For your discovery tour of Connemara we offer a comfortable double or twin room with garden views. We are only five minutes from Clifden - directly on the "Wild Atlantic Way". Letterfrack National Park and Kylemore Abbey are just ten minutes away.
Tuck Mill Lodge is build on the site of a former Tuck Mill – which was used to clean the wool of Connemara sheep. The river still flows along one side of the house into Streamstown Bay. Our rooms are spacious with a sitting area and en-suit bathrooms. Guests can make tea and coffee in their rooms and sit down and relax. Every room has information about local sights and activities, and we can offer advice about what to do and where to go.
There is free WiFi everywhere in the house.
Breakfast is served in the conservatory, which is a lovely space for guests to use any time of the day – for a cup of tea or to see the sun go down. For misty evenings there is Sky TV, magazines and books in the sitting room in front of a warming fire.
Clifden - the capital of Connemara – is only a five minute drive away. A lively town with Pubs, restaurants and shops it’s the right place to enjoy the best of local food and listen to traditional Irish music. Here you start your discovery tour of Connemara from the barren south part around Carna and Roundstone or the wooded north site with the Connemara National Park and historic Kylemore Abbey and garden. You can climb the Diamond mountain or walk along sea shores or take a trip on the boot that brings you out Killary Bay – the only Fiord in Ireland – to see Dolphins.
Many more activities can be arranged, including pony riding on the beach or a day trip with the ferry to Inishbofin Island where you can cycle or walk around this small island in just one day.

My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay at Tuck Mill Lodge. Katharina greeted us warmly when we arrived and ensured we had everything we needed. The room was lovely and cozy. The breakfast the next day was delicious and plentiful. Katharina even had extra food laid out for us to prepare a light lunch to take with us on our journey which was very much appreciated! I would recommend staying here to anyone who is visiting the beautiful Clifden area.
Katharina was very kind and the house very charming and comfortable. She recommended us good ideas and we were very happy to stay at her house. We recommend her and the lodge without hesitation.
Katharina was a perfect Host. She was available for any questions, was genuinely interested in our travels and provided us with open access to the public areas of her home. Our room was clean, well decorated and larger than advertised. Wifi speed was fast. She offered several options for breakfast. It is very conveniently located to the Clifden restaurants and art community. I would highly recommend Katharina's home as a place to stay when visiting the Clifden area.
Katharina is a lovely host. Our stay was very enjoyable. The room was very spacious and quiet. Katharina provided us with local information on top attractions. The breakfast was exceptional and we would definitely stay here again if we ever pass through Clifden in the future.
Spacious room in a quiet and lovely place. Katharina is very welcoming and it is nice to talk with her. The breakfast was complete and delicious.
Katharina was very welcoming when we arrived, showed us to our room in her beautiful home and gave us a key and asked us what time we would like to have breakfast. The room on the on suite bathroom were very nice and comfortable on all fronts. Very functional space. Katharina served us a traditional Irish Breakfast which was very tasty in her glass enclosed porch over looking the gardens.
Tuck Mill Lodge is located in a great spot for visiting the Connemara area, Kylemore Abbey and the town of Clifden. We really enjoyed staying with Katharina and would recommend it as a great place to stay if you are in the area.

As a former journalist I love to meet new people, and because I travelled myself a lot, I know what makes guests comfortable and relaxed when they stay away from home.
