Welcome to my house. There are 1– 3 bedrooms available on the first floor, each with a double bed and close to the bathroom One large bedroom is connected to a smaller bedroom which would be appropriate for a family member.
All rooms are the same price per night (not per person). Two of the three rooms have a large outdoor porch surrounded by a lovely garden and lawn. Breakfast isn't served but two of the rooms have a coffee pot/tea kettle (coffee and tea provided) and one room has a mini fridge if you would like to bring food with you. Towels are provided.
The modern three story house is located less than 1 mile from the Dartmouth College campus. It is a 1/2 mile from world-famous King Arthur Flour and the Montshire Museum, considered one of the ten best science museums in the country.
WIFI and parking are available.
The Connecticut River is within walking distance for swimming or canoeing/kayaking. We are only a short drive from Woodstock and Quechee, Vermont (home of Simon Pearce restaurant and store with glass-blowing workshop) and other tourist attractions. Cross country skiing is nearby and there is excellent downhill skiing at Killington and Pico Mountains which are a 40 minute drive.
I am a writer who has published books about Guatemala and the Spanish Civil War. I've lived in Vermont for over 25 years and can tell you about the unique and interesting things to do in this beautiful area.
I have a dog and a cat. The animals will be kept out of the rental area, but if you have allergies you should know that they live here.

It was just lovely. Laurie was a more than a wonderful host. She was gracious enough to drop me to the Dartmouth campus early in the morning as the weather was bad.
I enjoyed my stay with her and I highly recommend her house. The bedroom is very spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom is clean and big. She took care of every little detail. All in all, an excellent experience.
I had a really nice stay here. The room is spacious and comfortable, the setting is beautiful, and the location is great -- I was attending a conference at Dartmouth and didn't want to rent a car; I could walk to campus in 15 minutes. Laurie was very communicative and accommodating, even as a few plans changed along the way.
Wonderful stay, everything was perfect and Laurie provided all the help I needed!
Clean and comfortable accommodations. Was a short walk to Hanover, NH. I would be happy to stay here again.
We had a pleasant and comfortable stay at Laurie's. We'll definitely try to stay there again the next time we're in the area!
We had a lovely stay at Laurie's house. It felt very private because essentially we had the whole downstairs to ourselves. We did see Laurie a couple times while we were there and she made sure we had what we needed. The bed was really comfortable. It was very chilly out when we were there but we were quite warm. The room is a really great option if you're looking to stay near Dartmouth on a budget. The Norwich Inn and general store is less than a mile away, and so is the center of Hanover. If you visit and want to go out for dinner, make sure you call restaurants in advance for a reservation! We learned that the hard way. The WI-FI in the room was really choppy for us, I'm not sure if that something that could be fixed. We would certainly book with Laurie again if we visit the area in the future.
Laurie was the perfect host. She was accommodating of my awkward schedule, communicative before check-in, and fully prepared prior to my arrival. Her home is beautiful, and "country chic" is definitely the appropriate description for it. It brought back fond memories of when I used to live near the Appalachians in Tennessee. The bed was very comfortable, and the area she's in was dead silent, leading to wonderful sleep. This is in great contrast to my NYC apartment next to a fire station... Last, I want to comment on the bathroom. It's so big! It might even be bigger than my living room in NYC!
The home is very close to Dartmouth, and I was able to walk to campus from the listing, rather than have to deal with Dartmouth's parking situation.
That's about it. Overall, a wonderful stay.
A very convenient location with a beautiful deck. Laurie is very welcoming and makes you feel right at home while respecting your privacy. Good experience.
I returned a second time to this great house, which confirms my initial review of it being a comfortable & clean room / bathroom, superb location for anything near Dartmouth and Norwich. Laurie is a lovely person and host. Highly recommend this location.
I was running an event at Dartmouth over the weekend and I was always out early and back late but Laurie was very accommodating. Even though Laurie and I never crossed paths it was an easy stay.
