About this listing
My homey den is centrally located in a charming, historic, quiet neighborhood just minutes from the "Loop". The area is abundant with things to do, scenery to ogle and places to please your palate. Public transport is plenty and very easy to access!
My one bedroom studio is the perfect place for anyone looking for a hotel alternative that is centrally located. The apartment is conveniently just minutes from the Loop and would be all privately yours for the duration of your stay.
My little abode comes fully furnished with bookcases (which are home to some great reading materials), a couch (which is a futon and can double as a bed), a desk, a full-sized, super comfy bed and a thinking chair.
The apartment is located on Dearborn Street, technically in the Gold Coast area, but slightly meandering on the edge of Old Town. The neighborhood is SAFE, QUIET and BEAUTIFUL!
- 5 minute walk to North Avenue beach & Lincoln Park
- 5 minute walk to CTA Red Line trains (the ride into the Loop is approx. 8 minutes)
- Around the corner from Clark, Broadway, North, Armitage, and Lake Shore CTA buses
- 15 minute walk to CTA Brown line trains
- 20 minute bus ride to Wicker Park
- A few blocks away from the Magnificent Mile shopping area
The apartment is located on the top floor, so you won't be hearing any tap-dancing above your head! There is an elevator in the building, the neighbors are great and the space is clean.
PARKING: Let me know if you are coming in by car and I will provide you with daily street parking permits free of charge.
Guests have access to everything within the apartment. My house is your house and everything here is for your use! Accommodations included are: high speed wireless internet, electric utilities (heating/cooling/stove), in-building laundry units, use of general home essentials (dining/cooking wares, etc), fresh bedding and towels, toiletries, and basic cable. If you want to read some of the books I have or put on one of the records, feel free to do so!
Interaction with Guests
I try to meet as many of my guests as I possibly can during check-in or check-out. Sometimes scheduling can be hectic, so if I'm unable to meet guests I give them thorough instructions for arrival or departure. I always make sure my guests arrive safely! There is a handy list at the apartment with little instructions and details on where to find things, wifi info, grocery store locations, and even some personal recommendations around the city. I'm also always available to give any tips during a guest's stay if need be. I appreciate hearing all suggestions on how I can make a guest's stay even better.
My neighborhood is in a central location, which is something to truly love. The apartment is in walking distance of the lake, the park, the Loop, and is surrounded by wonderful shops, restaurants, museums and entertainment venues.
If your dogs are barking, you can always opt to take one of the many buses or trains surrounding my apartment. The Red Line train runs 24/7 and is 5 minutes walking distance of the apartment. Or, you can catch nearby buses which can take you in any direction throughout the city.
I only ask that you're respectful of my furniture as well as my belongings. Please try and remember that, when I'm not hosting guests, this place is my HOME. So, please treat it with the same care that you do your own nest. Of course that accidents sometimes happen, but do try and avoid spilling any irremovable liquids or causing any serious damage. I have many books, records and collectibles which I do check after each guest, so please treat those things with care. The neighbors are great, but don't be out of control. This is a smaller space, so sound carries easily. And lastly ... no smoking inside! : )
Incredible space with distinct style and a great host to boot! Absolutely can't go wrong here. Thanks, Kasia!
Appartment was very nice. Also the location is very good, nice neighbourhood. Within walkin distance from some nice restaurants, metro and beach. We were with two adults and two kids. For the four of us the appartment was to small. The sleeping couch worked well but is suitable for one person.
Communication with Kasia was at first a bit slow due to app problems, but worked out fine in the end. Incheck was not a problem and she had information ready.
We had a great trip to chicago! with two persons we would definitely come back.
I stayed here for the weekend. My and my wife loved it. The suburb was beautiful and the apartment was gorgeous. Very convenient to check out the city in a safe area. I highly recommend this place.
What a great stay!!! The studio was perfect! It's in such a nice and SAFE neighborhood!! Kasia was a great host and was very good at communicating and there to please her guests!! You are in walking distance to many nice restaurant bars and the beach!! The beach was perfect too!! If I go back to Chicago I would stay here for sure!!! Perfect a around!!!
This is a beautiful, and tastefully decorated apartment in which we quickly felt at home. Kasia was friendly and welcoming and she allowed us to leave our luggage early at the apartment. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the lake and downtown Chicago. Highly recommended!
Cute, quaint apartment & great location. Close to North Beach, and Old Town. Kasia made checking In and Out super easy and was very generous with her amenities. Apartment was clean, nicely setup, and had 'Brothers in Arms' on vinyl to boot!
About the Host, Kasia
I am an English Literature and Education double major, having graduated from Roosevelt University. Currently I am in the process of completing my Master's degree at UIC.
When I'm not pouring over my studies in an over-caffeinated daze, I'm daydreaming of becoming a world-renowned wordsmith or professional espionage. I'm an avid book reader, as you will probably notice upon walking into my flat. When I'm not doing obligatory things: I write, observe, sing, explore, inquire, take photographs/film, collect vintage knick-knacks, and make use of my hands and brain. I try to do as many things as I can and I love learning and experiencing. I also enjoy cooking a hell of a drool-worthy meal. Recently, I've been trying to master the theremin...which is hellishly hard, if you were wondering. :)
As for hosting...I try my best to make guests feel as welcome as possible. I'm always more than happy to recommend a list of my personal favorite spots in Chicago. Whether it be enjoyment for your brain and heart, or nourishment for your stomach and liver, I'll be sure to steer you the right way in this city.
I tell all my guests: "Feel like you're right at home." I mean it! There's nothing more dreadful than returning from a nice day of exploration to a cold hotel. By being a guest in someone's home, you experience the city almost as if you live there.
So go ahead, pretend my flat is yours, and think of yourself as a Chicagoan rather than a tourist. :)
