffic around Phillipsburg.
Catherine was a fantastic host from first contact, and the experience was extremely smooth. The apartment is as depicted - parking, privacy, small kitchenette, all you need. Fan overhead the bed keeps the temperature perfect with the windows open. Great place to plan the next day's adventure, and safe and secure.
We were out exploring all day every day and didn't have much time to chat with Catherine and Juny, but they are a fabulous and super friendly couple with great stories and a positive outlook, and have beautifully designed the upper portion of the house to showcase their incredible view. They had some great suggestions of where to go and what to see.
A few notes for future visitors:
As other folks have said, it's a steep drive up the hill. Follow Catherine's directions (not google maps - the roads on this hillside are not mapped correctly) and stay in low gear and you get used to it after the first few trips. The view is breathtaking. (I was glad we did this first during the daylight.)
The tap water is from the sky and stored in a huge tank.... it runs through two types of filters and is safe (and delicious) to drink. Do be respectful of water consumption if you are there during the dry season.
If you're coming from North America, you don't need an electrical adapter.
Must sees/dos: Anse Marcel, Grand Case lolos, Marigot market on Wednesdays (and Saturdays maybe?), Maho Beach KLM arrival/departure, Orient Bay beaches (where you'll also find perhaps the best bakery on the island... yellow place by the Bikini Beach), Pinel Island hiking (easy to do in flip flops, but closed-toe sandals would have been better), Tintamare, BZH restaurant in Oyster Pond (French side) has amazing food and ice cream :)
The access is steep, but the road is good and we had no problem to go up with our Kia Picanto. The climb to Catherine's villa worth it. We were very well received, the house has an incredible view and we had complete privacy. The accommodations are great. We had no problem during our stay. Catherine was very patient with our bad English and gave us great tips. We visited fantastic places without spending much money. We really recommend this place!
Catherine and Juny were very welcoming when I arrived from Grand Case. The apartment is downstairs in the villa and it is very nicely decorated, very comfortable, and very peaceful. It is also quite private while still being part of the main house. To enjoy the spectacular views from Ever Summer, you will want to use the fabulous deck off the main floor which is accessed by going upstairs. As noted, in their description, Catherine and Juny encourage people to come upstairs and enjoy the villa and the views after 9am. For 1 or 2 people it is a lovely place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the island. Thank you Catherine and Juny!!
We enjoyed staying at Catherine & Juni's Villa Ever Summer. They have a beautiful home with a breathtaking view and gorgeous infinity pool.
It's a little tricky to find, but once you drive the road to the top of the hill where their house sits a couple of times you will have it down. The road to the villa is not for those who have big issues with heights. There are a couple of pretty steep areas on the way, so be prepared.
Our room was very nice with basic amenities and nice finishes. The kitchenette was a little smaller than expected, with no microwave or oven and very basic dishes. There also isn't any air conditioning. Most of the time the fans and beautiful ocean breezes are adequate, however many times we found the bathroom a little too hot and humid while two people are getting showered and ready at the same time. It would be nice if they added another fan in the bathroom, as I think that would really resolve the issue.
Catherine and Juni's hospitality was wonderful. They were there whenever we had questions and we enjoyed visiting with them and learning more about the island. Catherine also made us amazing fresh passion fruit juice.
We would recommend Ever Summer to others. It's a very nice place, the location near Oyster Pond was convenient and the hosts were great.
Catherine graciously greeted us and gave us tips on the island. The suite was very comfortable with a great King bed. We especially enjoyed the peaceful, serene setting high on a hill overlooking the most amazing view of the island. Morning walks through the neighborhood having the roads all to ourselves was a great way to start every day, and we enjoyed watching a troop of vervet monkeys passing through the neighborhood. We absolutely recommend Villa Ever Summer for a relaxing, peaceful place to stay. Thank you, Catherine.
